Reimagining Health Summit Recap

Sharing a recap of my experience at the Reimagining Health Summit. If you’re reading this and want to learn more about becoming an Integrative Health Practitioner, check it out here and use FITNESSISTA for up to $250 off. It’s by far the best certification I’ve ever done.

Hi friends!
I hope that you’re doing well and enjoying the week so far. We have a short school week with Thanksgiving, so we’re planning some fun things to do this week. The weather has been a dream so I’m going to see if I can convince the crew to head out on a hike.

For today’s post, I wanted to share a recap of my trip to Ft. Lauderdale for the Reimagining Health Summit. It was my second time attending this event – check out last year’s recap here! – and my first time attending as a speaker. I was invited to speak on a panel with three incredible coaches – they’ve all inspired me on my journey as an IHP – and even though I was suuuuper nervous, it went really well.

Some highlights from the trip:

– Ft. Lauderdale! It was my first time in Ft. Lauderdale, which is suprising since it’s a Disney cruise port and we loooove Disney cruises – and I thought it was super cute. It reminded me of Jacksonville, which was one of our favorite beach spots when we lived in Valdosta. I arrived a night early and had time to meet up with a Revenue Rx client for dinner at Pura Vida,

take a Lagree class,

and get a blowout at Dry Bar, which quickly fell out in the humidity, but I tried lol.

– Dinner with IHP friends. We had a delicious dinner at the Lona restaurant at the hotel, and it was so great to chat in person with so many of the friends I see online all the time and on our EquiLife Ambassador board meetings. We had tacos and chatted, and it was the perfect way to kick off the trip.

The energy.

There’s a special magic about being surrounded with passionate people who have the same mission you have: a desire to help others live their best, happiest, healthiest lives.

– The sessions.

This year’s even was just for IHPs – they alternate years of public events and coach-only events – and there were so many impactful sessions.

Some of my favorites were Dr. Tony’s from Hope 4 Cancer in Mexico,

Dr. Cabral’s keynote,

and Eric Lofholm’s presentation on business building.

– Our panel!!

I was invited to speak on a 6-figure expert health coaching panel with some powerhouse women that I adore: Rebecca, Ellen, and Tricia

When I was invited to speak, I didn’t know if I was going to do it. I struggle with imposter syndrome on a regular basis and public speaking is (was?) my worst nightmare. I’m consistent with content creation and all of the pieces of my online business, but at least once every day, I’m like, “What am I doing? Does anyone care? Do I suck?”

I read a book with strategies on public speaking, and did a lot of meditating, prayer, and visualization. I wanted to do it, but I also didn’t want to pass out on stage.

A few things were in my favor leading up to it:

We were lead backstage by Cassie, who is an absolute angel. Everyone who works at EquiLife is an amazing human, but Cassie is an especially bright, beautiful light. (You can see her in this IG live we did here!) She gave us a much-needed pep talk before we went on stage and reassured us that we had a lot to teach and give to the community.

I took a CBD gummy that was in our swag bag. It was juuuust enough to take the edge off lol.

We prayed together. We held hands and Rebecca gave the most beautiful prayer and after that, I felt like I could do it.

Also, Dr. Cabral is a genuinely nice person and it helped that I’d talked with him in the past. I knew he would ask great questions and that he’s easy to talk to, so that part of the panel removed a lot of the pressure.

-The VIP awards dinner.

Thanks to all of your incredible support, this trip was gifted to me as a 100-day challenge winner. I placed #7 out of over 5,000 IHPs and was also lucky #7 last year 😉 It means the world to me that I’m able to be a small part in your health journey and I’m so thankful to all of you and all of my amazing clients.

It was so much fun to enjoy a lovely meal with other challenge winners, conference speakers, and the EquiLife team.

– The expo!

It’s a little bit on the smaller side, but much higher in quality than some of the conferences I’ve attended. Some of my favorite brands were there, including HigherDOSE and Redmond’s real salt.

One of my favorite goodies in the swag bag: purse-sized bottles of sea salt

Linked up to all of my outfits here

On a personal note, the trip was also a big step for me because leading up to it, I hadn’t been alone for more than an hour since February. When we started homeschooling P, a lot of things in our lives changed. I hadn’t been in our house, let alone a hotel room, by myself, since then. It felt like the postpartum days – trying to remember what it was like to be by yourself – and while parts of me COULDN’T WAIT to get away lol, I was sad as soon as it actually happened.

