Move Over Broderie Blouses—Jeans and Sandals Look Much Chicer With This Trending Alternative
If I were to think of my personal style muses in order, there’s one Gen Z It girl whom continues to reign supreme—Hailey Bieber. With an enviable ability to make capsule wardrobe classics feel cooler, and far more fashion-forward, her looks long been the focal point of my saved folder.
Whilst vacationing in the Balerics with husband Justin and son Jacks Blue, Hailey provided (me) and the rest of her eagle-eyed fashion followers with a treat: an Instagram dump. Whilst I’ll be saving her baby blue pedi for my next trip to the salon, it was her tie-front blouse that really sparked my interest.

Opposed to the minimal ties we’ve seen this summer, the beauty mogul refreshed the trusty jeans-and-nice-top formula once again, opting for a swooping, almost cleavage baring tie-front top. Pairing with a pair of washed blue Levi’s Ribcage jeans with a strappy black vintage sandal, the light, playful finish it added goes unmatched.
Pairing just just well with this seasons rotation midi skirts, linen trousers and cropped capris as it does jeans, this pretty blouse trend is an easy way to make your staples feel refreshed. So if you’re looking for one more blouse to end the summer on a high, keep scrolling to shop the tie-front blouse trend below.

I’ve Been Reaching for These Soothing Body Creams to Calm My Sun-Stressed Skin
Besides my skincare, there isn’t much about my beauty routine that I’m diligent with. I rarely have my nails done, always skip my brow appointments and am proud of myself if I visit the hairdressers for a trim even twice a year. Yet there’s one beauty habit that I rarely skip, and that’s applying body cream. In the winter months I’m militant about it, slathering on rich body butters and luxurious body oils to rescue my dry legs once they’re released from beneath thick tights and woolly socks at the end of the day. During summer, however, it definitely feels like more of a chore. When the air is thick with humidity, the last thing I want to do when I climb out of the shower is to apply another layer to my already warm skin.

This year, though, I’ve been reminded that it’s almost more crucial to look after summer skin. After weeks of heatwaves, long afternoons spent outdoors, the odd brush with too much sun (despite rigorous sunscreen application) and more mosquito bites than I’d care to count, my skin has been feeling decidedly more reactive than radiant. Even something as simple as sitting on dry grass with the kids or spending a few hours in the garden can leave it feeling itchy, sensitive and in need of a little extra care.

