I’m a Shopping Director—My Forever Wedding Guest Dressing Rule and Pretty Nordstrom Styles for the Season

Retail Therapy: The Show is here. I turn into “Dr. Bobby” and bring my monthly column to life, helping various characters navigate their style and shopping woes. If you haven’t watched the premiere episode focused on business casual dressing, hello, watch! The second episode just dropped about wedding guest dresses.

Watch below as I help one of our editors, Emma, with a very specific wedding dress code. My biggest forever rule is to skew on the dressier side (even if the dress code seems casual). It’s better to be a little overdressed than underdressed. I prefer to avoid super-bright colors and go for dark neutrals or pretty pastels. For a print, a nice floral always works.

In this episode, the dress code was “Mountain Chic, Refined Rustic Glam”—a tough one to nail. After trying on several looks (all lovely on their own), I finally found the winner. It perfectly fits the theme with its rustic green hue, while the modern silhouette and elevated pleated details deliver that exact “refined-glam” vibe.

Below, I rounded up a range of wedding guest dresses that I think could suit different dress codes (all easy, elevated, and elegant). The edit from Nordstrom highlights many of the styles from the Retail Therapy episode, along with other favorites.

Pluto Adds ‘American Outlaws,’ a 2001 Western That Flopped at the Box Office

To kick off July, Pluto is adding more than 100 movies from every mainstream genre. Not all of those films were masterpieces; some, in fact, flopped at the box office and with critics.

American Outlaws is one of those movies. A 2001 Western starring Colin Farrell (as Jesse James), Scott Caan, Gabriel Macht and Ali Larter, the movie was a disaster by every conventional metric.

Audiences didn’t like it

Equipped with a reported budget of $35 million, American Outlaws grossed just over $13.6 million worldwide, an epic failure for Warner Bros. Discovery.

Currently on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 13% overall approval rating, and audience reviews are, for the most part, unkind.

Critics were even more harsh

American Outlaws has a score of 25 on Metacritic for “generally unfavorable” reviews from pundits. The Los Angeles Times gave the movie an 80 grade, but other critics were far less generous.

“For years there have been reports of the death of the Western. Now comes “American Outlaws,” proof that even the B Western is dead,” wrote Roger Ebert, who gave the movie one star. “It only wants to be a bad movie, and fails. Imagine the cast of “American Pie” given a camera, lots of money, costumes and horses, and told to act serious and pretend to be cowboys, and this is what you might get.”

Robert Koehler of Varietyalso panned the movie, saying it “sadly symbolizes the decline of the Western.”

What other Westerns are coming to Pluto this month?

In an email provided to Men’s Journal, Pluto listed all Westerns under the Classics/Westerns combined category.

The following list is every movie the service is adding for those two genres:

  • Blue Hawaii
  • The Disorderly Orderly
  • The Family Jewels
  • Hatari!
  • The Gambler (1974)
  • Real Life (1979)
  • Cinderfella
  • Daisy Miller
  • Last Of The Red Hot Lovers
  • Lifeguard
  • Murder On The Orient Express
  • Paradise, Hawaiian Style
  • Plaza Suite
  • The Great Escape
  • The Ballad Of Lefty Brown
  • Ulysses
  • The Producers
  • Park Row
  • Visit To A Small Planet
  • First Cow
  • Woman Walks Ahead
  • Tom Sawyer (1973)

