New James Bond Writer Asked Who Will Be Next Bond, Teases Something ‘Different’
Earlier this week news broke that Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight was being eyed as the writer of the next James Bond film. On Friday, Aug. 1 Knight confirmed the rumors during an interview with BBC Radio 5’s Live Breakfast while revealing he’s “hoping that being a Bond fan for so many years” will bleed into his script.
Who Will Be the Next James Bond?
Anyone who has seen No Time to Die knows the likely end of Daniel Craig’s James Bond character and that he won’t be back for the historic franchise. Add in the fact that he’s not under contract for another film and all signs point to a younger, fresher face taking over the role.
A number of potential replacements have been named over the past few months from Henry Cavill, who was reportedly the runner-up to Craig, to Theo James to Idris Elba. However, according to Variety the three favorites for the role are Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson and Tom Holland.
When asked about the next Bond, Knight didn’t take the bait. “Very, very good question and one I can’t give you the answer to,” he said.
Something ‘Different’ Coming in the Next Bond Film
Knight first learned he was getting the job when he was invited to a meeting with producer Amy Pascal.
“I very quickly discovered what it was about and became very excited and hopeful,” Knight told the BBC. “And then the process is … you do some meetings, you discuss some ideas and then you find out you’ve got it. I found out a while ago, but it was announced last night, which is great.”
Later when asked if he felt pressure to deliver, Knight made it clear he’s trusting his own process that has delivered hits like Dirty Pretty Things, Locke and Spencer.
“I mean the way I look at it, you’ve just gotta do what you do, do it as well as you can and then what else can you do?” He added, “I’m hoping that being a Bond fan for so many years, that will sort of be imbued into me and I’ll be able to produce something that’s the same but different and better and stronger and bolder.”

Unrecognizable Gary Busey Pleads Guilty in Shocking Sexual Assault Case: What He Looks Like Now

A nearly unrecognizable Gary Busey changed his tune in a court hearing this week regarding fourth-degree criminal sexual contact at a horror movie convention in Camden, New Jersey. The 81-year-old actor, long known for his larger-than-life personality and intense on-screen energy, appeared drastically different during a virtual court hearing this week, where he admitted the contact “wasn’t accidental.”
This is drastically different from what Busey flat-out denied in 2022 after being accused of groping multiple women at the Monster-Mania Con. As seen in the Court TV video, Busey changed his tune in front of Judge Gwendolyn Blue.
The virtual hearing was jarring for a few reasons, the biggest being Busey’s appearance. His features seemed a bit more sunken in and he had a subdued demeanor that made him feel worlds away from his former wild-eyed, erratically energetic self. The man who was once a charismatic scene-stealer in films like Point Break and The Buddy Holly Story now looks like a man who has been through a lot of physical, emotional, and legal storms.
“Didn’t he suffer a traumatic brain injury in a motorcycle accident?” one person pointed out in the comments. Busey was in a motorcycle accident in December 1988. He wasn’t wearing a helmet and ended up fracturing his skull, which caused permanent brain damage.
“This is Gary Busey we’re talking about here,” reads another comment. “He has no idea what’s going on.” He did crack open a soda at one point on camera, which the judge wasn’t happy about and called him out for.
Other comments were harsher, with one pointing out: “Looks like a talking corpse.” Still, others even questioned if it was him on the screen.
Allegations and police reports were filed against Busey for making vulgar comments and touching fans inappropriately at the event (one woman said he grabbed her backside; another said he tried to unhook her bra). As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dropped three additional sexual contact charges and one attempted count.
Busey could face up to five years of probation and some steep fines. Virtual sentencing is set for next month

