Netflix Reportedly Cancels a Star-Packed Show Featuring a Long List of Major Celebrities

Throughout most of television history, it has been relatively easy for observers to predict which shows would be canceled by the networks. Since streaming services became a major force in the entertainment industry, that has changed, as many series that initially appeared to be hits have been prematurely ended.

According to a new report, it seems like there is another example of a show that is surprisingly coming to a sudden end. Even though a show has a long list of huge stars involved, Netflix has reportedly canceled a once much-touted series.

Netflix Reportedly Cancels Starting 5

On December 1, 2025, Sports Business Journal published an article stating that Netflix has canceled its docuseries Starting 5. It is important to note that Netflix hasn’t confirmed the report about the show’s cancellation. Men’s Journal has reached out to Netflix for official comment.

Two seasons of the docuseries were produced for Netflix before it was reported that it has come to an end. The first season of Starting 5 premiered in October 2024, and it returned for a second chapter a year later. Starting 5 is a sports docuseries that provided an inside view of an NBA season. Each season of the show tracked five superstar athletes and sought to capture their personal lives and career achievements throughout a season of their careers.

Starting 5 followed in the footsteps of several Netflix sports docuseries and documentaries that connected with the streaming service’s users. The most obvious examples of Netflix’s biggest sports docuseries and documentaries include The Last Dance, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Beckham, Athlete A, Icarus, and Full Swing, among others.

Starting 5 Stars and Is Produced by Huge Celebrities

Considering how successful sports documentaries and docuseries have been on Netflix in the past, that alone is enough reason to be surprised that Starting 5 has reportedly been canceled. However, the report claiming that the docuseries has come to an end is also shocking because of the star power of the people involved in it, both onscreen and behind the scenes.

Behind the scenes, Starting 5 is produced by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s production company, Higher Ground. On top of having the Former President and First Lady involved, Starting 5 was also produced by Uninterrupted, a production company founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter.

More importantly than having major names involved in Starting 5’s production, the show’s concept also led to it featuring huge sports stars onscreen. During the docuseries’ first season, it spotlighted the NBA stars LeBron James, Jimmy Butler, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, and Domantas Sabonis. The show’s second season focused on another five celebrity athletes. That season featured Tyrese Haliburton, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Jaylen Brown.

Dreo’s Super Compact Space Heater That’s ‘Quiet’ and ‘Efficient’ Is Now Only $30 at Walmart for Cyber Monday

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

The Walmart Cyber Monday event is loaded with all kinds of special discounts on tools, everyday essentials, and just about everything else you can imagine. One thing is for certain, though: Dreo home products have some of the deepest price cuts of all. While those of us in the still-muggy South will appreciate its tower fan at $55, the rest of the nation needs to eye this space heater that’s on sale for $30 until the sale ends on December 1.

The Dreo 1500W Space Heater is now just $30, 50% off its normal price. Even if temps aren’t freezing in your area yet, this price means now is the right time to buy. The 4.5-out-of-5-star heater isn’t going to be this price for long, and dozens of shoppers are picking up this deal by the day. Don’t miss out.

Dreo’s small but powerful 1500W space heater fits anywhere and starts warming the area within just a couple of seconds of being on. The ceramic heating element can be dialed to heat the room to anywhere from 41 to 95 degrees, set within a 1-degree precision.

The unit is rather quiet, sticking to about 34 dB, which is a sound level roughly between a whisper and a quiet library. That, along with safety features that include tip-over and overheating protection, makes it an excellent bedside companion during nippy fall and winter nights, too.

What Shoppers Are Saying

While this heater is perfect for a lot of environments, shoppers have strong opinions about who needs it the most. As one shopper put it, “This heater is perfect for cozy family spaces—it’s quiet, efficient, and safe.” And that last point, the safety and peace of mind that this Dreo provides, popped up in review after review.

One of the worst parts of turning on the heater when you get back home is waiting for the space to heat up. But shoppers are quick to point out how fast this little Dreo pushes out warm comfort. “It rapidly warms up any space, ensuring that you feel comfortable in no time.”

The Dreo 1500W Space Heater is just $34 right now. Even if you don’t quite need it yet, that’s a deal that you just can’t pass up.