2026 World Cup Odds: Mbappé, Messi Duel In Generational Golden Boot Race

Two things have undoubtedly been true this summer: The superstars are shining, and the Golden Boot odds seem to be changing every minute. After recording his second brace of the tournament in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Sweden, Kylian Mbappé is now up to 18 career World Cup goals, one shy of tying Lionel Messi for the most in World Cup history. Mbappé is now also up to 10 knockout stage goals, extending his record for the most in World Cup history. Meanwhile, after coming into Argentina’s final group game against Jordan in the 60th minute on Saturday, it took very little time for Messi to put one in the back of the net. Messi’s 80th minute free kick gave him his sixth goal of the tournament, setting the record for most consecutive matches with a goal in the World Cup (7). Messi is now up to 19 career World Cup goals, extending his record for the most by any man or woman in World Cup history. With Mbappé and Messi now tied on six goals apiece, the Golden Boot race is becoming one of the defining storylines of the tournament and is shaping up to be one of the most historic in World Cup history, as both generational stars continue chasing records. Let’s dive into the updated Golden Boot odds at FanDuel Sportsbook as of July 1. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. Golden Boot Winner 2026 Kylian Mbappé: +100 (bet $10 to win $20 total)Lionel Messi: +145 (bet $10 to win $24.50 total)Ousmane Dembélé: +1800 (bet $10 to win $190 total)Harry Kane: +2000 (bet $10 to win $210 total)Erling Haaland: +2200 (bet $10 to win $230 total)Vinícius Júnior: +3500 (bet $10 to win $360 total)Cristiano Ronaldo: +6000 (bet $10 to win $610 total)Mikel Oyarzabal: +7000 (bet $10 to win $710 total)Jonathan David: +7000 (bet $10 to win $710 total)Lamine Yamal: +7000 (bet $10 to win $710 total)Ismael Saibari: +7000 (bet $10 to win $710 total) Here’s what to know about this oddsboard: The Tally: Messi and Mbappé are tied for the most goals this tournament with six, Haaland has five, while Ousmane Dembélé and Vini Jr. are tied in third with four. With Mbappé scoring two goals in his first knockout stage match against Sweden, Messi will look to respond on Friday against Cape Verde. History Made: With his hat trick against Algeria, Messi tied Miroslav Klose for the most goals in men’s World Cup history with 16, while also setting the record as the oldest player (38) to record a hat trick, passing Cristiano Ronaldo. Then, in Argentina’s second game against Austria, Messi scored twice to put some space between himself and Klose. Finally, after coming on as a sub in the second half of Argentina’s last group stage match against Jordan, Messi added another, this time via a lovely free kick. Mbappé, with his offensive performance so far this tournament, now has 18 career World Cup goals, passing Klose as the second-most in men’s World Cup history. We are more than likely to see this record go back and forth the rest of the summer. Haaland Overshadowed: While overshadowed by another great Mbappé performance, Erling Haaland scored his fifth goal of the tournament on Tuesday, tapping one into the back of the net in the 86th minute of Norway’s 2-1 win over the Ivory Coast. Haaland’s game-winning goal has set up a marquee matchup with Brazil on Sunday in the Round of 16. Haaland now only sits one goal behind Messi and Mbappé in the Golden Boot standings.

Going back in time, Martínez played a pivotal role in Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup title, starting all seven matches and playing every single minute. He conceded only eight total goals and kept three clean sheets. Martínez also took home the Golden Glove at Copa América in 2024 as he had five clean sheets and only allowed one goal in the entire tournament. Simon was an influential piece in Spain’s 2024 European Championship run, allowing only three goals and putting together two clean sheets in six matches. This is Simón’s second career World Cup appearance after playing every minute of the team’s four matches during the 2022 tournament. Through three games, he has four saves.

Red Jeans Are Trending, These Are the Exact Shoes Colours That Look Chicest With Them

With each intrepid new fashion trend comes a whole host of new concerns and questions about how to wear it. Such is the case with the rise of red jeans. Traffic-stopping and blood-pumping, this bold shade has become the most dominant denim trend this summer after first appearing in Dario Vitale’s first and only collection for Versace last September.

Parting ways with your trusted blue denim is a tough ask, but it’s a compelling one given the plethora of tastemakers and leading designers all endorsing the movement, from Jennifer Lawrence strolling around New York in a corduroy pair to The Row including a version during its recent collection presentation during Paris Fashion Week.

Neutral shades can be considered like a sartorial safety net, meaning that they can almost assimilate with any accessory or ensemble they’re paired with. Red jeans offer slightly more of a challenge, courtesy of their inherently commanding tone. But where there’s a will, there’s a way, which is why we’ve taken it upon ourselves to unpack the leading shoe colours to wear with red jeans this summer.

On the runway, we’ve seen several eccentric combinations, but the most notable (and recent) would have to be the deep mustards and royal purples on display at Celine’s recent spring/summer 2027 men’s show staged in late June. However, if you were to look to the streets, you’d notice that it’s far more palatable colours that are reigning supreme this season.