(My room had enough beds and room for the fam! Next year, they’re coming!)

At the same time, I really felt my creative mojo flowing again for the first time in months, and that was very exciting indeed.

All in all, it was an amazing trip and I’m already looking forward to next year’s RHS.

Hope you have a wonderful day, friends, and I’ll see ya soon.

xo

11.21 Friday Faves

Hi friends! Happy Friday and happy Wicked day!! Are you going? Did you already go?? The girls and I are going the second they get out of school and I can’t.even.wait. (I’m a little bit more excited than they are, but they’re good sports and they know they get movie lunch and dessert out of the deal.)

In other news, P went back to school today. I’ll share more in an upcoming post (and will probably blab all about it over on Substack in the meantime), but it’s the end of a homeschool era. It was never meant to be a permanent thing unless it needed to be, and she was ready to go back to her friends and teachers. I’m happy for her, cautiously optimistic, and kind of a secret mess emotionally. I know I’ll be crying on and off most of the morning with complex emotions, and will probably cry more at Wicked so there ya go.

For now, it’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party. This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about your faves, too, so please shout out something you’re loving in the comments section below.

11.21 Friday Faves

If you’re shopping early, here’s some of the good stuff:

Universal Binder, Daily Detox Support, Calming Magnesium, Berberine+, and more.

  • Free gift with orders $149+ (this week only) and try stacking my code to see if it works!! It’s FITNESSISTA10 if it’s your first time ordering from your email address

My top picks:

Dr. Cabral 7-Day Detox
My go-to quarterly reset. It can help lower toxic load, improve digestion, boost energy, and reduce inflammation. For anyone who’s feeling “puffy” or sluggish, this is always step one. I’m already looking forward to our community detox in January!

Stress, Mood & Metabolism Lab Test
One of my favorite functional tests because it gives so much insight into hormones, thyroid, cortisol, and metabolism in one panel. This is the test I recommend for my perimenopause clients, and those who are having trouble sleeping, PMS, low mood/energy, weight loss resistance, and fatigue.

 Minerals & Metals HTMA Test
The best snapshot of your mineral status, stress, metabolism, and toxic metal exposure. This is amazing for anyone dealing with fatigue, hair shedding, weight plateaus, or anxiety.

 Daily Nutritional Support
My everyday multivitamin + protein powder + detox support in one. Café Latte is delicious. I have DNS every.single.day.

HigherDOSE

I own a lot of the products they create and they’re all staples in my routine. If I had to narrow it down to my top picks, it would be these:

 Sauna Blanket
Still one of my top wellness purchases of all time. It can increase circulation, support detox pathways, help calm the nervous system, and gives you that post-session “I just did a workout and a meditation” feeling. I use it at least once a week.

PEMF Go Mat
My daily grounding tool. This can help calm the stress response, improve deep sleep, and balance the nervous system. Perfect for reading, meditating, or using at your desk.

Red Light Face Mask or Neck Enhancer
Great for collagen, skin texture, and can reduce inflammation. I love pairing red light with castor oil packs for the ultimate habit stack.

Huge Rails sale! I’ve linked up all of my favorites here.

Old Navy also has an early 50% off sale. I love all of the holiday outfits. This is the skirt I wore for our family photos.

Also, if you have an Amex Platinum, now is the time to get a new Oura ring. My Oura ring was OLD and thick, and I’d been wanting to upgrade to one of the new, sleek, rose gold options. With Amex, you get a $200 Oura credit, so with the sale, my new one was $170!

Make sure to check out all of my gift guides here – I’ll be adding more next week! – and will also have a Black Friday hub page for easy shopping on Friday.

Read, watch, listen:

Are you watching Dancing with the Stars? I was shocked that Whitney went home before the finale, but we’re all over here cheering for Robert. I’m excited to see what happens!

I’m so ready for this.

Loved this podcast episode.

Fitness, health, and good eats:

This clean eating sweet potato casserole.

My FAVE Ina Garten pie; I just use gluten-free crust.

Make-ahead vegan green bean casserole.

The best fresh cranberry sauce.

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today! Have an amazing weekend and I’ll see ya soon!

xoxo

2025 Holiday Gift Guide for the Kids

Sharing my 2025 holiday gift guide for the kids this year! We tend to stick to the purchasing strategy of: “ Something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read.”

