Cole Haan’s ‘Absolutely Amazing’ Waterproof Boots Are Over 50% Off for Cyber Monday

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

Cyber Monday is one of the best times to score big deals on coveted boots online, but you need to get what you want fast because these sales usually wrap up on or around Dec. 2. Blundstone and Danner, for example, are in the middle of massive sales, but the timer is ticking for both brands. Cole Haan is another one with eye-popping discounts during its Cyber Monday sale, and one of the best is on this water-resistant leather lace-up boot that’s over half off while the sale is live.

Cole Haan’s American Classics Plain Toe Waterproof Boots are on sale for $102, a 51% discount from their normal price of $210. The boots have an initial 42% markdown, and you can unlock the full discount by entering promo code GIVING at checkout. This is the best price we’ve ever seen for this boot, even better than the fall sale in September, but it all goes away at the end of the day on Dec. 2, so don’t wait.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Colorways Available: 3, all on sale
  • Sizes Available: 7-13, 7-13 Wide
  • Upper: Leather
  • Waterproof: Yes; seam-sealed
  • Sole: EVA
  • Best For: Rainy and snowy season commutes

The American Classics Plain Toe Waterproof boot is built with a leather upper (or suede for the Golden Honey colorway), and it’s attached to the sole using a storm bead welt, a construction technique that offers exceptional durability and keeps moisture from seeping into the boot. The seams on the upper are also sealed, which fully blocks water from entering and makes this boot waterproof, rather than just water-resistant—seams are the weak point for water entry on just about any shoe or garment.

That upper is paired with a cushioned midsole and a lugged EVA outsole, so you’ll get good grip, even in wet weather. A textile lining around the collar and inside the boot creates a comfy fit, and a pull tab on the heel helps you get this boot off and on easily.

This Ultrarunner Is Attempting 7 Ironmans in 21 Days. Here’s Why He Won’t Quit

Most people don’t have the grit, stubbornness, or borderline-questionable decision-making it takes to complete the world’s toughest endurance challenges. Some are perfectly content on the couch, snacks in hand, watching other people suffer through HYROX races and Survivor-level gauntlets while we whisper, “Couldn’t be me.” But then there are the outliers, the ones who treat exhaustion like a hobby and seem to sweat out every ounce of water they drank that day. The people who push their bodies so hard you’d think they’re training to outrun a zombie apocalypse.

One of those people is TV personality and ultrarunner Spencer Matthews. This year, the 37-year-old decided to take on a challenge so outrageous it makes a marathon look like a warm-up jog—seven Ironmans on seven continents in just 21 days. Only one other person has ever completed the feat, and it took them nearly four years.

Matthews calls it Project Se7en. The journey takes him around the globe, completing back-to-back Ironmans. Each day includes a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a marathon. His stops include London, Arizona, Cape Town, Perth, Dubai, Rio, and Antarctica. While the physical feat alone has captured national attention, Matthews is also using the spotlight to raise awareness for James’ Place. The charity provides free, life-saving support to men struggling with suicidal thoughts.

A few weeks ago, Men’s Journal caught up with Matthews between his second Ironman in Arizona and his third in Cape Town, just hours before he was set to take on the next brutal leg of his journey. Soon, he’ll tackle Antarctica, which he expects will be the toughest challenge yet.

Fatigue and Recovery in Motion

When most people picture someone finishing an Ironman, they imagine a giant cheeseburger in one hand, a restorative ice bath, maybe a sauna session, and a week of doing absolutely nothing. Matthews’ reality looks nothing like that. He hops off the course, boards a plane, and flies straight to the next continent, with barely a moment to catch his breath, let alone properly recover.

“In an ideal world, you’d come out of the Ironman, you drink two, three liters of cold water with loads of electrolytes, have physio, get into bed, sleep all night, you know, but unfortunately that just hasn’t been our experience so far,” he said when I spoke to him the day after his second Ironman.

“We are also strangely bouncing back quite well at the moment,” he said. “I don’t mean to jinx it, but probably slept for four hours last night, had a big late dinner, and [I’m] absolutely physically depleted, exhausted, and could barely eat the food because it’s just not what you really feel like doing.”

Aside from nutrition, which he’s monitoring closely while burning around 10,000 calories per race, sleep has been crucial. Matthews would love to crash in his own bed or on a plush hotel mattress, but the physical toll of the races, combined with adrenaline and excitement, makes getting quality rest a challenge. That leaves just a few days, or more like two, when hopping across time zones, to recover from the beating his body takes.

“It goes without saying, obviously, if we don’t sleep on the plane, then that’s just, you know, raw dogging another [race],” he says. “I will fall asleep almost immediately, I’m sure, on the plane, but like it takes one really bad sleep or, you know, one frustrating plane journey to throw a bit of a spanner in the works.”