Indeed, the shoe colour trends that are most often worn with red jeans aren’t too striking or vivid, but more muted and most likely to already be a shade you own. So, if you’re looking to invest in the trend and are currently going through the mental arithmetic of trying to style them in your head, consider this guide to be a shortcut to some incredibly chic outfits and uncover the best shoe colours to wear with red jeans this summer.

The 5 Best Shoe Colours to Wear With Red Jeans for Summer 2026

1. Clear

An image of @monikh wearing red jeans with clear shoes.

Style Notes: An unlikely choice, but aren’t the best styling choices the ones that defy expectations? Clear shoes are like the footwear equivalent of the sheer dressing trend—slightly sensual but ultimately innocuous. It’s a colour trend we’ve seen everywhere from Saint Laurent’s polarising transparent style to the PVC versions seen on Alexa Chung at the 2026 Serpentine Summer Party. Embrace the jelly sandal trend that’s currently sweeping the zeitgeist with a tactile pair of flip-flops or heeled mules that really fade into the background, allowing your pair of red jeans to really pull focus.

2. Chocolate Brown

Style Notes: To the untrained eye, red might seem like a colour that stands alone, failing to harmonise with any other tone it’s styled with. However, with its countless undertones, choosing the right pair of red jeans can lead to an array of shoe colour possibilities, including the deliciously rich chocolate brown. Sumptuous and deluxe, chocolate brown is a shade most commonly worn amid winter months, making the decision to wear it in summer subversive and exceptionally chic. Even better, the moody hue complements other deep shades, like aubergine and burgundy.

Shop the Look:

3. White

An image of @chloekathbutler wearing white shoes with red jeans

Style Notes: Many would argue whether white can ever really be considered a colour, but for all intents and purposes, we’re firmly convinced of its appropriateness when being paired with red jeans. The crisp and starchy shade makes red jeans feel slightly more approachable and palatable; however, it also possesses the ability to instantly make you look dated if you choose the wrong pair of shoes. Avoid anything too tied to the 2010s, like white court shoes, to ensure you don’t look like you’ve just stepped out of a Topshop campaign from the last decade.

Shop the Look:

4. Black

An image of @hannahallen00 wearing black shoes with red jeans.

Style Notes: On the other hand, black is a universally relevant shade, meaning that there’s not a colour imaginable that can’t work with it. It might seem obvious to include it in this edit, but one of the biggest styling challenges that must be overcome is avoiding wearing something because it seems too straightforward or plain. But given the fact that the most iconic style savants throughout history have all proven the perennial appeal of the colour black, from Gabrielle Chanel and her LBDs to Princess Diana and her revenge dress, it’s a shade that should never be taken for granted.

Shop the Look:

5. Butter Yellow

An image of @courtneygrow wearing butter yellow shoes with red jeans.

Style Notes: Those who keep an unwavering eye on the trend cycle will be well aware of the Mondrian colour trend, which refers to the rise in popularity of primary colours red, yellow and blue. It’s called this due to their prominence in the works of 20th-Century Dutch artist Piet Mondrian, but you don’t need a Master’s in Art History to know how powerful this colour combination is. It should come as no surprise to see butter yellow being worn with red jeans. To make things more intriguing, opt for shoes with more textured options, from mesh to faux pony hair.

I’ve Been Secretly Wearing This “Delectable” French Perfume—And the Compliments Keep Rolling In

One of the best parts about being a beauty editor is getting to test new beauty products ahead of launch. And one of my favourite parts is testing perfume launches before they come to market. Recently, I was invited to visit Grasse (AKA the perfume capital of the world) with one of my favourite French perfume houses, Matiere Premiere. You may know it from its viral Vanilla Powder scent, but what you might not know is that the founder, Aurélien Guichard, is the only perfumer in the world to grow and produce his own raw ingredients (including rose, tuberose and lavendin) in Grasse. Not only does this make its perfumes smell incredible, but the ingredients themselves are the standout notes that shine simply yet beautifully in each and every scent.

During the trip, I had a secret preview of the next scent to launch this summer. I came home with a lab sample, and since wearing it at home, I’ve not only fallen for it, but I’ve been inundated with compliments too. I’ve had to keep tight-lipped about exactly what it is when people have been asking after it, but now I can finally share the scent I’ve been wearing.