Hi friends! Happy Wednesday! I hope that you’re doing well and that your pre-Thanksgiving week is going swimmingly. I have a long list of things to do this week, but I’m sneaking away for a yoga class with a friend.

I’m really excited for today’s gift guide because kiddos really bring the magic to Christmastime. I’m basically like Buddy the Elf and thought that nothing could possibly make the season more enjoyable… and then we had kids. They just magnify all of the magic of the holidays. We’re getting our holiday shopping done early, so I wanted to put some ideas out there if you’re doing the same thing.

When we holiday shop for the kiddos, we keep things on the simpler side. They get their Santa gifts and stocking stuffers, and then from us, we stick to the “something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read.” This checks all of the main boxes and keeps things from getting too bananas with gifts from my parents and their other relatives. [Another hack: any gifts that aren’t opened in the first couple of days are stocked away in the playroom. I bring them out on a rainy day or when the kids say they’re looking for something to do.]

The Unexpected Ways to Use a Waffle Maker—From Pizza to Brownies

If your waffle maker’s been sitting in the cabinet for as long as you can remember, it’s time to bring it back into rotation. Turns out, the humble appliance can do a lot more than crank out batter. With a little imagination (and a spray of oil), it transforms into one of the most versatile tools in your kitchen.

Forget frozen waffles—think crispy-edged pizza pockets, fudgy brownies, and diner-style hash browns made in minutes. The trick is knowing what holds up under heat and pressure, and how to keep things from sticking. Once you’ve got that down, you’ll start seeing the waffle maker as a mini griddle with major potential.

@alexawhatsfordinner

Perhaps I’m getting carried away with the waffle maker 😅 pizza waffle is very tasty though🍕🧇 Recipe below‼️ Ingredients: • Cooking spray • Storebought pizza dough • 2 tbsp cup pizza sauce • 2 tbsp mozzarella cheese • Small handful pepperoni • Spicy honey • Basil, for garnish Directions: • Preheat a waffle iron and spray it with cooking spray. Place a small circle of pizza dough onto the iron, then top that with pizza sauce. Add on mozzarella and pepperoni. • Place another small circle of pizza dough on top and close the waffle iron, sealing it shut. Cook until dough is deep golden brown and cooked through, about 10 minutes. • Garnish with spicy honey and basil and enjoy! #pizza #waffle #wafflemakerrecipes #wafflemaker #pizzalover #easyrecipe #simplerecipe #yum #foodie #satisfying #kitchenhacks #cookinghacks #lifehacks

How to Turn a Waffle Maker Into a Mini Pizza Oven

This clever shortcut comes straight from TikTok, where home cooks have turned their waffle makers into countertop pizza ovens. The method couldn’t be simpler. Start with two small pieces of pizza dough or crescent roll dough, add sauce, cheese, and your favorite toppings between them, and press. In about four to five minutes, you’ll lift the lid to find a golden, bubbly pizza pocket with a crisp, caramelized crust.

The heat from both sides locks in the cheese and sauce while creating those signature waffle ridges, giving every bite more texture than a standard slice. It’s fast, mess-free, and perfect for a late-night snack or game-day bite. Some people brush the dough with garlic butter before cooking for extra flavor, while others finish it with red pepper flakes and a drizzle of hot honey. Either way, it’s one of the easiest ways to get that fresh pizza flavor without heating up your oven.

Think Outside the Batter: How to Waffle Anything

Once you’ve nailed the pizza hack, it’s easy to go down the rabbit hole. For a quick breakfast twist, spoon brownie batter into the iron for chewy, crinkle-edged waffles that taste like the corner piece of a pan. Or go savory. Shred potatoes, squeeze out the moisture, and press them for ultra-crispy hash browns in half the time it takes on a skillet.

You can also make grilled cheese with extra crunch—just butter the outside of the bread and press until the cheese melts and the ridges crisp up. Even quesadillas or leftover stuffing patties work beautifully in the waffle maker, forming golden, grab-and-go snacks.

If it fits and it sizzles, it’s fair game. Just give the plates a quick oil spray before cooking, and don’t be afraid to experiment. The waffle maker isn’t just for breakfast anymore—it’s a compact, two-sided griddle waiting for your next great idea.

The Simple Hack That Turns Leftover Jam Into a Gourmet Salad Dressing

If you’ve ever tossed an almost-empty jam jar in the trash, you’re not alone. Those last streaks clinging to the sides can feel impossible to scrape out—and they usually end up wasted. But TikTok recently reminded us that what’s left behind isn’t garbage at all. With just two pantry staples, you can transform those sticky remnants into a restaurant-worthy vinaigrette in under a minute.