Wife of Missing Football Coach Makes Telling Move on Social Media

Virginia high school football coach Travis Turner remains missing over a week after he was last seen. The 46-year-old Turner is considered a fugitive after being charged with five counts of child pornography and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor.

Amid the ongoing investigation, Turner’s wife Leslie has largely gone silent. In fact, she has now deleted her social media presence.

Facebook footprint gone

Leslie Turner had been active on Facebook before her husband’s disappearance, often posting about the exploits of his team, the Union High School Bears of Big Stone Gap, Virginia. However, according to Us Weekly, she deleted her account on Wednesday, November 26, one day after charges were filed against her spouse and six days after Travis Turner went missing.

The couple has been married for 25 years and shares three young children, per the New York Post. Leslie Turner’s final Facebook post before she scrubbed her account was shared late on the night of Friday, November 21 and eventually deleted even as her account remained active.

“I just wanted to get on here for a second to clear up something, as of right now, 10:25 PM on Friday night, Travis is missing, & that’s all we know,” she wrote. “We love him & need him here with us. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love & support. It means more than you know. Just keep praying that he comes home.”

In brief comments to the Daily Mail on November 25, Leslie Turner denied the charges against Travis, calling him a “good dad and a good husband.”

Turner was ‘armed’ when last seen, family says

Over the weekend, Adrian Collins, the attorney for the Turner family, released a statement saying the fugitive was last seen on November 20 walking into a wooded area while carrying a firearm.

“The last known contact the family had with Travis occurred on or about Thursday, November 20, after he left his residence to walk in the woods with a firearm,” Collins said, via WJHL 11. “He is believed to have entered a heavily wooded and mountainous area. At which point, no warrants had been issued for his arrest.”

Search efforts have been conducted by the Virginia State Police, along with other law enforcement and family and friends.

“It is the family’s prayer that Travis is safe and will have the opportunity to defend himself in a court of law,” Collins added.

Travis Turner remains on administrative leave

In a statement released last week, Wise County Public School Superintendent Mike Goforth confirmed Turner has been put on administrative leave.

“A staff member has been placed on administrative leave with pay while an external agency reviews an allegation that was reported to the division,” Goforth said. “This is standard procedure and is not a determination of wrongdoing. This situation also involves an active law-enforcement matter, and the division cannot comment further.”

Meanwhile, without Turner on the sideline, Union has continued its undefeated season. The Bears beat Ridgeview High School in the regional championship on Saturday to advance to the state semifinals this weekend.

Nike Is Selling This Top-Rated $160 Air Max Sneaker for as Low as $58, and It’s Selling Fast

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

The only thing better than getting a new pair of sneakers on sale is getting a new pair of very popular sneakers on super sale, particularly during Cyber Monday. When the pair in question is a stylish, futuristic pair of Nikes, like this pair of Air Maxes that’s going for more than half of their normal price, it’s a no brainer.

Nike Air Max Dn Essential sneakers are normally $160, but some colors are currently marked down up to 50% plus an additional 20% when you use the code CYBER at checkout. When all is said and done, the price works out to as little as $58. These shoes have earned nearly 630 five-star ratings and reviews saying they’re “Nike’s best shoe ever” because they’re one of “the most comfortable” in the Swoosh brand’s arsenal.

The “Dn” in the name of these shoes refers to the Dynamic Air system that uses dual-pressure tubes—firmest in the heel, softest in the midfoot. This disparity works to smooth the heel-to-toe transition as you walk or run, which Nike says creates a responsive sensation with every step. The mesh upper and foam midsole add breathability and cushioning, respectively. Aesthetically, they’re decidedly high-tech and futuristic thanks to exposed air tubes, textured upper, and distinct color palettes.

One reviewer self-described as something of an expert on Air Maxes. “I have purchased a bunch of Air Max shoes, including the 1s, 90s, 97s, Plus, 270s, and now the Dns,” they wrote, calling the Dns “the most comfortable of the lot.” That’s because they “feel airy and my feet don’t hurt at all even after 20k steps of walking in a day.” That makes them a “must-have” that is “seriously very underrated.”

