62 Years Ago Today: Legendary Rock Band Arrived in the US for the First Time

If you happened to be in New York on this very day 62 years ago, you probably had no idea at the time that you were part of a monumental moment in rock history.

On June 1, 1964, an up-and-coming rock band from England called the Rolling Stones landed in the United States for the first time. The group landed at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.

Rolling Stones original bassist Bill Wyman recalled the groundbreaking day in his book, Stone Alone: The Story of a Rock ‘n’ Roll Band (h/t Ultimate Classic Rock):

“Police started pulling us out, saying, ‘Run! It’s every man for himself,'” Wyman wrote. “In seconds, the hotel reception became an insane asylum. (Mick Jagger) and I made a mad dash into the lobby, and Hilda Skarfe of Song Hits magazine raced after us, followed by about 70 screaming girls, with police close behind…we ran into a laundry closet by mistake and we were trapped. It was like a scene from a movie!”

The Rolling Stones scheduled 11 shows for their first tour in the United States. The first stop was the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino, California. That would be followed by back-to-back at Joe Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas.

Mick Jagger and the group concluded their first American tour with two shows at New York City’s iconic Carnegie Hall venue on June 20. The tour set list included covers of Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away” and Muddy Waters’ “I Just Want to Make Love to You,” hit songs.

After completing their second British tour in London on Oct. 17, the Rolling Stones returned to the United States to begin a North American tour. It started with a concert at the Montreal Forum in Montreal, Quebec, on Oct. 29, 1965.

The tour list included their future No. 1 hit song “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” and “Get Off of My Cloud.” They wrapped up their second tour on Dec. 5 at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.

Ruling Looming After Judge Hears Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby’s Eligibility Case

Attorneys for Brendan Sorsby and the NCAA presented arguments before a district judge Monday as the Texas Tech transfer quarterback seeks an injunction to allow him to play next season after he acknowledged making thousands of impermissible bets while in college. There was no immediate ruling from Senior Judge Ken Curry after the two-hour hearing, or any indication of when he would rule on a temporary injunction against the NCAA. An injunction would not change Sorsby being declared permanently ineligible by the NCAA, but would put that on hold as the case proceeds. Sorsby did not attend the hearing in the 99th District Court in Lubbock County, where Texas Tech is located. Jeffrey Kessler, the attorney who negotiated the House settlement against the NCAA and is now representing Sorsby, requested a ruling by June 15. That would be a week before the deadline for Sorsby to apply for the NFL supplemental draft if he remains ineligible to play for the Red Raiders this fall. Kessler told the court the 22-year-old Sorsby has a diagnosed addiction and anxiety-driven compulsion. He said the quarterback was never motivated by financial gain in his gambling and never sought to alter or compromise the outcome of a game. Sorsby, who transferred to Texas Tech for a reported multimillion-dollar deal after playing for Cincinnati the past two seasons, recently completed a month-long residential treatment program for gambling addiction. According to a clinician who treated Sorsby, Kessler said, not allowing the quarterback to play would hurt his mental health and impede the progress of his recovery. NCAA lead attorney Taylor Askew questioned how being allowed to play again in college, and putting him back into the situation that triggered his behavior, would help Sorsby’s mental health. As for NCAA rules, Askew said, Sorsby would have been ruled ineligible long ago had his gambling been known in the past. Court filings revealed that on March 11 the NCAA received a tip from an online gambling book, which had been informed by law enforcement, about Sorsby’s gambling activity. Texas Texas was notified April 14 that the NCAA was doing an investigation. “If this were just one or two violations, it would still render him ineligible,” Askew told the judge. “This is thousands of violations, 40 individual bets on Indiana football when he was a member of the team, he was on the roster. He just wasn’t traveling. A member of the team, that’s permanent ineligibility.” The bets made by Sorsby According to court documents, Sorsby made thousands of bets totaling at least $90,000 while in college. That included at least 40 bets on Indiana football when he was a Hoosiers freshman in 2022, though none on games that he played in over two seasons there. The documents show that Sorsby made at least 2,900 bets totaling more than $30,000 while at Indiana from June 2022 through December 2023. He continued betting after transferring to Cincinnati, though not on the Bearcats. He provided more than $60,000 to a friend to deposit into a shared FanDuel account registered in another name. Sorsby transferred to Texas Tech after last season, to a state where online betting is illegal, and electronically transferred about $5,000 to other individuals who placed bets on his behalf. Texas Tech seeks Sorsby’s reinstatement Texas Tech announced on April 27 that Sorsby was taking an indefinite leave of absence to enter a residential treatment program. Coach Joey McGuire said last week that the quarterback would still be able to participate in offseason workouts with the Red Raiders after returning to campus. Their season opener is Sept. 5 at home against Abilene Christian. Texas Tech won the Big 12 last season before a loss in the College Football Playoff capped a 12-2 season. Sorsby sought the injunction against the NCAA in a lawsuit filed May 18, the same day Texas Tech ruled him ineligible, a necessary step before the school could pursue his reinstatement. Tech filed that request for reinstatement the following day, and the NCAA denied it May 22. Texas Tech is appealing that ruling. Reporting by the Associated Press.