Matiere Premiere Black Currant Extrait de Parfum

The Scent

Blackcurrant isn’t a common note you find in many perfumes, but its unexpectedness makes this fruity oud perfume all the more interesting. On the first spritz, you get that sharp juiciness of glossy, plump blackcurrants bursting on your tongue. But it has a creaminess that reminds me of drinking a smooth, dark purple cocktail in the dim lighting of a luxurious bar.

Aurélien Guichard, perfumer and founder of Matiere Premiere, tells me that he chose blackcurrant as the standout note for this Harrods exclusive extrait, as it brings together both French and British cultures. In France, it’s a nod to the crème de cassis blackcurrant liqueur produced in Burgundy. Whilst in the UK, it brings to mind blackcurrant preserves and pastries with the jammy, dark purple fruits. It’s brimming with nostalgia, but is simultaneously fruity, luxurious and grown-up, combined with hypnotising oud and smooth leather.

(Image credit: @eleanorvousden for Who What Wear UK)

“For Harrods, I wanted to create a fragrance around blackcurrant because it carries something both deeply French and strongly connected to British culture. In the UK, cassis is a familiar flavour shared across generations. I was interested in revealing its darker, deeper and more contemporary facets,” he says. “This blackcurrant absolute produced in France gives an immediate savoury pleasure, but also has darker and almost ambery facets with remarkable persistence,” he says. “I wanted a black currant textured with oud—where the purple vibrancy of cassis gradually darkens into leather, woods and musks.”

Upon spritzing, it really does paint a purple profile. The mouthwatering juiciness of blackcurrant is complemented by the oud and leathery dry-down, which envelops you like the leather interior of a dark purple-lacquered Bugatti. I’m not usually one for oud perfumes, but this jammy combination has totally won me over. And since I’ve been wearing it, I’ve been inundated with compliments whenever I’ve worn it. Thanks to the potent extrait de parfum formula, it’s a real long-lasting power perfume that lingers and creates a halo of scent as you walk. What I love most is that it works just as well as a fruity high-summer perfume, but lends itself beautifully to the autumn season, too.

Elle Woods Is Back! 7 Iconic Outfits From Legally Blonde That Hold up 25 Years Later

Legally Blonde is 25 years old this year, but the outfits worn in the film are burned into the retinas of anyone who came of age in the noughties. With Y2K looking fashionable again, the film is being discovered by another generation partial to pink, and, ahead of the prequel, TV series Elle, coming to Prime this month, there’s never been a better time for a rewatch of the iconic movie.

Yes, there are moments that could be deemed homophobic, and the film uses some outdated language, but Legally Blonde’s story of a (pink) fish out of water is full of charm—and fashion. So much fashion. Following her ex-boyfriend Warner from L.A. to Harvard, Elle wears countless outfits that stick out like a sore thumb—like her Harvard submission video, which features her in a sequinned bikini, followed by a pink iridescent skirt suit for arrival on campus, so noticeable it causes one of the bookish students to yell, “Hey, check out Malibu Barbie!”

Elle, meanwhile, is one to add to the watch list. Set in 1995, the Prime series tells the story of Miss Woods at high school, moving from her happy place, L.A., to Seattle. A similar culture-shock storyline is set to come out in the clothing—which means, luckily for us, a full immersion in ’90s trends, from the trademark pink prep of Clueless (also from 1995, and another classic for fashion lovers) to the plaid shirts and band tees of grunge. Basically, expect to be mentally shopping whilst you watch.

To celebrate the landmark anniversary of Legally Blonde and the return of Elle to our screens, here are seven looks straight from the Y2K playbook to study the next time you hit play on this girly movie masterpiece. Along with our beloved Bel-Air princess (played by Reece Witherspoon), there are also unforgettable outfits from Jennifer Coolidge’s nail technician Paulette and Selma Blair’s waspy Vivian Kensington.

1. Pink Prints Charming

Style Notes: Elle’s commitment to her favourite colour is something to behold. (“Whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed.”) This look, which she’s wearing when we first meet her in the movie, finished with a pair of Barbie-style mules featuring a rhinestone heart, is the perfect introduction. The cloud print lifts the fuchsia hue and adds personality, whilst the classic noughties wrap-dress silhouette only makes it more enviable.