This viral trick works especially well with blackberry jam. It’s rich, slightly tart, and loaded with natural pectin that helps emulsify the dressing. Add a little oil, a splash of vinegar, and a good shake—and suddenly, you’ve got a gourmet salad dressing without dirtying a single bowl.

Tasty little hack #foodtiktok #foodie #vinaigrette #foodhack #salad

♬ Happy Fucking Birthday – LIANZI

The Two-Ingredient Jam Jar Hack

Here’s how to do it. When you reach the bottom of a jam jar, don’t rinse it out. Instead, pour in a few tablespoons of avocado oil and a splash of balsamic vinegar. Close the lid tightly and shake until the ingredients mix into a glossy vinaigrette. The oil and vinegar loosen up every bit of jam, giving you a perfectly balanced dressing with sweetness, tang, and body.

You can add in other vinegars or oils depending on what you have on hand—red wine vinegar for sharper flavor, apple cider for a fruitier finish, or olive oil for a rounder taste. The sugar from the jam balances the acidity of the vinegar, while the oil brings everything together into a silky texture.

Related: John Mulaney’s New Nonalcoholic Beer Collab Proves Sober Can Still Be Fun

What to Do With the Last Bit of Jam

That near-empty jam jar still has plenty of flavor left—you just have to know how to use it. Instead of rinsing it out, pour in a splash of bourbon or whiskey, swirl, and you’ve got a quick cocktail mixer that adds depth and color to an old fashioned. The same trick works with sparkling water or seltzer for a quick flavored spritz.

You can also repurpose the jar into a meat or veggie glaze—add a bit of soy sauce or hot honey, shake it up, and brush it over grilled chicken or roasted carrots. For a quick breakfast use, add Greek yogurt or overnight oats straight into the jar, stir, and finish it off.

Even in the kitchen, that last bit of jam still has legs. Whisk it into a pan sauce for pork or salmon, stir it into balsamic reduction, or save the jar for homemade marinades. When you stop seeing the empty jar as trash, it becomes one of the smartest tools in your kitchen—and maybe your bar, too.

Why We Love This Deal

Skechers has long positioned itself as a go-to brand for quick, comfortable shoes that everyone, even those on a tight budget, can enjoy. The brand’s slip-ins have become a favorite among its fans, typically topping bestseller rankings. They even sport some cool design choices that you may associate with Nike Air Max. That’s why it’s exciting to see that a pair at Nordstrom Rack is now selling at half off the regular price.

The Skechers Slip-In Skech-Air Element 2.0 is now just $50 in its blue and lime green colorway at the Rack. It’s well-reviewed there, boasting a near-perfect rating after almost 20 votes.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Sizes Available: From 7.5 to 14
  • Style: Slip-on
  • Materials: Textile upper, Skech-air midsole, and synthetic sole
  • Best Use Case: Walking

What really separates this from your average casual pair of Skechers is the Skech-Air midsole. The air-infused gel is meant to keep things comfortable and light, while providing good bounce. Then, there’s the translucent appearance that’s admittedly a bit nostalgic. Now, it’s considered a sort of “hybrid” material, prized for its material value and looks. Walking on what appears to be jellyfish is surprisingly comfortable and cool-looking all at the same time.

The light blue and bright green combo in the pair here gives a lightweight appearance that will go great with both bright colors and as an accent to gray slacks and jeans. It’s somewhat unfortunate how women’s shoes seem to be more widely available in fun colors, but this Skechers bucks the trend and gives some delightful variation to men, too.

Does the cushioning work, or is it all gimmick? Well, shoppers are reporting high levels of comfort and “no pain after wearing them all day” due to the excellent foot and ankle support the shoe provides.

But, hey, they do look pretty slick, and another shopper bragged that “everyone loves the color.” So, whether you’re going for comfort, looks, or the hybrid this style is intended to be, you really can’t miss.

Popular Sam’s Club Supplement Linked to Salmonella—Here’s What to Know

If you’ve been mixing greens powder into your morning smoothie, you may want to check the label. The FDA and CDC have launched an investigation into Member’s Mark Super Greens Powder, a dietary supplement sold nationwide at Sam’s Club and online, after nearly a dozen Salmonella cases were reported across seven states. Officials say all lots of the product are now being recalled.