The Top 10 Video Games Releasing in June 2026

Even in a post-E3 world, June is known to gamers as a time to get more information on upcoming releases. While we’re anticipating lots of big news from Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony in the weeks ahead, that doesn’t mean there won’t be some actual game releases to sink our teeth into.

Before getting to the list, there are a couple of items of note, starting with the long-anticipated arrival of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, which lands on both consoles on June 3. Also, DAVE THE DIVER gets some DLC with “In the Jungle” on June 18. With that out of the way, here are my top 10 video games that are coming out in June:

10) Copa City

A nontraditional soccer game where instead of being a player or coach, you’re an event organizer who can manage facilities, create infrastructure, provide security, and more.

9) Hollowbody

Released on PC in 2024, Hollowbody is a retro-survival-horror game that promises all the usual genre tropes like limited resources and environmental puzzles in addition to shooting stuff. There’s a fun PS1-era aesthetic at work here.

Dead or Alive 6 Last Round (Koei Tecmo Games) on Steam

8) Dead or Alive 6 Last Round

An updated version of 2019’s Dead or Alive 6, Last Round features updated graphics, five fighters previously available as bonuses or DLC, and a photo mode for, well, you know.

7) Solarpunk

A survival game with a twist as instead of navigating some dystopian future or calamitous past, Solarpunk is set in an advanced world comprised of floating islands. Construction, farming, and exploration await.

6) EA Sports UFC 6

The sixth entry in EA Sports’ Ultimate Fighting Championship series, and first since 2023, arrives this month. Past versions have largely done a solid job of making the combat sport entertaining. Let’s see if they integrate TKO’s relentless branding and cross-promotion for added authenticity.

5) The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

An RPG that looks like Octopath Traveler from Square? Say less.

4) Star Fox

A full remake of Star Fox 64 for the Nintendo Switch 2 is landing late in June, revisiting the series’ apex. It’s been a long dry spell for Star Fox fans; let’s hope this can recapture what made the 1997 version so enjoyable.

3) NBA THE RUN

This looks like a spiritual successor to NBA Street and, to a lesser extent, NBA Jam. Here’s hoping it fares better than the underwhelming NBA Playgrounds titles.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam (Team17) on Steam

2) Hell Let Loose: Vietnam

This is a tactical, 50-versus-50 online multiplayer where communication and strategy are key to success. The original, set in World War II, is rock solid. A switch to Vietnam and its rich jungle environments is oozing with potential.

1) Gothic 1 Remake

Another full remake. This time, it’s the 2001 RPG Gothic that’s getting the treatment. While the original never hooked me the way The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind did, I’m still interested to see what developer Alkimia Interactive does with an open-world title from that same time.

Prime Video Quietly Adds 5 New Movies to Its Lineup

June is upon us, and for those who like to watch movies, that means a new roster of films available to stream. Prime Video has added a bevy of new shows, 71 to be exact, and now, five of them are getting the spotlight.

Summer is usually a good time to get outdoors and enjoy the warm weather. But, it’s also fun to get cozy indoors after a long day of outdoor activities and watch a movie.

Considering that Prime Video has added 71 new movies starting in early June, you may not have the time to watch them all. That’s why Alix Blackburn at Tom’s Guide has picked five of them to watch that he considers real standouts.

“After digging through all the releases coming to Prime Video this June, it’s clear there’s a lot that doesn’t need your attention,” he states in the feature. “So I’ve sifted through the lineup and highlighted the films that are genuinely worth putting at the top of your watchlist.”

His picks include the 2014 film A Walk Among the Tombstones, the 2019 thriller Escape Room, the 1994 romantic comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral, the 2023 drama A Man Called Otto and the 2012 crime drama End of Watch.

Of these, the one that stands out most to me is Four Weddings and a Funeral, simply because it was such a huge movie when it was released in the 1990s and has remained popular throughout the years. The film notched two Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, which is uncommon for a comedy.

In the film, Charles, played by Hugh Grant, is an Englishman who doesn’t like the idea of getting married but goes to a series of weddings over several months with some friends.

“At the first ceremony, Charles meets Carrie (Andie MacDowell), an American woman visiting the UK, and the two quickly form a connection,” Blackburn states. “However, their relationship becomes complicated as they repeatedly reunite at different weddings while going through other romances, engagements, and unexpected life events.”

Between Four Weddings and a Funeral and the 70 others titles that have been added to Prime Video this month, June should be jam-packed with viewing options for laid-back summer nights. It’s a great way to kick off the season.