Related: I Asked UTMB Athletes How They Prepare for the World’s Toughest Races—Here’s Their Advice

The Mental Marathon

Aside from the physical toll, the mental challenge of Project Se7en is just as intense, especially since Matthews can’t listen to music during races that can last 24 hours or more. Out of everything, this is one of the aspects he admits is toughest to handle.

“Music is, in my opinion, single-handedly the best thing about like working out and pushing yourself and, you know, that’s what really allows you to kind of go into some space that’s awesome and enjoyable,” he admits. “When you remove that, it is pretty grim.”

Without the music to distract or motivate him, Matthews relies entirely on mental grit to keep moving. Every stroke, pedal, and step becomes a battle not just of the body, but of the mind. He has to consciously push through the creeping doubt that naturally builds over hours of relentless effort.

“I think an awful lot of this challenge revolves around your belief that you can do it,” he says. “It’s pretty easy to get crushed mentally by what we’re doing. It happened yesterday, temporarily. I had to actively change my outlook and mindset during the run, go into my head, and sort it out because it was slow, awful, and painful.”

The Mission Behind the Madness

But when he is deep in the pain cave, Matthews reminds himself why he is out there. It is not only to prove he can endure something this extreme. It is to draw attention to James’ Place, and to the men who rely on it. That purpose cuts through the suffering and puts his own discomfort into perspective.

“I really enjoy, for my own personal development, pushing myself. But I find that if you attach a phenomenal cause to the mission, it really helps the ability to achieve the mission,” he says. “Like when Chris and I were running last night, and as I’ve described many times now, in a fair amount of pain, I was certainly thinking that the men who are going through hell, who are considering taking their own life, are probably in significantly worse places than we are right now. And this is very much temporary. It’ll be over in a few hours.”

25-Year-Old Rapper Commits To Play Division I College Football

It’s often said that musicians want to be athletes, and athletes want to be musicians, but one rapper is trying his hand at a football career. The platinum-selling artist will suit up on the field for one of the country’s most prestigious and storied athletic programs, and he’ll be playing against some of the best competition in college football – all at the age of 25.

On Monday, rapper Toosii announced that he would be committing to play football for the Syracuse Orange, beginning his college football career when most players are ending their own.

“For every kid who ever had a dream, make it reality,” Toosii, whose real name is Nau’jour Grainger, said in a post on social media.

Grainger Explains Why He Chose Syracuse

“God’s will is the way and no one can stop it not even the devil. I wanna thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ for even giving me the strength to chase what I believed when so many people told me I couldn’t.”

Grainger noted that he was born in Syracuse and moved with his family to North Carolina at the age of 12. “When Coach Fran [Brown] called, I knew it was a sign from God,” Grainger said.

“So with that being said, Cuse I’m coming home.”

Grainger announced over the summer that he would pursue football seriously, even taking a break from his music career to train. He has high school experience playing for Rolesville High in North Carolina, where he was a wide receiver and kick returner.

Grainger stands at 5’8″ and weighs 165 pounds, and it’s unclear which position he’ll play next season for Syracuse.

Grainger’s Career Off The Field

As Toosii, Grainger is likely best known for “Favorite Song,” released in 2023. The song was featured prominently in TikTok videos on social media, peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned him double platinum status in sales.

His second album, “Nau’jour,” was released in 2023. It peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard charts and is currently certified as gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The Orange finished a 3-9 2025 campaign on Saturday with a 34-12 loss to Boston College. Last season, Brown led the team to a 10-3 record and a win in the Holiday Bowl – all in his first season as head coach.

Star Shares Disappointing Update on Troubled Marvel Film: ‘It Just Unraveled’

It’s been six-and-a-half years since Marvel announced a rebooted version of the vampire-slaying hero Blade would be joining the MCU, played by Mahershala Ali. However, the film has been stuck in development hell. Two different directors came and went and the planned release dates kept getting pushed back. The film is currently without a director or a release date.

Mia Goth, one of the stars of the supposedly upcoming film, suggested in a recent interview that Blade fans shouldn’t get their hopes up.

Goth Throws Cold Water on the Film Timeline

Speaking to the Happy Sad Confused Podcast with Josh Horowitz in an episode released on December 1, 2025, the Frankenstein and MaXXXine actress spoke about the Blade movie’s delayed state of affairs.

“I don’t know what’s going on with that. I think that they want to make it, and it’s such an important film for them that they’re taking their time with it,” Goth said, suggesting that as far as she knows, Marvel Studios hasn’t officially given up on the film. “I really don’t have any information. I don’t know why it’s taken the time that it has. We will see.”