“From the moment I put them on, the Air Max DN felt like walking on clouds,” wrote another reviewer, far from the only one to equate wearing these shoes with walking on clouds. ”The cushioning system provides excellent support, particularly in the heel area, making them perfect for long walks or all-day wear,” they continued.

Nike Air Max Dn Essential sneakers look like something out of The Matrix, but we can assure you that they are very real and very much on sale, though there’s no telling when stock will dwindle. Make sure to grab a pair today, because the special Cyber Monday promo will wrap soon.

Philips’ No. 1 Super-Automatic Espresso Machine Is $350 Off on Amazon for Cyber Monday

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why It’s a Big Deal

The La Marzocco machine at your local coffee shop that’s the size of a VW Beetle doubtlessly makes great espresso, but it can’t beat the convenience of a home espresso machine. The latest and greatest home espresso machines are very easy to operate, making it a cinch for anyone to make a high-quality shot, espresso-based drink, or sometimes just a regular cup of drip. If you’ve been pining for one, this internet-favorite model from one of the most trusted brands in kitchenware is over 40% less during Amazon’s Cyber Monday sale.

The Philips 3200 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine is just $450 at Amazon right now, a 44% discount from its normal $800 price tag. It’s earned thousands of five-star ratings, and customers appreciate that it’s very low maintenance and combines cutting-edge technology with exquisite design to make coffee that “tastes amazing every single time.” This model is Amazon’s No. 2 bestselling super-automatic espresso machine, and over 3,000 were sold in the last month.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Dimensions: 10″D x 17″W x 15″H
  • Color: Black
  • Coffee Types: Espresso, iced coffee, cappuccino, Americano, latte macchiato
  • Special Features: Built-in coffee grinder, milk frother, removable tank, water filter

The 3200 series is what’s called a super automatic espresso machine, which means it has an integrated grinder and automated brewing process (think “at the touch of a button”). Its 12-step ceramic grinder (and compartment for pre-ground coffee), on-board water filter, easy-to-rinse tubeless milk system, and five drink presets mean it’s a fantastic machine for folks who don’t have the time or interest to endlessly finetune settings, develop techniques, and generally geek out over coffee.

At full price, it’s still less expensive than similar machines from kitchen appliance brands like Breville and Bosch and specialty coffee equipment manufacturers like De’Longhi and Terra Kaffe. On sale, it’s dramatically less expensive.

What Shoppers Are Saying

Users say this thing is built to last. After 3 years of use in a hospital ward, where it goes through a case of beans every 2 months, one said, “This machine, with admittedly subpar maintenance, is still going strong.” Used by the nurses on the floor, this reviewer called this machine “one of the best purchases I’ve ever bought that has really stood up to the abuse.” If it can stand up to that kind of treatment, it’s hard to imagine that in-home use by just a handful of people with halfway decent maintenance would be an issue.

Another customer wrote that they are “very happy” with this machine because “it’s easy to use, easy to clean, and the coffee tastes amazing every single time,” while the milk frother “works great for lattes and cappuccinos.” This machine “saves us so much time and money compared to coffee shops.”

The Philips 3200 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine is a great way to save on visits to the coffee shop, and this sale is a great way to save on it. Amazon’s Cyber Monday sale wraps up at the end of Dec. 1, so if you’re interested in becoming an amateur barista, we’d recommend you grab one ASAP before the price jumps back up.

Blundstone’s Classic Chelsea Boots Are Over $30 Off, but Only Until Tomorrow

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

The acclaimed Australian bootmaker Blundstone just launched its Holiday Sale, and while the discounts aren’t huge (15% off sitewide), it’s still a historic event: This is the only time during the year when you can score the brand’s iconic Classics and Originals boots—including the bestselling #585 highlighted here—on sale direct from the source. The sale runs from now until Dec. 2, but there’s a good chance some of these coveted styles will sell out, so don’t snooze.

While the sale is live, you can get Blundstone #585 boots for $179, a $31 drop from their normal price of $210. This model is one of Blundstone’s most popular styles, and it’s available at that price across several colorways with full size ranges in stock.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Style: Chelsea boot
  • Colorways Available: 8
  • Sizes Available: 6-16
  • Upper: Leather
  • Sole: TPU
  • Best For: Everyday wear, wearing in bad weather, gardening, yard work

The #585 is one of Blundstone’s top-tier bestsellers, and it has become especially popular over the last few years, being spotted everywhere from late-night TV couches to backyard gardens.