The outbreak, which has already led to several hospitalizations, has been traced to a single contaminated batch of moringa leaf powder imported from India. Here’s what the agencies have confirmed so far—and what you should do if you’ve bought or consumed the supplement.

Want trending news, op-eds, and top stories straight to your inbox? Sign up for our Daily newsletter.

Member’s Mark Super Greens Dietary Supplement

What We Know About the Recall

According to the FDA, Member’s Mark Super Greens Powder has been pulled from shelves nationwide and should not be consumed, sold, or served. Customers are advised to discard any remaining product or return it to Sam’s Club for a refund. The affected supplement contains moringa leaf powder linked to Salmonella contamination that originated from Vallon Farm Direct, a supplier based in Jodhpur, India.

Health officials have confirmed 11 infections across Florida, Kansas, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Three people have been hospitalized. Testing conducted in Michigan and Virginia detected the same Salmonella Richmond strain found in the recalled supplement, prompting a full-scale investigation into other products that may contain the same batch of moringa.

Symptoms of salmonella infection—typically including fever, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea, and vomiting—can appear within 12 to 72 hours after consumption. Most people recover without treatment, but young children, older adults, and those with compromised immune systems face a higher risk of severe illness.

What You Should Do

If you have Member’s Mark Super Greens Powder at home, throw it away immediately or return it to your local Sam’s Club. Even unopened containers should be discarded, since the contamination source was traced to an ingredient used across multiple production runs. The FDA also advises washing and sanitizing any surfaces or utensils that may have come into contact with the powder.

Consumers who experience symptoms after consuming the product should contact a healthcare provider and report the illness to their local health department or through the FDA’s online complaint form. As the investigation continues, additional moringa-based products could be added to the recall list, so it’s worth checking the FDA’s outbreak advisory page for updates.

The Trefoil Essentials Hoodie is beloved by shoppers. One shopper called the hoodie great for fall and said, “Nice fit, stylish for any age. Can’t talk enough about the material. Very soft and comfortable.”

As another shopper put it, “I like how it’s warm but not too warm.” This is a hoodie that gets it just right, not skimping on materials and running thin, but also not pretending to be a jacket. It’ll be perfect for casual office environments, classrooms, and trips down aisle 7 at the local market.

The Adidas Trefoil Essentials Hoodie will only be 40% off through Nov. 5, and some size/color combinations are already selling out. Don’t wait too long to get one for yourself.

United Airlines Planes Reportedly Collide at New York City Airport

Two planes made contact on the tarmac at New York’s LaGuardia Airport Friday, according to multiple reports.

United Airlines Flight 580, which had just arrived from Chicago, was turning into its arrival gate when it clipped the tail of United Flight 434. The latter flight was stationary and awaiting takeoff for Houston.

“We all felt a bump during taxi to the runway but didn’t know it was another plane until the captain said it was,” a passenger on United Flight 434 told the New York Post, which broke the news regarding the collision.

Thankfully, no one was injured, as “both planes returned to the gate and passengers deplaned normally,” United Airlines said. There were 328 passengers and 15 crew members on the two aircraft combined.

The accident occurred amid widespread delays at LaGuardia, JFK and Newark Airport in New Jersey due to high winds and staffing shortages. A ground stop was ordered at JFK until 7:30 p.m. ET because of staffing problems, with a ground delay in effect through early Saturday, according to the New York City Emergency Management Office.

Newark and JFK were also under ground delays because of wind and worker shortages, the Emergency Management Office said.

“Arrival rates range from 24 to 28 planes per hour through early Saturday morning,” the office added. “Average delay is about 140 minutes and some flights are delayed more than five hours. Departures from LaGuardia are also averaging 15-minute delays and increasing because of wind.”

Possible ‘disaster’ coming, warns government official

Amid the ongoing government shutdown, which has now lasted one month, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warned last week that air travel could get worse in November because of staffing issues and overworked traffic controllers.

“It’ll be a disaster in aviation,” Duffy said. “October is a slower, air travel month, and we have great weather in October. And so you’ve seen minimal disruption because of good weather and slower travel.

“But as we go into November, travel picks up as people start to look at going to see their families, kids come home from college.”

Duffy also warned of the possibility of unpaid air traffic controllers needing to find second jobs in order to support themselves and their families, which could cause “mass issues throughout the airspace.”