Goth recounted how she’d flown to Atlanta for some early work on the film before it stalled, but things had since “unraveled.”

“We did a chemistry test between Mahershala and I. We did a costume fitting and a wig fitting, and I was very excited in the direction that it was going. It was very cool. And Mahershala had such an interesting take on it. He was great,” Goth said. “And then it just unraveled from there, unfortunately.”

The MCU’s Blade Movie Was Originally Supposed to Come Out in 2023

Wesley Snipes starred in three movies about Blade, a Marvel comics character, in the ’90s and early ’00s — before the start of the MCU and the modern superhero blockbuster boom. In 2019, Marvel announced plans to reboot the character at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019, with Ali starring in the title role. Ali later made a voice-only cameo as Blade in one of the post-credits sequences of 2021’s Eternals

The original release date was going to be November 3, 2023. Then it was pushed to September 6, 2024, February 14, 2025, and most recently November 7, 2025. It’s currently undated. Originally, Bassam Tariq was set to direct, but in 2022 he left due to creative differences. Yann Demange stepped in as director but there were further delays, and his exit was made public in the summer of last year.

While Blade has technically appeared in the MCU, as Snipes made a surprise cameo reprising his role in Deadpool & Wolverine, Ali’s Blade has yet to slay a vampire, and it’s growing increasingly unclear if he ever will. Currently, there are only three upcoming MCU movies officially on the release calendar. Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens on July 31, 2026. Avengers: Doomsday opens on December 18, 2026, and then Avengers: Secret Wars follows that up on December 17, 2027.

Arc’teryx’s ‘Super Light’ Down Jacket Is a Rare 30% Off for Cyber Monday

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

Gearheads know that Arc’teryx doesn’t usually host big sales, but the brand posted some awesome deals for Black Friday, and they’re still live until the end of Cyber Monday. This includes discounts of up to 30% off top jackets, like the Beta AR, the Gamma MX, and the cozy Ralle Down Parka, among others. If there’s one jacket we’d recommend looking at, it’s the super warm, highly rated insulated Thorium down jacket, which is nearly $150 off and perfect for winter.

The Arc’teryx Thorium Jacket is on sale for as low as $315, up to a 30% discount from its normal price of $450. It’s available at that price in one colorway, Tatsu, which is a sort of olive green color, and an additional colorway, Black, is on sale for $360 (20% off). This is the last call for this sale, so if you want to grab a few pieces, make sure to do it before 11:59 p.m. tonight.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Colorways Available: Tatsu ($315), Black ($360)
  • Sizes Available: S-2XL
  • Body: 100% nylon
  • Lining: 100% nylon
  • Insulation: Polyester and 750 fill-power grey goose down
  • Best For: Cold-weather hikes, everyday winter wear

The Thorium features both goose down and synthetic polyester insulation for best-of-both-worlds performance. The main body of the jacket is filled with 750-fill-power goose down, and it’s paired with synthetic fill in critical high-moisture areas (down loses its heat-trapping power when damp). That means you get reliable warmth, even if you sweat or get doused with wet snow. The exterior of the jacket is made from durable, lightweight 30-denier nylon ripstop, and it’s coated with a DWR finish to repel moisture and light precipitation (though you’ll need a waterproof shell if you’re facing heavier rain or snow).

Inside, its 20-denier nylon lining creates a smooth texture that makes it easy to pull on and off. A zippered chest pocket, dual zippered hand pockets, and interior dump pockets offer plenty of storage (a key highlight among reviewers), and although there’s no hood, the Thorium’s high insulated collar and cinchable hem provide welcome protection from icy winds.

What Shoppers Are Saying

Shoppers have been really impressed with the Thorium. The overall consensus among reviewers? It makes a great everyday jacket for cold weather, and its layer-friendly design works well with a shell for more adventurous pursuits.

Unlike typical puffer jackets, the Thorium is notably streamlined: Shoppers love its “super light” build and say it provides “warmth without bulk.” That svelte silhouette makes it easily adaptable. You can wear it on its own for daily use, and shoppers say it also “fits perfectly” under a waterproof shell. Overall, it’s “an ideal midweight insulating layer,” one shopper remarked.

If you know Arc’teryx, you know the brand’s apparel always sells out fast when it goes on sale, so act fast: Grab your Thorium jacket for 30% off today before the sale ends.

‘Most Extreme Cold on Earth’ Will Hit U.S. Region Before Christmas

Weather around the midwest has caused thousands of flight delays and travel issues over the Thanksgiving holiday, disrupting travel and making life difficult for millions of Americans in the region.

