Wrestler Tanea ‘Rebel’ Brooks Reveals Terminal ALS Diagnosis After Long Health Struggle
A beloved former wrestler who spent years entertaining fans has made a heartbreaking announcement about her health. After a lengthy medical journey, Tanea “Rebel” Brooks has revealed she has been diagnosed with an incurable terminal disease.
Former AEW and TNA Wrestling Star Rebel Has Been Diagnosed With ALS
Between 2013 and 2021, Tanea Brooks entertained wrestling fans while working for companies like AEW, TNA, and OVW, mostly under the ring name Rebel. Known for her unbridled enthusiasm and complete commitment, she most recently performed as the manager of Dr. Britt Baker. During their highly entertaining partnership, Baker would often call her “Reba” in a dismissive, comedic manner that was part of their act. Additionally, she became truly beloved by many fans for her social media presence and her “Rebel’s Happy Hour” podcast, which showed how lovely and genuine she is.
Brooks began to develop health issues, which she chronicled on social media. After previously being hospitalized in May 2024, she shared an Instagram reel in November 2025 in which she revealed that she’d been diagnosed with primary pulmonary lymphoma. That is a rare form of lung cancer. In the months after that, Brooks continued to share her medical journey on social media. Then, on May 1, 2026, she posted three videos on her X account stating that she’d been diagnosed with ALS.
“Okay, there’s an update, and hold on, because there is a plot twist. First, I want to say thank you for all your prayers, because for those who know, it’s been a two-year medical journey trying to find out what is wrong, and finally, our prayers have been answered. The thing is, sometimes we don’t want to hear that answer to our prayers. And so, while I was waiting to have lung surgery for the masses on my lungs, the doctors at Mayo finally found what’s going on.”
Brooks continued, “The doctors have diagnosed me with terminal ALS. There is not a lot of research behind ALS, and we don’t know how long I have. But it explains why I have trouble walking and talking, and all my functions will soon decline. Now we can prepare for the future and what is to come. I want to say thank you to Tony Khan and AEW for supporting me on this medical journey. It has been a blessing that is unheard of. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. And thank you to all of you for your prayers. Please continue to pray for a peaceful journey and a peaceful passing. I love you.”

ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and has been known as Lou Gehrig’s disease in the past. It is a non-contagious and incurable disease that causes the motor neurons in a person’s brain and spinal cord to break down and die. That results in the brain losing the ability to communicate with the muscles of the body, causing them to progressively weaken and then shut down until the person can no longer move. It is a terminal disease because it eventually affects the muscles that are needed to breathe, which results in respiratory failure.
The battle to find a cure or effective treatment for ALS continues, with The ALS Association being the largest philanthropic funder of research into the disease in the world today. Our thoughts are with Tanea Brooks, her family, friends, and fans during this incredibly difficult time.

Why Baywatch’s Alexandra Paul Is Proud Of Recent Mugshot
In the ’90s, Baywatch star Alexandra Paul was saving drowning beachgoers in slow-motion. But recently, she found herself behind bars trying to “save” animals.
The 62-year-old actress proudly shared her mugshot to social media this week, after she was arrested on March 15 for trespassing at a Wisconsin dog breeding facility.
In the caption, the longtime animal activist—known for playing Lt. Stephanie Holden on the long-running series—explained why she preferred the “bedraggled” booking photo to a glossy headshot she posed for back in 2021.
The ‘Baywatch’ Star’s Mugshot
On March 31, Paul shared the two photos to her Instagram page.
“The first photo is my recent mugshot for rescuing beagles from Ridglan Farms,” she wrote, accusing the establishment of “animal cruelty violations” in her caption.
“The second photo is a 2021 headshot. Which photo do I prefer? The mugshot,” she continued, before explaining why.
“Because that day was the best day of my life: in a community of animal lovers, having a higher purpose, bringing a lab beagle to safety, getting arrested for my values, and spending 2 days in jail for them,” she wrote. “I look bedraggled (6 hours in the rain) and older (sexty two) than the second photo where the lighting is good, my hair is brushed and I have makeup on, but the mugshot represents more who I am and what I want my life to mean.”
She added the hashtags #savethedogs, #simpleheart and #freethedogs.
Among those praising Paul in the comments of her post was Baywatch co-star Nicole Eggert, who wrote, “That’s our girl!!! 👏🤍”
Details of Paul’s Arrest
The arrest happened back in March 2026, with Dane County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a trespassing call, according to a press release obtained by Fox News Digital at the time.
“50-60” protesters, including Paul, allegedly “broke into the facility and began removing numerous dogs” from the farm, per the release. The actress was one of around 20 people arrested, with Paul sharing footage from the incident to social media at the time (above).
“The Dane County Sheriff’s Office understands how deeply people feel for the beagles at Ridglan Farms, and we respect their right to express that passion through peaceful protests,” Sheriff Kalvin Barrett said in a statement.
“Our role is to keep everyone safe and to respond when unlawful activity takes place. We encourage anyone with concerns about animal welfare or research practices to engage through lawful and constructive avenues,” the statement added. “The Sheriff’s Office remains committed to maintaining public safety, promoting peaceful dialogue, and ensuring that all parties can exercise their rights within the bounds of the law.”
According to reports, some of the dogs taken were returned, while others were unaccounted for.
Per WKOW, the farm is just one of two large dog breeders in the country that also conducts experimentation “in the development and testing of veterinary medical treatments.” In October 2025, the farm and the local district attorney reached an agreement to no longer sell dogs for medical research, effective no later than July 1, 2026.
“Ridglan Farms is in the process of entering a new chapter in our mission to improve the health of pets and humans alike,” the farm said at the time. “Despite the challenges of the past few months, we are tremendously proud of the outstanding care we provide to our animals, which play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of cutting-edge veterinary and medical treatments.”
This isn’t Paul’s first run-in with the law when it comes to animals.
In 2021, according to the Los Angeles Times, she was charged with misdemeanor theft after allegedly taking chickens off a Foster Farms truck. In 2023, she was later found not guilty, per The Fresno Bee.