This boot features a premium leather upper, which makes it both durable and weather-resistant, as well as undeniably handsome no matter what shade of hide you pick. The contrast stitching on the upper and the dual pull tabs at the top are classic Blundstone details, and they give these boots a more laid-back look than dressier Chelsea boots on the market (though Blundstone makes dress boots, too). Those pull tabs and the elastic gores make these boots easy to pull on and off, so they’re a great pick for daily wear.

Blundstones are renowned for their comfy ride thanks to the cushioned midsole and removable footbeds, and on the bottom, the lugged TPU outsole serves up reliable grip in all weather.

One shopper called the #585 “super comfy and very well built,” and another praised the boot’s “very classy” aesthetic—it looks great dressed up or down. One shopper put their pair to the test while backpacking and working on projects in all weather conditions and found they performed perfectly. They called the #585 “the best investment you can make for a nice-looking, all-season, one-shoe-does-it-all work boot.” High praise indeed.

Our Honest Thoughts

Men’s Journal Senior Commerce Editor, Anthony Mastracci, has been wearing his #585 boots for about three weeks now with his selvedge jeans and a variety of waxed jackets, and he said they’re a very smart pick for weather that could involve rain throughout the day.

“It’s great that they’re water-resistant—I don’t feel bad about trekking outside for lunch in the rain,” he said.

He also said picking your size is very important and deserves some closer attention. “I’m really like a size U.S. men’s 10.75. I ended up getting the 11 (which is an AUS 10), and thanks to the extra insoles that come in the box, they fit perfectly.”

Don’t miss your chance to score this once-a-year 15% discount on Blundstone’s bestselling #585—grab your pair today before the sale or sizes disappear.

Brooks’ Weather-Ready Stability Running Shoes Are $50 Off Right Now

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

Most running shoes use breathable mesh to keep feet comfortable, but that may not be the best idea during colder, rainier months. Instead, waterproof running shoes are a better pick for outdoor runs on pavement that may be wet from rain. They’re a little harder to find, but Brooks makes a weatherized version of its beloved Adrenaline runner that’s ready to keep you moving, and they’re on sale for Cyber Monday.

Brooks’ Adrenaline GTS 24 Weatherized Running Shoes are now just $100 during the brand’s Cyber Monday sale, a 33% discount off their regular price of $150. Designed to provide all the support and grip you need in a package that can withstand all the elements, they have quickly become a favorite for running in less-than-ideal conditions.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Color: Black and yellow
  • Sizes: 7 to 15
  • Weight: 10.6 ounces
  • Heel-to-toe Drop: 12mm
  • Support: High

Building on Adrenaline’s popular lineup of stability running shoes, this GTS 24 version features a weatherized finish, meaning they’re water-resistant and have enhanced outsoles for ultimate traction. If the leaves are falling and your runs are wet and rainy, they provide excellent traction and will work just as well for winter training.

To keep them on the lighter side, these shoes have a 10.6-ounce build with a 12-millimeter drop, resulting in a more balanced shoe similar to what you would find in this lineup. They pair Brooks’ signature GuideRains support with plush and soft cushioning for a smooth-running experience.

While you may think that a weatherproof shoe would breathe well (looking at your Gore-Tex), these shoes are crafted from temperature-regulating materials. They allow your feet to stay warm during chilly runs while avoiding overheating. If you do need that extra warmth, you can easily toss on some thicker socks, and you won’t feel like your feet are smashed or jam-packed inside, either.

Related: Merrell’s ‘Extremely Warm’ and Waterproof Hiking Boots Are Only $42 for Black Friday

What Shoppers Are Saying

Runners love that these sneakers have the feel of the original Adrenaline with a tougher build without feeling heavier. One runner called it a “godsend” as they continue their running both on roads and light trails all winter long, keeping their feet “warm, dry, and supported.”

Another appreciated the improved traction, stiffer weatherproof materials, and more cushioning. which they said “makes this feel much better than the normal 24s.” They claimed that even if you don’t need weatherproofing, this one is “more comfortable and better made.”