Which is where soothing body creams come into their own. Rather than simply replenishing moisture, the best formulas are designed to calm stressed skin with ingredients like cooling aloe vera, comforting oat and hyaluronic acid to replenish moisture. The result is skin that feels softer, calmer and far more comfortable, without the heaviness that can put you off reaching for body cream in the first place.
Ahead, I’ve rounded up the soothing body creams I genuinely reach for when my skin needs a little TLC.
The 9 Best Soothing Body Creams
1. Dove Cica + Repair Body Serum
Best for everyday use
If you tend to skip body cream in the warmer months, then this affordable formula is brilliant as it has the slip of a body serum with the hydration of a classic cream. The star ingredient is cica, which is known for its calming properties, and I found it particularly comforting after long days outdoors when my skin tends to get a little red and itchy. Despite the name, it is actually quite rich in texture too and is also brimming with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and hydroxy stearic acid to help strengthen and restore the skin barrier. I noticed with this one that my skin immediately felt more comfortable after applying it, but having kept it up regularly, I’m most impressed with how smooth and supple my skin feels overall.
Pros
- Nourishing formula
- Affordable
Cons
- Quite hard to squeeze out the tube initially
2. Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream
Best for damaged skin barrier
Whenever my skin feels genuinely stressed-out rather than just dry, this is the cream I reach for. Developed for sensitive skin, it’s a Korean formula that is packed with ceramides to reinforce the skin barrier while helping to reduce moisture loss over time. The cream looks rich when it comes out of the tube but melts surprisingly well as you massage it in, creating a cocooning layer without feeling greasy. Plus, my sister, who has the most sensitive and eczema-prone skin, swears by this for calming and hydrating irritation. It’s a dependable option that works well for body and face and offers reassurance when your skin has been through a lot.
Pros
- Great for long-term skin health
- Leaves skin feeling comfortable all day
Cons
- A richer texture that not everyone will love
3. Alpha-H Daily Dose Multivitamin Body Serum
Best for brightening dull skin
This feels more like elevated skincare than a traditional body lotion. The silky serum feels delightfully cooling on the skin and sinks in almost immediately—ideal if you’re applying in the morning before you get dressed. Although there are lots of ingredients in this, and there is vitamin C, which very sensitive skin types might need to be wary of, I loved just how healthy this made my skin look over time. Especially after sun exposure when my skin tends to look quite dry and dull, the combination of niacinamide and hyaluronic acid was great at soothing and restoring hydration while the vitamin C adds a little glow, along with antioxidant support. It won’t replace a rich body butter if your skin is severely dehydrated, but if you’re looking for brighter, more even skin, then this is brilliant stuff.
Pros
- Lightweight silky texture
- Leaves skin glowing
Cons
- Might not suit very sensitive skin
4. CeraVe Intensive Moisturising Cream
Best for very dry skin
Despite being really good at applying SPF, I was really sad that I slightly burnt my shoulders a few weeks back after a long day outside. Of course, a classic after-sun was my first port of call, but in the days that followed, when my skin started to feel flaky, tight and generally miserable, this was the cream that I reached for. It has a satisfyingly rich consistency that immediately cushions dry areas without feeling overly heavy. And it’s packed with ceramides and hydrating ingredients, so it focuses on strengthening the skin barrier too. I particularly like applying it at night so it can really sink in, but I think that anyone with excessively dry skin will love using this. It’s practical rather than luxurious, but sometimes dependable skincare is exactly what’s needed.
Pros
- Deeply nourishing
- Excellent for barrier repair
Cons
- Takes a little time to sink in
5. Q+A Magnesium Body Butter
Best for soothing achy legs
This body cream isn’t just about soothing your skin; it’s an invitation to slow down and calm your mind too. The whipped butter has a beautiful, cushiony texture that melts beautifully into the skin—and feels so much more expensive than the price tag—while the magnesium gets to work soothing tired muscles and limbs. This is great if you’ve been walking lots or had long days out, as it really does help your skin to recover overnight while the calming lavender and vanilla scent soothes the senses. It feels like an added bonus that by morning my skin felt velvety soft and smooth too.
Pros
- Rich, comforting texture
- Calming lavender and vanilla scent
Cons
- Best for evening use
6. Gun Ana Body Repair Serum
Best for heat-stressed summer skin
This feels tailor-made for skin that’s had one too many afternoons outdoors. It contains mint molecules for an instantly cooling effect that helps to take the heat out of the skin, alongside a complex of oat, wheat germ and rosehip oil to calm and strengthen. The gel-serum texture is wonderfully refreshing and helps to reduce that slightly tight, irritated feeling that comes after sun exposure, insect bites or simply being outside all day. And it really does sink in quickly, leaving behind a soft sheen rather than any noticeable residue. It’s one of the few body products I genuinely enjoy reaching for in warm weather because it feels so weightless.
Pros
- Cooling, lightweight feel
- Perfect for summer use
Cons
- Not rich enough for winter dryness
7. Aveeno Daily Moisturising Calming Relief Lotion
Best for itchy skin
There are a few people with very sensitive skin in my family, so Aveeno’s oat-based formulas have long been a staple in my bathroom, and this soothing lotion reminds me exactly why. This contains oat extract, which works brilliantly to calm skin that’s feeling itchy and uncomfortable, while the lotion itself has a silky consistency that spreads easily over larger areas. This version also has the added bonus of having a calming lavender fragrance that helps you to unwind after a long day too. Bonus points for the pump applicator too, which makes it so easy to dispense the lotion without a mess.
Pros
- Calms irritation
- Relaxing scent
Cons
- Not everybody will love the added lavender
8. Byoma Body Sensitive Skin Body Lotion
Best for sensitive skin
Like everything that Byoma does, the focus of this body cream is to support and strengthen the skin barrier—but this has an added focus on reducing sensitivity alongside keeping moisture levels balanced. The formula is totally fragrance-free, and it has a rich, buttery texture that feels so comforting on the skin. It’s enriched with a tri-ceramide complex, oat extract and shea butter, so it’s really ticking all the boxes for strengthening, soothing and hydrating skin. I find it particularly useful after shaving when my legs can feel really dry and reactive, but it’s so easy to apply that you can slather it on whenever skin needs another hit of calming moisture.
Pros
- Supports the skin barrier
- Fragrance-free
- Affordable
Cons
- Not for those who want a scented cream
9. Pai Gentle Genius Barrier Care Soothing Body Cream
Best for reactive skin
If you’re in the midst of a flare-up or your skin is sending out a real SOS, then this nourishing cream is a bit of a rescue remedy. It’s brimming with a tonne of barrier-supporting ingredients and calming natural ingredients like soothing calendula, calming oat extract and moisturising olive squalane, which work to reduce redness and discomfort in the skin while keeping it comfortably hydrated. I think this would be a particularly good body cream to pack if you’re going away somewhere hot, as it really helped to take down dryness and leave skin looking soft, supple and healthy. It’s undoubtedly one of the more premium options here, but the thoughtful formula makes it feel worth the investment if your skin is prone to flare-ups.
Pros
- Feels luxurious on the skin
- Instantly calms
Cons
- It’s a more expensive option

