Four brothers who were each diagnosed with prostate cancer within six months of one another have told the BBC that the experience brought them closer together.

Steve Hastings, the eldest brother of the family, received his diagnosis at age 68. His younger brothers Jim, Andy, and Tim were each diagnosed after they all asked for a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) following Steve’s experience.

The youngest brother, Tim, was the first to be diagnosed back in November 2023, and was told he’s recovered from the disease in 2025. Steve finished treatment on Christmas Eve in 2024 before he was told he was in the clear in January 2025, and Andy was diagnosed in February 2024.

The Hastings brothers agree having prostate cancer “brought us closer together”

The four brothers told the BBC that experiencing prostate cancer at the same time has actually strengthened their bond and “brought us closer together.”

“Initially you’re worried until you know what the severity is, but we just took everything in our stride,” Steve said. We said it will be what it will be and when we get the results we’ll know what we’re faced with.”

He added: “We got the pathway in front of us with the oncologist and urologist and we just went from there. We’ve just got through it day by day.”

Ultimately, Steve said he is “happy” and heaped praise on the medical team at Royal Preston Hospital. “I feel quite good about it, I’m still here breathing, I’m happy and if anything it’s brought us closer,” he added.

His brother Andy echoed that sentiment and said that experiencing cancer has changed how he sees the world around him. “You look at life differently,” Andy told the outlet. “You think ‘let’s go out there and live it’ instead of just plodding along.”

The prostate-specific antigen test registers PSA in the blood

According to Cancer.gov, the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test registers the amount of PSA in the blood. The website also notes that both prostate cancer and other benign conditions can contribute to raised levels of PSA. a

The test used to be part of routine care, but in 2008 medical experts began recommending that people who are interested in the test first “discuss the risks and benefits with their doctors before making a decision.” Men who are at higher risk of prostate cancer are encouraged to get the test beginning between ages 40 and 45.

The biggest pro of PSA test is that it can detect cancer early, but one of its potential flaws is that some cancers the test can detect “grow so slowly that they would never cause symptoms or become life threatening. However, treating them can cause harms,” the website explains, which in turn exposes men to treatment they may never have had to receive.

Doctors refer to this as overtreatment, and Cancer.gov notes that this comes with its own risks — including urinary, bowel, and sexual side effects. On top of that, early detection of prostate cancer may not lead to being cured of the disease.

Snoop Dogg has lost his 10-month old granddaughter, Codi Dreaux, the daughter, Cori Broadus.

How did the child die? What was Codi’s cause of death? The official cause of death was not announced. However, the child had a series of public health challenges that shed light on what happened.

Snoop Dogg appeared to address the tragedy by sharing a photo on Instagram that shows him with his kids, including Cori. He included heart and prayer emojis in the caption. The rapper’s son, Cordell, shared the same photo in his Instagram story and wrote, “Lil sis, we got you forever.”

Cori Broadus confirmed that her daughter had died in a post to her Instagram story, which showed her holding the baby. “Monday, I lost the love of my life. My Codi,” she added.

Cori announced previously that her child was born premature, at 25 weeks. “The princess arrived at 6 months 🥹👶🏽🎀,” she wrote. “I’ve cried and cried, I’ve compared and compared, blaming myself because I wasn’t able to give her all that she needed. But no matter what God always shows me that He got me! Baby girl came at 25 weeks today and she’s the best!! Thank You God for getting me this far 🙏”

According to USA Today, Broadus “was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome, which stands for Hemolysis Elevated Liver enzymes and Low Platelets.”

ELLP (Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes and Low Platelets) syndrome “is a life-threatening pregnancy complication usually considered to be a variant of preeclampsia. Both conditions usually occur during the later stages of pregnancy, or soon after childbirth,” according to Preeclampsia.org.

HELLP syndrome “can be difficult to diagnose, because all of the typical signs of preeclampsia may not be apparent, such as high blood pressure and protein in the urine,” the site reports. “Its symptoms are sometimes mistaken for gastritis, flu, acute hepatitis, acute fatty liver disease, gall bladder disease, or other conditions. While some of these conditions may also be present, there is no evidence they are related.”

The site noted, “Early diagnosis is critical because serious illness and even death can occur in about 25% of cases. As a result, patient awareness of HELLP syndrome, and how it relates to preeclampsia, is helpful to ensure the best medical care for mother and baby.”