Some states were hit with over a foot of snow over the weekend, and the National Weather Service says that more is on the way. Some areas are set to receive an additional three to five inches of snow, making travel even more difficult across both Monday and Tuesday.

More inclement weather is set to come to the Northeastern part of the country, and some meteorologists believe it could bring severe, bitter cold along with it.

Snow Expected Before Polar Vortex

According to AccuWeather’s Brandon Buckingham, “the rain vs. snow line is expected to come close to the Interstate 95 corridor between Monday night and Tuesday.”

“A slight shift in the storm track farther offshore could help to pull in cold enough air for snow to occur in places like Philadelphia, New York City and Boston.”

Snowfall of six inches or more is possible in certain areas, but the snow could be the least of the issues facing those in the region.

MIT climatologist Judah Cohen believes that severe cold is coming to the Northeast, telling USA TODAY that the cold weather and snow this week will be an “appetizer,” and that the “main course will be in mid-December.”

Based on findings from his team’s weather modeling computer, Cohen says the extent of cold weather will stretch from the plains of Canada to the United States’ East Coast in the third week of the month.

Cold Air and Bitter Temperatures

The cold air will come from a rapidly-moving polar vortex that will shift lower than expected. Cohen isn’t sure what the exact temperatures will be in a matter of weeks, but he believes they’ll be lower than what those in the Midwest are currently experiencing.

For reference, temperatures in the Midwest are between the 10s and 20s this week, and some areas have experienced temperatures at or below 0.

New York City hasn’t experienced a white Christmas since 2009, when two inches of snow fell on the ground in the center of Manhattan. The phenomenon has been relatively rare in the Big Apple, but the bitter cold and expected snowy conditions could make it more possible than normal this time around.

Sydney Sweeney’s Star-Studded Box Office Flop Is Finally Coming to Netflix

It’s rare for a film boasting a cast this impressive to fly under the radar, but that’s exactly what happened to Sydney Sweeney’s latest venture into the thriller genre. Despite one of the most impressive A-list casts in recent memory, which also includes Ana de Armas, Jude Law and Vanessa Kirby, the Ron Howard-directed survival drama had a brutal box-office showing during its limited theatrical run. Now, after one of the most disappointing performances, the star-studded flop will seek redemption on its new streaming home after receiving an official Netflix premiere date.

Inside ‘Eden’: The Survival Thriller That Couldn’t Survive the Box Office

Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Sydney Sweeney and Ron Howard at the Variety TIFF Studio during the Toronto International Film Festival.

Michelle Quance/Variety via Getty Images

Even with an impressive cast and intriguing storyline, Eden proved to be one of the biggest box office flops of the year. The movie is based on a wild true story from the 1930s, which features a group of Europeans on the remote island of Floreana in the Galapagos. They’re forced to run for their lives, but the greatest danger proves not to be the deadly wildlife, but instead each other.

Law plays Dr. Friedrich Ritter, who’s joined by his wife Dore (Vanessa Kirby), and the two begin to set up shop and create a new life. Their plans get turned upside-down when Heinz and Margret Wittmer arrive, played by Daniel Bruhl and Sydney Sweeney. Shortly after is the arrival of de Armas, who, along with her two partners, plans to build a high-end hotel.

Although the film received solid reviews from fans, critics weren’t on board with the final result. Eden earned a 73 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes from fans, but only a 57 percent critics’ score. This earned the movie a “rotten” label shortly after its August 2025 theatrical release.

Eden had a budget of roughly $55 million, which dropped to $35 million following Australian incentives. However, even with the interesting concept, big names and plenty of potential, it pulled in just over $2.8 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.

When Will Sydney Sweeney’s New Movie Arrive on Netflix?

Following the box-office disappointment, Eden will now leap to Netflix and arrive just in time for Christmas. As What’s on Netflix reported, the movie will make its streaming debut on Dec. 23, 2025, giving it a chance to pull in viewers during the wind-down times of days like Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Here’s a look at part of the cast of Eden:

  • Jude Law: Friedrich Ritter
  • Vanessa Kirby: Dore Strauch
  • Sydney Sweeney: Margret Wittmer
  • Daniel Bruhl: Heinz Wittmer
  • Ana de Armas: Baroness
  • Jonathan Tittel: Harry Wittmer
  • Felix Kammerer: Rudolph Lorenz
  • Toby Wallace: Robert Phillipson

Whether it can capture the interest of fans on Netflix will be a big question mark. However, after barely making a dent at the box office, Eden faces a significant uphill climb to drive interest. On a positive note, the solid reviews from viewers could be enough for those seeking feedback on the streaming release.

Regardless, it’s hard to argue that there’s a better-timed move to Netflix for its streaming debut than just before the holidays.