I ID’d Kendall Jenner’s Favourite Sunscreen—It’s Hydrating, Layers Seamlessly Under Makeup and Has Zero White Cast

What sunscreen does a supermodel use to keep her skin hydrated, protected, and looking flawless under makeup? It’s not a rhetorical question! If the supermodel in question is Kendall Jenner, then I know the answer. She’s loyal to a certain Korean SPF that delivers long-lasting hydration, barrier support and a nearly invisible finish. The best part? It only costs £18, which is a fraction of the cost of other celeb-loved formulas. Keep scrolling to see the exact sunscreen she loves.
Anua Zero-Cast Moisturizing Finish Sunscreen
Jenner, who was recently named Anua’s global brand ambassador, uses the Zero-Cast Moisturizing Finish Sunscreen in her summer skincare routine. Before I detail all of the extra skin benefits it offers, I want to start with the most basic and important aspect: sun protection. It delivers broad-spectrum SPF 50 to keep the skin safe from harsh UVA and UVB rays. The chemical sunscreen uses a combo of UV filters, including avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate and octocrylene.
Beyond that, though, it offers myriad benefits. Let’s talk about hydration first. Thanks to hyaluronic acid and glycerin, it moisturises the skin for an impressive 72 hours after application. Those ingredients also contribute to the sunscreen’s lightweight, watery texture, but more on that in a minute. Meanwhile, niacinamide and panthenol strengthen the skin’s natural moisture barrier to keep that hydration locked in and even balance oil production.
The texture is similar to a creamy skin serum. Think lightweight, watery and easily spreadable on the skin. Once it dries down, it’s nearly invisible with no greasy residue or white cast, and it layers so well under foundation, concealer, blush and bronzer—no smudging, pilling, or lifting. In fact, P&K Skin Research Center conducted a study to assess its “makeup adhesion.” In the study, 100% of people between the ages of 20 and 59 agreed that it provided an invisible finish with zero pore-clogging effects or excess oiliness. Even though it provides a highly glowy finish, you don’t have to worry about it exacerbating acne.

This serum uses 10% azelaic acid and three types of hyaluronic acid to soothe redness. It’s one of my favourite rosacea serums, and I recommend it all the time.

Jenner is also a fan of this face mist, which is infused with encapsulated PDRN, hydrolysed collagen, and hyaluronic acid. Together, these ingredients hydrate, plump and firm the skin whilst giving it a glass-like glow.

ICYMI, heartleaf is the ultimate skin-soothing ingredient. In this cleansing oil, it keeps the skin calm and clear while the formula dissolves oil, makeup and sunscreen.

With PDRN, hydrolysed collagen and hyaluronic acid, this lightweight moisturiser deeply quenches dry skin while providing a serious glow boost.

This milky toner is so good. It uses 70% rice water, niacinamide and ceramides to brighten dullness, balance oil production and strengthen the skin barrier. Plus, the smoothing, plumping formula is safe for acne-prone skin.