When Brooks running shoes get a discount, they sell through fast, and this weatherized Adrenaline is likely to follow suit. Hurry to secure your pair.

Arc’teryx’s Warm but Lightweight Pullover Hoodie Is Now Under $150

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

While Arc’teryx may be best known for its premium, battle-tested mountaineering and ski jackets, don’t sleep on its lighter performance layers. The brand has a robust lineup of running and lightweight hiking gear that has developed a fan base over the years. Among the collection is the Delta Pullover Hoody, which combines the tech of cold-weather gear into an incredibly lightweight design. Like most Arc’teryx pieces, it’s a little pricey, but during REI’s annual Cyber Week Sale, it’s marked down by over $30, and sizes are still available.

Now just $146 at REI, the Arc’teryx Delta Pullover Hoody is that unicorn layer, providing excellent warmth in a breathable design that performs as well on the mountainside as it does on coffee runs. It all comes in a featherlight package with a tremendous warmth-to-weight ratio. Two colors are on sale at this price, and though sizes are in stock at the moment, that likely won’t be the case for long.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Color: Olive, orange
  • Size: S to 2XL
  • Type: Mock pullover hoodie with scuba hood
  • Materials: Polyester fleece
  • Moisture Wicking: Yes
  • Weight: 7.4 ounces
  • Best For: Trail running, road running, hiking, casual wear

A smart buy for fall hikes, cold-weather runs, or layering up for lazy weekend city strolls, this hoodie can do it all. Its polyester fleece core does a phenomenal job at trapping heat against your body without weighing you down as other insulated jackets would. It also features a 40-denier face fabric to enhance durability for daily wear and tear, and includes underarm panels that wick moisture to prevent overheating.

What stands out the most here is the weight. This hoodie is just 7.4 ounces, so it wears more like a base layer than a technical fleece. And that’s on top of a mountain of thoughtful features, like the scuba-style hood that stays comfortably in place. It also nails the smaller details, such as elastic cuffs and hem, a laminated chest pocket, and flatlock seams for ideal comfort—a must for a baselayer to prevent itching and irritation.

What Shoppers Are Saying

While there are no reviews currently available at REI, over at Zappos, a handful of shoppers left their thoughts. While some were critical of the sizing, one shopper loved how it fit, saying it’s more comfortable than Patagonia’s R1 hoodie. “Design is great, materials are good—a slightly thicker version of Arc’teryx’s sun hoody.

Another reviewer who loves going up mountains said they were “loving this as a base and chill layer.” They noted that it’s light and warm with a relaxed fit, and loose enough, so that they’re “not trying to strip it off once I get out of the mountains.”

If you’re looking for a base-layer that performs like a traditional jacket, then the Arc’teryx Delta hoodie is a great choice. This is a rare discount for this item, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see sizes go quickly, so don’t wait to grab yours.

Why We Love This Deal

Some of the prices during Walmart’s Cyber Monday sale are so low they’ll make you refresh your browser in disbelief. The retailer just went live with thousands of excellent holiday discounts on the heels of its Black Friday sale, and they’re not just dinky markdowns: We’re talking deals of 45% and up on everything from pellet grills to smart TVs and more. This massive deal on a bestselling portable jump starter is another major standout, so much so that I actually just bought one myself.

The Gooloo GE1500 Portable Car Battery Jump Starter is on sale for $34, a 74% discount from its normal price of $130. This jump starter is a smash hit bestseller at Walmart, and it’s a fantastic price: From what I’ve seen, models like this one typically retail for well over $100, and although many are on sale at Walmart right now, this is one of the best deals in the entire category. Although it’s a generic brand, Gooloo jump starters are quite popular on Walmart and Amazon, and they’re recommended by automotive publications like Autoblog and Car and Driver.

Others have been impressed with its performance, especially given its small size: One shopper reported it “fits easily in your glove compartment or trunk” and yet “packs a powerful punch” for cranking engines to life quickly.

Scoring this top-rated jump starter for nearly $100 off its purchase price is the kind of deal that only comes around once a year, if ever, so don’t miss out: Head over to Walmart and snag yours before this Cyber Monday pricing disappears.