2. “Jeans and a Nice Top”

3E60Y3F Film Stills from Legally BlondeReese WiTherspoon2001

Style Notes: The classic after-dark dressing formula had its heyday in the early noughties (see also Paris Hilton and Jennifer Lopez for details). The take here leans more towards boho styling (also big in the era) thanks to the top’s floaty chiffon layers—one to consider when you’re next prowling pre-loved sites. We love this look even more because it’s what Elle wears to demonstrate the iconic “bend and snap” move.

3. Seeing Spots

Style Notes: When Elle decides she wants to go to law school, her guidance counsellor winces at her major in Fashion Merchandising and comments, “Harvard won’t be impressed that you aced History of Polka Dots.” Still, when she gets serious, out come the dots. 2026’s infatuation with the classic print is only the most recent—this noughties version reminds us of its office-appropriateness, especially when combined with a skirt suit and a bouncy blow-dry. The red lipstick is a masterstroke. We do not object.

4. Double Denim the Dolly Parton Way

Style Notes: Jennifer Coolidge’s White Lotus character, Tanya (otherwise known as Peppa Pig), has served the internet some delightful fashion moments in recent years, but the actor has actually been on the case for decades. For her turn as unlucky-in-love nail technician Paulette, her take on double denim changes the game. Worn when we first see her talking Elle through her love troubles, the waistcoat and skirt combined with her half-up, half-down hair and pastel-coloured eye shadow has a country-queen feel worthy of ’80s Dolly Parton.

Shop the Trend:

5. Mermaidcore Could Never

3E60Y4A Film Stills from Legally BlondeReese WiTherspoon2001

Style Notes: Iridescent shades and shiny textures are a siren song for some of us. Elle tries on this rich blue bedazzled dress as a potential outfit for her dinner with Warner, where she expects a proposal. It’s also a scene where we realise our protagonist is a smart cookie, not the “dumb blonde” that the sales assistant assumes. Whilst Elle doesn’t wear it to dinner in the end, the sequins and spaghetti straps very much make the cut 25 years later, with mermaidcore an aesthetic to note right now. Accessorise with seashells for the full look.

Shop the Trend:

6. Work It Out

3E60Y48 Film Stills from Legally BlondeReese WiTherspoon2001

Style Notes: What we wear to the gym has never been more scrutinised. Elle’s workout ‘fit is perfect for the current cool-girl take on exercise gear: track shorts and a Nike sports bra in easy brights, worn for the classic movie montage when she starts to get into her studying stride. Add a criminal science textbook and serious news on the TV to bring smarts to the treadmill.

Shop the Trend:

7. Mean-Girl Prep

Style Notes: Selma Blair perfectly plays straight-laced sorority girl Vivian Kensington (aka Elle’s arch-nemesis and Warner’s fiancé—for most of the film). Preppy is her happy place. This is clear from our first encounter, when Elle describes her as a “horrible preppy girl”. With the look now firmly back in fashion’s favour, her velvet headband, sweater vest and pearls—sitting carefully under her starched collar—are styling details to admire.

I Just Got Back From The Hamptons—This Is How Travelling Inspires My Style

People always ask me where I find inspiration, and honestly, I never travel looking for it. I travel because I love seeing new places, getting lost in shops, markets and bookstores, and because I’m incredibly curious. The inspiration usually comes later. I’ve also realised that travelling doesn’t really change my taste; I’ve always liked the same things, and it just keeps growing with everywhere I visit. The Hamptons was one of those places.

I wasn’t obsessed with the big houses or the beaches. Rather, it was everything around them. The faded sweatshirts in tiny local shops, old American cookbooks with covers I wanted to frame, the hat stands at the markets, monograms on absolutely everything, farm stands that looked like film sets, vintage Porsches in the happiest colours, the way every porch seemed to have the perfect chairs. Those are the things my brain keeps.

Months later, I’ll be choosing a fabric, designing a belt or getting dressed, and I’ll realise that something I saw there has quietly found its way back. Not because I’m trying to re-create it, but because it now lives with all the other references I’ve collected over the years. I think that’s how taste grows; not by changing who you are, but by adding little layers to what already exists.