5 Easy, Elegant Pieces Every Summer Staycation Packing List Needs, According to An Expert
Not to toot my own horn, but I like to consider myself a bit of a staycation expert. As a lover of the outdoors who revels in the less celebrated side of British weather, I’ve camped and glamped across the UK, gone for a swim in the North Sea in October and even chosen a week in a cottage in Wales over an all-inclusive holiday in Spain.
But my staycation knowledge extends far beyond the ability to recommend idyllic Cornish bays and Welsh farm shops. Packing for a holiday in the UK requires a very different approach than packing for a trip abroad, and I’ve got it down to a fine art.
It requires striking the perfect balance between style, function and comfort, which means a mix of versatile dresses, good quality footwear, cool basics, and high-performance outerwear which can be styled with minimum effort, allowing you to move from country walks to pub dinner with ease.
Finding pieces that tick all those boxes isn’t easy, but with plenty of practice ( and plenty of ‘I wore the wrong shoes for this’ moments) I’ve landed on five staycation-proof staples I pack every single time.
So whether you’ve got a summer staycation booked and have no clue what to pack, or are looking to upgrade your usual British holiday wardrobe, below I’ve compiled an edit of the five pieces that will work hard and look good. Read on to find out more.
The Ultimate Packing List for Summer Staycations 2026
1. Broderie Anglaise Dress

Style Notes: Typically made from cotton, this feminine style of dress is as stunning as it is comfortable and easy to wear. The delicate embroidery detail gives the dress a heritage feel that can be leaned into with a raffia tote and knee-high boots, or modernised with trainers and a scarf or plaid shirt in place of a belt.
Shop Broderie Anglaise Dresses:
2. Long Sleeve T-Shirt

Style Notes: Long sleeve t-shirts may sound a bit dull, but they’ve taken on a cooler vibe than your average basic this year, layered under oversized short-sleeve tees in a nod to 90s grunge, or featuring slogans and graphic detailing. Simply add to a statement pair of jeans or colourful athletic shorts and trainers for effortless style.
Shop Long Sleeve T-Shirts:

The perfect addition to cargo trousers and ‘ugly’ trainers.
3. Technical Jacket

Style Notes: The technical jacket has evolved far beyond its practical origins to become a staple in the wardrobes of the most stylish. The appeal lies as much in its ability to give outfits an effortlessly relaxed, off-duty edge as it does in its ability to keep you warm and dry, making it the perfect summer layer. Wear with a cotton midi skirt and fisherman sandals on dry days and swap to trainers when the weather turns.
Shop Technical Jackets:
4. Longline Shorts

Style Notes: Bermudas blew the shorts trend wide open giving us more styles than ever before. While both denim and tailored versions have their place in a holiday wardrobe, for a staycation the longline short (their slightly longer and more relaxed sister style) strikes the perfect balance between comfort and polish and work with everything from loafers to ballet flats.
Shop Longline Shorts:
5. Hi-Tech Trainers

Style Notes: You’ll never regret packing a pair of these for a staycation. They have both style and substance covered, elevating more practical pieces like leggings and waterproof jackets, but also allowing you wear less practical pieces like dresses and jeans to the beach or on a long walk while remaining comfortable.

My Goal Is to Look Expensive This August—7 Stylish Outfits I’ve Saved For Later
As we turn the corner into the last (and arguably hottest) month of summer, 31 lazy, hazy days stand between us and (hopefully) some cooler weather. Having now lost count of the number of times I’ve slipped on a pretty maxi dress and comfy pair of flip-flops, or shrugged on a frog-fastened blouse and denim shorts over the last two months, this August, I’ve decided to start anew.
After taking stock of the summer wardrobe I’ve worn and loved for work, weekends and everything in between, finding a way to make the same pieces feel fresh again has been a bit of a challenge. As a micro trend enthusiast, I headed to the one place I knew would never fail me—the chic dressers on my social media feed.

Always willing to provide a chic outfit, the content creators on my Instagram didn’t disappoint. As a pared-back dresser who will dabble with colour every once in a while, their rotation of classic shapes and stylish accessories instantly piqued my interest. After hours of trawling my social media feed, I was able to narrow down seven easy-to-recreate outfit ideas I’m banking for when I’m in need of a fashionable pick-me-up.

In fact, almost every outfit in my edit below focuses on elegant and elevated elements that feel fresh for summer 2026, whilst still managing to be timeless enough for the anti-trend dressers amongst us. So, if you’re in need of a touch of inspiration when dressing for the month ahead, then you’re in luck. Keep scrolling to see the seven outfits chic dressers (and now me) will be wearing on repeat this August.
7 Failsafe Outfits To Take You Through August
1. Pretty Blouse + Linen Shorts + Ballet Flats

Style Notes: Opting for a blouse in a vivid aqua hue, Nnenna Echem(pictured above) uses classic ballet flats to make relaxed linen shorts feel more stylish than I’d considered possible. I especially appreciate how she’s kept her accessories minimal, allowing her pretty lace trim top to really shine.
Shop the Look:

It always surprises me just how affordable M&S’s shoe selection is.