Wildfires in Arizona and Utah Are Spawning ‘Fire Clouds’ Making Fighting Them Impossible
Two massive wildfires burning in Arizona and Utah are doing more than scorching the landscape. They’re generating towering “fire clouds” that make firefighting nearly impossible.
When Wildfires Create Their Own Climate
These towering pyrocumulus clouds, formed when superheated air from the fires rises and condenses with moisture, have been spotted over Arizona’s Dragon Bravo Fire for more than a week, according to CBS News. The Grand Canyon Lodge has already been destroyed as the fire ballooned into a megafire, charring over 164 square miles and forcing the North Rim to close for the season.
Utah isn’t faring much better. The Monroe Canyon Fire has torched 75 square miles and prompted evacuation orders across several towns. The flames are so intense they’ve generated pyrocumulonimbus clouds—fire-fueled thunderstorms capable of unleashing fierce downdrafts, rapid wind shifts, and even fire tornadoes.
The Dangerous Power of ‘Fire Clouds’
These fire-induced weather systems aren’t just a visual spectacle. “If they get high enough, they can create downdrafts that spread fires rapidly and unpredictably,” said fire information officer Lisa Jennings, according to AP News. Multiple firefighting teams in Utah were forced to retreat as these erratic winds made holding fire lines impossible.
NASA has dubbed these cloud formations “the fire-breathing dragons of the atmosphere” for good reason. A recent pyrocumulonimbus event in Utah spawned a fire tornado with winds estimated at 122 mph, leveling everything in its path.
A Worsening Trend With No End in Sight
While pyrocumulus clouds aren’t new, their frequency and intensity are increasing. “You get this towering thunderstorm over the fire, and just like any other thunderstorm it gets really windy underneath it. Because it’s the West, these thunderstorms tend to be very dry,” said atmospheric scientist Derek Mallia. He warned that as climate change extends fire seasons and intensifies drought, these self-sustaining fire storms could become a regular feature of western wildfires.
With humidity levels in the single digits and wind gusts nearing 35 mph, firefighters are facing uphill battles on multiple fronts. And when ‘fire clouds’ take over, their only option is to stand down until conditions stabilize—if they do at all.

Whether it’s a sparkling tea and lemonade concoction, a cold pressed turmeric juice or a guava paloma agua de kefir, if you’re looking to try something new, Trader Joe’s is the place to get it. Their latest drop is a tonic beverage that boasts an unexpected ingredient.
Trader Joe’s Sparkling Orange Flavored Espresso Tonic Beverage is a mixture of bubbly tonic water, tart and sweet orange juice and bold espresso. It also contains quinine, which is an ingredient sourced from the bark of the Cinchona tree, native to South America. It’s thought to have medicinal properties. Functional beverages, or those with added ingredients that claim to provide additional nutritional benefits beyond hydration, are all the rage right now – and this tonic beverage happens to be one of those. Quinine is often added to tonic water to provide a slight bitter taste.
A 4-pack of 8.45-ounce cans retails for $3.99.

Fans seem to be taking to this new beverage concoction. “My family loves them. Not terribly sweet. Nice orange flavor.” said one Reddit fan. “Mmmm I lovvvve espresso tonics! Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it, y’all!” said another. “I tried it & liked it! It tastes like their dark chocolate covered orange candy sticks in liquid form, but less sweet” exclaimed another.

According to Trader Joe’s website, this is a summertime beverage and will only be around for a limited-time.

Harrison Ford on if Marvel Return After Red Hulk Portrayal Was Discussed: ‘Nope’
Marvel’s early-2025 release of Captain America: Brave New World featured a few noteworthy changes and one interesting villain. While it marked the first solo film with Anthony Mackie taking over the role of Captain America, Marvel also brought on one of the most beloved and well-known actors in Hollywood, Harrison Ford, to portray Red Hulk. However, Red Hulk didn’t speak, so it was a bit of a unique role, to say the least, for Ford.
Harrison Ford Asked if He Had Conversations About Marvel Return After Portraying Red Hulk
During a wide-ranging interview with Variety, the 83-year-old was asked if Marvel president Kevin Feige convinced him to return to the MCU. His answer was about as straight-forward as one could imagine, and Ford didn’t expand on the answer.
“Nope,” Ford said.

While Ford’s jump into the Marvel world was a fun one for fans ahead of the film, it’s not surprising that the longtime actor appears to be done with his work in the superhero/villain world.
Harrison Ford’s Previous Comments on Playing Red Hulk in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
As exciting as it would be for funs to see Ford do more work with Marvel, his comments in 2024 were telling.
During the prior interview with Variety, he was asked what it took to turn him into the Red Hulk character for Captain America: Brave New World.
“What did it take? It took not caring. It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before,” Ford responded.
Ford did take a lighter tone with the role shortly after, calling it a “great time” and stating he was “delighted at the response” fans gave to the initial trailer.
“I don’t mean to disparage it,” Ford added on a more serious note. “I’m just saying you have to do certain things that normally your mother would not want you to do — or your acting coach, if you had one. But it’s fun, and I enjoyed it. I had a great time, and I’m delighted at the response that we got with the trailer.”
Anthony Mackie’s Captain America Set to Take Center Stage for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
While we can fairly say it’s a wrap on Ford’s time as a villain in Marvel movies, Mackie’s Captain America will be front and center in the 2026 film Avengers: Doomsday.
Although Captain America: Brave New World earned mixed reviews from critics and fans, the upcoming Avengers film is still one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2026. Mackie, among a lengthy list of other current and former actors who have portrayed superheroes, will square off with the longtime Iron Man star, Robert Downey Jr., who’ll play Doctor Doom.
After initially having a summer release date next year, Avengers: Doomsday was pushed back and is now set to be released on December 18, 2026.