That picture came on January 6, when Cori wrote, “She’s home. 🤍 Thank you for every prayer, every message, every ounce of love. God heard them all. 🕊️✨” The post included a video that showed her nuzzling the child.

People filled Cori’s Instagram page with prayers and well-wishes. “No words , 😢 my deepest condolences to you and your family , praying for you all at this very sad time in your lives 😢,” wrote one person.

Fighter Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller had an embarrassing moment during the January 31 undercard with Kingsley Ibeh in New York, when he lost his hair.

Miller’s toupee flew off his head during the fight, and the moment was captured in a viral video. He then threw the hairpiece into the crowd, according to another video that went viral on X.

“I’ve never see this before but the fighter is getting the hair knocked off his head,” the announcer said in the video, which showed Ibeh pummeling Miller and then Miller’s toupee standing straight up after being knocked partially off his scalp.

According to ESPN, the heavyweight Miller had promised he would knock out Ibeh, but instead Ibeh knocked off his hair. Still, Miller went on to deliver a split decision, so the night ended on a better note, ESPN reported.

“Wow. That is going to make the rounds on social media,” the announcer said, and it did.

The video shows that Miller kept fighting with his hairiece ajar. “It’s like a cartoon,” the announcer joked, as Miller kept taking punches and his toupee bobbed on his head.

“Oh, my goodness gracious,” the announcer continued. Eventually, Miller ripped the dangling toupee completely off his scalp. He didn’t seem too upset about it, though. He put both hands in the hair and had a big smile on his face, although you could still see the ring on his head from where the toupee used to be.

“Noooo Jarrell Miller just got the hair piece knocked off his head,” a page wrote, sharing the video on X, where it racked up almost half a million views.

Miller explained after the fight that the toupee was new, and he got it only two days before the fight because he accidentally washed his hair with “ammonia bleach” instead of shampoo, ESPN reported.

“I’m a comedian,” Miller said during the postfight interview, according to ESPN. “You have to make fun of yourself.”

One person shared a meme and wrote, “Hair glue companies blowing up his phone right now.” Other fans were confused why Miller had opted for the toupee in the first place. “I don’t know why a man would wear a wig, you can just be bald and it’s not bad at all,” that person wrote.

“No recovery from this. Poor guy,” wrote a fan. “Can’t say I’ve ever seen that before,” another fan mused.

Other people admired how Miller handled the moment. “His insecurity has been erased. That’s sharp thinking right there,” a person wrote on X. “Most people would have been drowned in shame, but he quickly shook it off and wore his baldness like a crown. For me, he’s the ultimate winner of the fight as not many eventually defeat their insecurities in life.”

The final stretch for the 2025-26 football season is wrapping up, and we now know that Super Bowl LX will feature the Seattle Seahawks taking on the New England Patriots.

NFL or College Football Games Today: Is Anything on the Schedule for Sunday, Feb. 1?

No, Super Bowl 2026 is not on TV today, Sunday, Feb. 1. Some viewers thought it would be, since the NFC and AFC championship games were last weekend, but it’s tradition for the NFL to place two weeks between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl.

So, football viewers will be watching Super Bowl 60 on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Eastern on NBC. The game will see the Seattle Seahawks up against the New England Patriots in a rematch of sorts of Super Bowl XLIX.

Another Football Game on the Way

Even though there’s no football on TV today, the Pro Bowl is set for Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 8 p.m. Eastern on ESPN. As with recent events, the Pro Bowl game is now a flag football event to keep players safe.

The event will feature a non-contact seven-on-seven flag football game for the fourth consecutive year and take place inside a 4,000-seat ballroom in San Francisco, the same one that also hosts the Super Bowl Experience fan fest. Scott Van Pelt will handle play-by-play duties for the broadcast on ESPN, with analysts Jason Kelce and Dan Orlovsky. The sideline reporters for the event are Laura Rutledge and Michelle Beisner-Buck.

It’s a special time for Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco, who was named as an AFC quarterback in this year’s Pro Bowl Games, the team announced Friday, Jan. 30.  This year marks the first time in Flacco’s 18 years in the NFL that he’s been named a Pro Bowler.

Also, a special focus of this year’s Pro Bowl festivities will be highlighting the debut of flag football for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

The 2026 Pro Bowl teams will be coached by Jerry Rice for the NFC and Steve Young for the AFC, replacing Eli and Peyton Manning from last year. Rice and Young are both Pro Football Hall of Famers who played for Super Bowl champs with the San Francisco 49ers.