I was finally able to track down Nnenna’s Tom Ford sunnies.
2. T-Shirt + Broderie Anglaise Skirt + Flip Flops

Style Notes: You can never go wrong with white in summer, but to give your look a more transitional spin, style your weather-appropriate broderie maxi skirt and fitted white T-shirt with a contrasting pair of black flip-flops, striped shoulder bag and light jumper (perfect for a chilly office air-con).
Shop the Look:

This top also comes in grey, white and blue, black and white and navy.

This looks almost identical to Ingrid Edvinsen‘s own.
3. Draped Top + Bermuda Shorts + Peep Toes

Style Notes: Leaning into autumn’s moodier hues, Claire Most (pictured above), slouched white Bermuda shorts are lent a refreshed finish. Matching her draped top to her prim peep-toe heels, their subdued shade really allows her shorts to shine. Who said dark colours can’t work in summer?
Shop the Look:

This top would look just a good with a tailored pair of trousers and a loafer in autumn.
4. Fitted T-shirt + Midi Skirt + Kitten Heel Sandals

Style Notes: We’ve loved red and dabbled in aqua, but in August, Marianne Smyth makes a case for vibrant, royal blue [pictured above]. Her leather midi skirt might not feel like the most obvious choice in summer, but add strappy kitten heels and you show enough skin to balance things out. Bonus points if you finish with her signature silver jewellery and a slouchy clutch bag.
Shop the Look:

I’ve worn strappy kitten heels all summer and this Massimo Dutti pair are some of the most comfortable about.
5. Long Sleeved T-shirt + Maxi Skirt + Ballet Flats

Style Notes: As a pared-back dresser, this Annabel Rosendahl look [above] instantly tickled my fancy. From her almost-sheer-but-not long-sleeved T-shirt to her striking black split-hem midi skirt, there’s not a single piece in this outfit I don’t simply adore and wouldn’t mix and match to wear again.
Shop the Look:

Wrap-around sunglasses have been all the rage this summer.

If you’re in-between sizes I’d always advise you size up in AllSaints footwear.
6. Maxi Dress + Flannel Shirt + Boots

Style Notes: With a number of warner days on the horizon, it’s not time to pack away your summer dress just yet. For a refreshed look, take style cues from Tia Dewitt [pictured above] and style yours with a loose flannel around the waist and a structured moto boot come cooler days.
Shop the Look:

Stay true to size in this flannel as it comes naturally oversized.
7. Kaftan + Strappy Sandals + Woven Bag

Style Notes: Could I really compile a list of chic outfits without including one Debora Rosa (pictured above) look? Casting a powerful silhouette in her sweeping kaftan and dainty toe-loop sandals, the outfit’s polish remains unmatched.
Shop the Look:

Wooden beaded tote bags have been all over my FYP thanks to Saint Laurent.

Smokey and the Bandit Leaves Netflix: Fans Must Find Burt Reynolds Classic Elsewhere
Netflix subscribers have one less Burt Reynolds classic to revisit.
As of Aug. 1, Smokey and the Bandit is no longer streaming on Netflix after quietly leaving the platform on July 31. The 1980 follow-up, Smokey and the Bandit II, also departed as part of Netflix’s latest content rotation.
One of Burt Reynolds’ Most Beloved Movies
Nearly 50 years after its release, Smokey and the Bandit remains one of the films most closely associated with Reynolds’ career.
The 1977 action-comedy holds a 71% critics score and an impressive 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of Reynolds’ highest-rated movies among fans.
Directed by legendary stuntman Hal Needham, the film stars Reynolds as legendary truck driver Bo “Bandit” Darville, who accepts a high-stakes challenge to transport 400 cases of Coors beer from Texas to Georgia in just 28 hours.
Along the way, he picks up runaway bride Carrie, played by Sally Field, setting off a cross-country chase with some of the most memorable one-liners in movie history, led by the unforgettable Sheriff Buford T. Justice, portrayed by Jackie Gleason.
Released in 1977, Smokey and the Bandit became one of the year’s biggest box office successes and helped cement Reynolds as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
The movie’s mix of high-speed car chases, practical stunts, Southern humor, and the now-iconic black Pontiac Trans Am made it an enduring fan favorite that continues to attract new audiences decades later.
Its success also spawned two theatrical sequels, with Smokey and the Bandit II reuniting Reynolds, Field, Gleason, and Needham for another cross-country adventure in 1980.
While streaming libraries are constantly changing, the departure means fans hoping to revisit one of Burt Reynolds’ most beloved performances will now have to look beyond Netflix to ride along with the Bandit once again.