Latest on Jerry Jones’ Misstep With Micah Parsons’ Contract Has Fans Ripping the Cowboys
With great power comes great responsibility. However, at this point, the only responsibility Dallas Cowboys fans want to see longtime owner Jerry Jones handle is re-signing star pass-rusher Micah Parsons. As training camp rolls on and the season draws near, one of the NFL’s best defensive players is still without a new deal, and the latest bit of news on the subject has fans up in arms.
Latest on Jerry Jones’ Big Mishap With Micah Parsons
While the topic of Parsons’ new contract with the Cowboys has been more of a “when,” not “if” question, it’s continued to drag into training camp, leaving fans a bit uneasy.

Sam Hodde/Getty Images
To make matters worse, the latest report from The Athletic’s Diana Russini has only made things worse, and it’s left NFL fans as a whole putting the Cowboys organization on blast.
According to Russini, not only did the Cowboys believe a string of conversations with Parsons in the spring ended in a “deal” between the two sides, but the four-time Pro Bowler wanted his agent to handle the negotiations. Now, Russini reports the Cowboys declined to engage with Parsons’ agent and are still refusing to do so.
“Among the key issues: Micah Parsons spoke directly with Jerry Jones over multiple days in the spring. The team believed those conversations were negotiations and that it had a deal, multiple league sources said,” Russini wrote. “But Parsons believed the talks were just conversations and wanted his agent to handle the negotiations.”

“When his agent attempted to start negotiations, the Cowboys declined to engage with him and told the pass rusher that they believed they already had a deal. Now, the team is refusing to engage with Parsons’ agent at all, creating a tense standoff amid increasing friction.”
The approach desired by Parsons is standard league-wide, as that’s precisely why players have agents—to focus on the specifics of contract terms and the language within the deal. Now, with the Cowboys’ season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles just over one month away, the approach from Jones and company has resulted in a standoff.
NFL Fans Baffled at Jerry Jones & Cowboys’ Approach to Micah Parsons’ Contract
Even putting aside the fact that Parsons is one of the NFL’s best players, the general thought process and approach from the Cowboys and their owner have left NFL fans baffled.
Jones has owned the Cowboys since 1989, so there’s little doubt that he knows the process, and the same goes for his son, Stephen Jones, who’s been a higher-up with the team since the initial purchase, first being named one of the team’s three vice presidents.
After Russini’s report surfaced, fans flocked to social media to call out the Cowboys and the longtime owner.
“‘I thought we had a deal before speaking with his agent.’ Only the Cowboys…” poked one rival fan.
“First under the table contract in NFL history,” joked another.
“Jerry being Jerry,” chimed in another opposing fan.
“This is an insane move by Dallas and yet…totally understandable for Dallas,” read one reply.
“Only Jerry jones would think a deals done talking to a PLAYER,” stated another fan.
Micah Parsons Expected to Land Lucrative Contract Extension Sooner or Later From Cowboys
The reactions are far from surprising. Now, the Cowboys are left with roughly one month before Week 1 to strike a deal with the star pass-rusher. Considering the 26-year-old has been named a First-Team All-Pro twice and Second-Team All-Pro once, while remaining one of the top pass-rushers in the league, it’s going to cost the Cowboys a pretty penny.
Unfortunately for Jones and company, the delay in Parsons’ contract may have also driven the price up, as names like Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett and Pittsburgh Steelers’ T.J. Watt each inked new deals this offseason.
Parsons wants to get paid and deserves to become one of, if not the highest-paid players at his position. And the clock is ticking for the Cowboys and the Jones family.
