You may have noticed that this has turned out to be a very pants-centric summer, as many of the season’s biggest trends happen to be pants. But what sets summer pants apart from those of adjacent seasons—aside from needing to be very lightweight—is that they’re far more fun. And Anne Hathaway has just proven herself to be a fan of one of those fun summer pant trends.

Hathaway, who recently announced that she’s pregnant with her third child, just stepped out in NYC as she gears up to promote The Odyssey. The pant trend she wore as part of her all-black outfit was both highly specific and undoubtedly risqué: sheer balloon pants. She paired them with a black bodysuit, black-and-white kitten-heel mules, and the new Dior Cigale Bag. Yes, the sheer clothing trend can be challenging to style without exposing all, but there are several tricks you can employ, such as wearing a bodysuit as Hathaway did. You could also wear hotpants underneath, pair them with a long top, or simply choose a pair with built-in shorts.

Lupita Nyong’o just shifted the Canadian tuxedo into a new gear. The Oscar winner and star of the upcoming blockbuster The Odyssey took head-to-toe denim to a new level at a recent Audi racing event, proving that more is definitely more when it comes to fashion’s favorite fabric.

Instead of the standard two-piece pairing, Nyong’o doubled down, wearing four pieces at once. Her look featured classic jeans, a crop top, and a hybrid jacket-slash-vest by Monse with a contrasting collar. Styled by Micaela Erlanger, the unexpected combo of the designer piece gave the whole vibe an architectural edge. Now, you can add Olivia Wilde to that list. The actress and director was recently photographed in Portofino, and her outfit is the epitome of cool vacation style.

Instead of casual flip-flops, Wilde wore Khaite Jane Flats ($1006) embellished with palladium discs. Khaite describes the shoes as “soft, slipper-like flats in velvety suede,” making them a comfortable choice for Euro summer vacations that require a lot of walking. I’ll never get rid of my flip-flops, to be sure, but I avoid wearing them when I don’t have my toes painted or when I take any form of public transport where my feet could get dirty or trampled on. In those cases, closed-toe shoes are definitely my preference—even if they’re not by Khaite.

Dua Lipa is back at work, but she’s still wearing bridal white. Last month, she married Callum Turner in a town hall wedding in London, followed by a bigger bash in Sicily. The newlyweds then took a fabulous Italian honeymoon tour, staying at a slew of the chicest hotels in Italy, all of which my colleague expertly identified for you. All good things must come to an end, however. Dua and Callum were photographed deplaning at JFK yesterday, and the singer quickly got back to work today at Electric Lady Studios.

I went to Banana Republic to peruse the latest shopping finds and found a mix of pieces primed for the first weeks of summer and upcoming vacation days. Beautiful dresses with A-line silhouettes feel perfect for anything from warm days in the Hamptons to weddings in the Mediterranean. Sleek thong sandals are an outfit-finishing piece to wear with relaxed drawstring straight-leg trousers and linen shorts alike. White jeans crafted in a classic ’90s silhouette are a great piece to wear with everything from button-up shirts to soft cashmere knits.

Shoe color trends are always cycling in and out, but there is one, in particular, that’s “in” quite frequently. It’s bold, playful, and chic all in one. The shoe color in question? Hot pink. We all remember the boom of hot-pink everything in 2023, à la Barbie and Valentino. Now, the trend has returned with intention, and Charli XCX is the latest fashion-inclined celebrity to endorse it.

While out and about in London recently, the musician was spotted wearing a black minidress with a black leather clutch. On her feet, she wore a pair of hot-pink pointed-toe pumps that brought her almost-all-black outfit to life. The vibrancy of her shoes alone brings a large dose of whimsy and playfulness to her otherwise simple look. Had she chosen to wear black shoes, her outfit wouldn’t have popped in the same way that it did because of the contrasting shoe color. While hot pink may be a color that doesn’t have the same chic reputation as more understated tones, it does elevate a look when worn in this way, and the chic, classic shoe style helps to make the bold hue look far more elegant than cheesy.

Simon Porte Jacquemus knows how to put on a show—and dress its viewers in the chicest way possible. The designer from the South of France debuted his spring/summer 2027 collection this week at Phare de la Pietra on the French island of Corsica and invited some of the most stylish women from his home country and beyond to watch from the front row. As for what they wore for the occasion, the best dressed among them seemed keen on donning one dress color and one dress color only: aqua blue, the summer shade that’s been quietly taking over, replacing the likes of regal purple and butter yellow in recent months. It was all over the show venue, setting the tone for a run of dominance throughout the remainder of 2026.

The most prominent wearer of aqua blue was Alexandra Leclerc (formerly Saint Mleux), whose looks at Jacquemus shows get better every season. This time around, Leclerc wore an aqua-blue poplin dress with a V-shaped neckline and a draped bodice that cinched beneath the knee before poofing out in a mermaid-esque fashion. (See Look 5 from the show.) She paired the dress with light-colored accessories, including an ivory box bag with feather embellishments and a pair of white classic pumps.

Leclerc’s dress was one of a handful of aqua blue pieces featured in the S/S 27 collection. There was also a strapless gown and matching headpiece in the shade, as well as a voluminous skirt and pair of ballet flats. Clearly it’s making the rounds. She also wasn’t the only attendee who wore the color, with others like Ro Brahmand and Quenlin Blackwell also picking dresses in a similarly vibrant and summer-ready shade.

What stood out even more than aqua blue’s presence at the show, though, was its versatility, particularly when it came to shoe styling. Often with bright color trends, there’s really only one shoe color that looks best with it—notably black. However, with aqua blue, there’s no reason why someone wearing the hue should avoid experimenting in the shoe-color department. For instance, while Blackwell and Brahmand chose black heels, Leclerc took another approach, opting for white heels. In the show, models donned coordinating aqua-blue footwear, as well as baby pink and yellow.

As a result, aqua blue becomes a no-brainer dress color for summer weddings. You can wear it to multiple ceremonies, easily changing up the look with different footwear. So what are you waiting for?