Taylor Sheridan Returning for Onscreen Role in ‘Lioness’ Season 3
Taylor Sheridan is returning to the screen.
The prolific creator behind Lioness, Yellowstone, Landman, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and The Madison will also appear onscreen in season 3 of Paramount+’s hit spy thriller, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The surprise appearance marks Sheridan’s latest acting role after previously making a brief cameo in Lioness season 2.
Sheridan Will Share Scenes With Thad Luckinbill
The news was confirmed by actor Thad Luckinbill, who plays CIA paramilitary officer Kyle McManus in the series.
“He’s involved. I mean, he has a role, which is great,” Luckinbill told The Hollywood Reporter. “And the show’s better for it when he plays a role.”
Luckinbill added that Sheridan “kills it” in the part and revealed the two share scenes together during the upcoming season. Sheridan previously appeared in Lioness as CIA officer Cody Spears, but season 3 will expand his on-camera presence.
Although Sheridan is now best known as one of television’s most successful creators, acting was his first career in Hollywood.
Before creating the Yellowstone universe, Sheridan appeared in series including Sons of Anarchy, Banshee, and Veronica Mars. He has also made on-screen appearances in Yellowstone and 1883, occasionally stepping in front of the camera while continuing to write and produce.
Luckinbill, who also worked with Sheridan in the 2018 military drama 12 Strong, said the creator approaches acting the same way he approaches every other role on a production.
“He’s so real,” Luckinbill said. “Whether he’s an actor, writer, director or a producer, he’s still the same guy.”
Season 3 Promises Higher Stakes
According to co-star Matt Gerald, who plays Army Delta Force operator Cody J, the new season raises the stakes even further.
“It starts with a bang,” Gerald told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s nonstop throughout the entirety of the season — and it ends with a bang.”
The cast also underwent extensive military training ahead of filming, including weapons drills, close-quarters combat, breaching exercises, and tactical movement with former special operations personnel.
Per Paramount+, Lioness Season 3 follows Joe (Zoe Saldaña) as “hidden networks, foreign operatives and personal betrayals collide,” forcing her to confront a conflict that reaches into every part of her life.
Lioness season 3 premieres Sunday, August 2 on Paramount+.

Southwest Airlines Quietly Moving Forward With Subtle Change
Earlier this year Southwest Airlines announced a change to its boarding process with travelers selecting an assigned seat rather than being assigned a boarding group and being able to select their own seat upon boarding.
“All tickets purchased for travel starting Jan. 27, 2026, will feature assigned seating. Moreover, Southwest Airlines Customers can choose their preferred fare bundle, including the opportunity to purchase assigned and premium seating and select a seat at booking,” the airline said in a statement at the time.
In addition to the airline adding new bag fees, Southwest ran into trouble keeping their flights on time after travelers struggled to adjust to the new norms. With a lack of immediate overhead space near their seats, travelers were left to do more bin-searching and ultimately more gate checking.
Now Southwest is making a change to overcome that issue.
Southwest Airlines Changes Boarding Times
In a new report from View From the Wing, Southwest Airlines is moving up boarding times by five minutes to combat the boarding issues stemming from its decision to change the boarding process.
“Effective August 1, 2026 Southwest Airlines will begin boarding Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 aircraft 5 minutes earlier. The airline has not announced the change, but the flight attendants union put out the word to cabin crew,” View From the Wing revealed.
Airline insider Gary Leff revealed Southwest could take as much as an $825 million hit from the move.
“Since then there’s been 46.5% growth in the fleet, so 8-10 aircraft in 2010 scales to 12-15 planes today. At $55 million per aircraft that’s a cost of $660 to $825 million. That’s a hidden cost of Southwest’s checked bag fees that nobody calculates,” he said.
The change kicks in on Aug. 1.
