Browns Make Shedeur Sanders Decision Following Starting QB Announcement

The Cleveland Browns will be starting a new quarterback this Sunday–but it’s not going to be Shedeur Sanders.

Cleveland announced Wednesday morning that Dillon Gabriel, the team’s 2025 third-round draft pick, will make his first career start in Week 5, replacing veteran Joe Flacco. The left-handed rookie, who has appeared in two of Cleveland’s first four games in a reserve role, will start against the Minnesota Vikings in London Sunday.

“We’ve named Dillon Gabriel the starting quarterback,” the Browns said succinctly on X/Twitter earlier.

While Gabriel is getting ready to be QB1 in Cleveland, Shedeur Sanders, the Browns’ other first-year signal caller, is still waiting his turn. Sanders has been the team’s third-stringer all season, and according to the latest reports, he will remain in that role for the time being.

Sanders still No. 3

ESPN insider Adam Schefter confirmed that the Browns intend to make Flacco the team’s backup this weekend with Sanders behind him.

“Joe Flacco will serve as Dillon Gabriel’s backup and Shedeur Sanders will remain Cleveland’s third-string QB,” Schefter tweeted.

According to NFL rules, the third-string quarterback must be inactive on game day and is only available in an emergency situation. If both Gabriel and Flacco go down with injuries, Sanders can play. Otherwise, he’ll remain on the sideline.

All according to plan?

It wouldn’t shock us if Sanders does see the field at some point this year, but the Browns aren’t going to rush the fifth-round rookie.

Last month, NFL insider Dianna Russini at The Athletic wrote that Cleveland is focused on developing Sanders, who likely wouldn’t see game action this season “unless things get really weird.”

“It was GM Andrew Berry’s call, rooted in his belief that Cleveland’s coaching staff could bring out the best in Sanders and help him grow into an NFL quarterback,” Russini said. “It will be a process, and the Browns want to keep developing him.”

Sanders feels he’s ‘ready’

While the former University of Colorado star and son of NFL legend Deion Sanders has stuck with the Browns’ plan so far, he also admitted in a recent ESPN interview that he feels “ready to play right now.”

“I know if you see the quarterback play in the league right now, I know I’m capable of doing better than that,” Sanders said. 

He’s going to have to wait at least a little longer to have a chance to prove it.

Jimmy Kimmel Details Exactly What Happened the Day of His Suspension

Jimmy Kimmel stopped by The Late Show on Tuesday night, where he described to host Stephen Colbert how he discovered ABC was suspending his own talk show.

Kimmel Opened Up About the ‘Very Strange’ Experience

Calling his one-week suspension an “emotional rollercoaster,” Kimmel explained for the first time the details of how the “very strange” experience came to be. “It was about 3:00 [in the afternoon]. We tape our show at 4:30. I’m in my office, typing away as I usually do. I get a phone call, it’s ABC. They say they want to talk to me. This is unusual,” Kimmel told Colbert. “As far as I knew, they didn’t even know I was doing a show previous to this, so I have like five people who work in my office with me, so the only private place to go is the bathroom.

“So I go into the bathroom,” Kimmel continued. “I’m on the phone with the ABC executives and they say, ‘Listen, we wanna take the temperature down. We’re concerned about what you’re gonna say tonight and we decided that the best route is to take the show off the air tonight.” At this, Colbert’s audience booed. 

“That’s what I said. I started booing,” Kimmel laughed. “I said I don’t think that’s a good idea, and they said, ‘Well, we think it’s a good idea.’ And then there was a vote and I lost the vote. So I put my pants back on and I walked out to my office and I called in some of the executive producers, and there were about nine people in there, and I said, ‘They’re pulling the show off the air.’”

Kimmel Thought ‘I’m Never Coming Back’

When the meeting ended, Kimmel “thought that it’s over. I was like, I’m never coming back on the air.” The situation was made trickier due to the fact that the audience for that evening’s show had already been seated, and several of the guests had begun their segments. Musician Howard Jones had already pre-recorded his performance earlier in the afternoon. Meanwhile, chef Christian Petroni, “who was making meatballs and polenta that night,” had his segment unceremoniously axed. “He’d been cooking all day,” Kimmel lamented.

The comedian admitted that the situation left him “shaken,” joking that his suspension “was like a DUI in L.A., three days in jail where I couldn’t say anything. I just had to sit quiet and make a lot of phone calls and take a lot of phone calls. You were very kind to call me,” he told Colbert. “I did hear from literally everyone I have ever met.”

Kimmel Blasted the President

When Colbert asked him if he ever imagined that “the President of the United States would be celebrating your unemployment,” Kimmel responded: “I mean, that son of a b–ch. No, I never imagined that we’d ever have a president like this, and I hope we don’t ever have another president like this again. I never even imagined there would ever be a situation in which the president of our country was celebrating hundreds of Americans losing their jobs. But somebody who took pleasure in that, that to me is the absolute opposite of what a leader of this country is supposed to be.”

Maggie Baugh Posted Instagram Video Jamming With Keith Urban

Maggie Baugh is an emerging country singer and musician who has joined Keith Urban on stage during his recent tour.

In one video posted to her Instagram page, Baugh and Urban jammed on a violin and guitar on stage. She’s getting attention for posting another video showing them singing together on stage because Urban changed a lyric to sing, “When they try to get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.” Urban is going through a highly public divorce from Nicole Kidman; he wrote the song, “The Fighter,” about Kidman, according to TMZ.

Baugh’s biography mentions Urban’s tour. “Most recently, Baugh caught the attention of Keith Urban who asked her to join him on tour as his utility player,” her website bio says.

Maggie Baugh Once Joked That Her Boyfriend Was ‘Mic’

Ever since she was a teen, Baugh, now 25, has been exercising her love of music. “Meet my #boyfriend MIC I love being in the studio,” Baugh wrote on X. She wrote that post when her career was just getting started, while still a teen.

Baugh’s X page hasn’t been updated for some time, and the most recent posts focus on her music, although there are a few candid shots on the page.

“From Classical to Country Music, Maggie Baugh has caught the music industry’s attention for her independent success,” her website bio says.

Baugh broke out, in part, as a TikTok star.

Maggie Baugh Has Posted Several Videos With Keith Urban on Her Instagram Page

On Instagram, Baugh’s page focuses on her music, and, most recently, she has posted several videos showing her singing on stage with Urban, including the lyric-change video, which she captioned, “Did he just say that” with an eye emoji.

She posted another video showing them performing together.

“I think he really loves having you on stage with him, Maggie. Keith recognizes talent when he sees and hears it. Knowing all the instruments you can play and contribute to the music. Where else is he going to find your kind of talent and voice, too. Go Maggie!👏” a fan wrote on her comment thread.

Her X page, though, is Keith Urban-free.

Baugh posted a generic meme for Valentine’s Day in 2023. In 2002, she wrote, ‘That moment @JohnCena follows you on Twitter Hi… I’m your biggest fan … okay bye !”

Some posts focus on her song “I met you” about falling in love.