Bryson DeChambeau Turns to Google Gemini AI to Fix Swing: ‘I Was Frustrated’

LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau has been searching for answers on the course during a quiet stretch of play over the past few months. That skid has included missing the cut at both the Masters and the PGA Championship. However, he appears to have rediscovered his form after finishing third at the LIV Golf Korea event, closing with a 5-under 65, just one shot out of a playoff. To find ways to improve his swing and break out of his slump, DeChambeau has taken an unconventional approach. He’s now turning to AI and Google Gemini to analyze and refine his game in search of a new edge. “I spent some long hours on the range trying to figure some stuff out and I was talking to AI quite a bit last night trying to go through some different physics principles that make the club turn over, having some alpha torque and gamma torque put in there,” DeChambeau said. “I was like, what makes that possibly do that, and was talking about just grip pressure and tension.” The process marked a rare dive into technology-driven experimentation for the two-time major champion. It also reflects his ongoing search for consistency after an uneven stretch in recent weeks. “I came out here today with just a little bit more freer hands and I felt the club a lot better,” DeChambeau said. “I felt like I could close the club a lot more effectively and then I started stripping it.” Reporters spotted DeChambeau on the range between 7:30 and 8 p.m. on Saturday night, visibly frustrated as he slammed his club into the ground. The moment goes to show the intensity of his struggles as he works through ongoing swing issues, prompting him to explore Gemini. “I was frustrated,” DeChambeau said. “I’ve been trying everything in my body. I didn’t actually figure it out on the range. I went back and started talking to Gemini and trying to figure out just what it could be to passively make the club turn over.” The experimentation reflects DeChambeau’s broader effort to better understand the physics behind his swing and find a repeatable solution. He believes those late-night conversations helped him identify a key adjustment that finally clicked. “Hands just felt like they were moving forward and I couldn’t get the club to turn over even if I tried to stop it, here and [it] just wouldn’t turn over,” DeChambeau said. “So I left kind of frustrated, and then learned later that night, I needed to relax my grip pressure and let the thing fold over naturally.”

Ranking The NFL’s Top 5 Defenses: Where Do Rams Stand With Myles Garrett?

The Rams continue to tell the NFL world that they’re all-in on winning the Super Bowl. Just over two months after trading for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie, Los Angeles on Monday acquired reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns in a blockbuster deal. The Rams gave up ascending edge rusher Jared Verse and premium draft capital in the trade — a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round selection and a 2029 third-rounder. With Garrett in the fold, how does the Rams’ defense stack up with the NFL’s best? Here’s my ranking of the league’s top five units in descending order: Key additions: OLB Jonathan Greenard (trade), CB Riq Woolen (FA), OLB Arnold Ebiketie (FA)Key losses: OLB Jaelan Phillips (FA), LB Nakobe Dean (FA), S Reed Blankenship (FA) Losing Jaelan Phillips in free agency was a big loss for the Eagles, but they shouldn’t lose a step in the pass rush after trading for Jonathan Greenard in April. Before a down year in 2025, the former Pro Bowler had back-to-back seasons of 12 sacks. The signing of ex-Seahawk Riq Woolen on a one-year deal represents a low risk, potentially high reward boost to what’s already a strong secondary. If edge rusher Jalen Carter is healthy, playcaller Vic Fango has one of the truly elite defenses in the NFL. Key additions: DT Tyler Oyedim (draft)Key losses: DL John Franklin-Myers (FA), S P.J. Locke (FA) The Broncos last season had the NFL’s best pass rush, the No. 2 total defense and ranked third in points allowed. Not to mention, an already feared Houston defense added a high-quality veteran safety in Reed Blankenship via free agency and landed Ohio State defensive tackle Kayden McDonald in the second round of the draft.

Burger King Brings Back Beloved Menu Item for the First Time in 15 Years

Burger King is resurrecting its popular Crown Nuggets for the first time in 15 years, bringing back a beloved menu item that customers have wanted the fast-food chain to rekindle for years now.

The nuggets, which get their name from their crown shape, will return to Burger King restaurants across the nation beginning June 2. According to the Miami-based company, the Crown Nuggets will only be available while supplies last, so that’s a downer for fans who were hoping they’d be a permanent addition to the menu. The addition, however, marks the first time the menu item has been available since 2011.

“We’ve been committed to creating awesome experiences for the whole family and listening to our guests, and bringing back our Crown Nuggets allows us to do both of those things,” Burger King chief marketing officer Joel Yashinsky said in a statement.

“And, by partnering with Crayola, the brand known for inspiring creativity and imagination to generations of families,” he added, “we’ve created a King Jr. Meal experience that brings more fun and interaction to mealtime for guests of all ages.”

As for the kid option, beginning June 9, Burger King will offer a limited-time kids meal with a co-branded four-pack of Crayola crayons, a colorable crown and a meal bag. The nuggets will also be offered as an eight-piece order and part of Burger King’s $3.99 King Jr. Meal.

“Crayola has always been focused on creating fun for the whole family, making this partnership with Burger King a natural fit,” Crayola head of global partnerships Anna Roca said in a statement. “Together, we’re creating moments that encourage families to be engaged, get creative and make everyday mealtime experiences even more colorful.”

Burger King got its start back in 1954 and serves more than 11 million guests around the world. They’re the second largest fast food hamburger restaurant franchise in the world, according to research from their official website, and have “done it by serving high-quality, great-tasting, and affordable food in a family-friendly atmosphere.” While Burger King is known for its burgers, their nuggets also make a splash.