Cardiologist Reveals Early Morning Habits to Avoid to Protect Heart Health
Protecting our heart health requires more than just keeping an eye on blood pressure and cholesterol numbers. It’s a full lifestyle commitment structured by the daily habits we engage in. And since research shows heart attacks are more likely to occur in the morning than at night, it gives us a pretty compelling reason to look closer at how we start the day.
If you’ve followed a structured morning routine for years, you’re already ahead of the curve. But many folks fall victim to jumping headfirst into their day as soon as they open their eyes. Habits like grabbing your phone immediately, checking emails in bed, doom-scrolling social media, smoking, or jumping into a high-intensity workout can all work against you in those first waking moments, according to Ahmad Abdul-Karim, MD, FHRS, a heart and vascular electrophysiologist at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth.
“Starting the day with immediate digital stimulation can trigger a stress response and raise blood pressure,” he explains. “Such behaviors activate the sympathetic nervous system, increase stress hormone levels, and can cause exaggerated morning blood pressure.”
After waking, your body already goes through a natural surge in blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol as it shifts out of its resting state. Adding in more stress during this window only further amplifies those effects, placing extra strain on the cardiovascular system when it’s already more vulnerable.
“The first 30 minutes after waking set the tone for your day,” Abdul-Karim explains. “A calm, structured start not only supports better cardiovascular stability throughout the day, but also nurtures a sense of wholeness. It aligns your body, mind, and spirit so you feel centered and ready to take on what’s ahead.”
Rather than chaotically jumping into your day, Abdul-Karm suggests easing in: hydrate with one to two cups of water, perform low-impact exercises like light stretching or a 10-to-15-minute walk, and eat a healthy, high-fiber breakfast.

Birkenstock’s Ergonomic Shinjuku Sandals Are Nearly 60% Off Right Now
Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal
Nordstrom Rack has become one of the better places to find Birkenstock deals, with several styles from slides to boots sitting well below their typical retail prices. The brand rarely discounts through its own channels, making the Rack one of the few reliable spots to get into a pair of Birks without paying full price. The latest find is the Shinjuku—a cool-looking three-stap sandal—which is almost 60% off.
The Birkenstock Shinjuku Sandals normally cost $230, but this Nordstrom Rack sale brings the price down to $97, thanks to a 57% discount. Only the white colorway is on sale, but all sizes from 8/8.5 to 12/12.5 are available.
Birkenstock Shinjuku Sandals, $97 (was $230) at Nordstrom Rack
What Shoppers Should Know
- Upper: Nubuck leather with textile webbing
- Footbed: Cork-latex with microfiber lining
- Sole: Lugged PU (water-resistant)
- Closure: G-Hook buckles with hook-and-loop backstrap
- Best For: City-wearing, everyday wear, warm weather adventures
The Shinjuku is a departure from Birkenstock’s usual two-strap or moccasin-inspired silhouette, opting for a three-strap design and a lugged PU outsole that’s made for more active use. They still have the same cork-latex footbed that makes every pair of Birks worth wearing, with a microfiber lining that wicks moisture in a way the brand’s usual suede lining doesn’t.
I like to compare this sandal to the Milano, the brand’s other adventure-ready three-strap sandal that retails for $140. The Shinjuku takes the same adjustability-first approach and builds on it with sport-influenced hardware and a more durable outsole. This sale price puts it below the Milano while bringing a more technical feature set.

Named after one of Tokyo’s most iconic neighborhoods, the Shinjuku is Birkenstock’s nod to urban culture and city walking that traditional sandals weren’t made for. It’s a relatively new addition to the Birk lineup (dropped in May of 2024), designed specifically to bridge the gap between the label’s heritage sandal DNA and the demand for more city-focused styles.
The Birkenstock Shinjuku Sandals are available now for $97, and will likely sell out fast, as Birkenstock deals tend to do.

Paul Pierce Blasts Nikola Jokic After Poor First-Round Performance
NBA Legend Paul Pierce had some tough words for Nikola Jokic while discussing the Nuggets’ first-round exit against the Timberwolves. Jokic struggled mightily against the injury-depleted Timberwolves, who were missing Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo for most of the series. On the No Fouls Given podcast, Pierce said he doesn’t believe that Jokic is receiving enough criticism for this loss.
“Let this had have been LeBron at the peak of his powers. What we would have been saying?” –@paulpierce34 on Nikola Jokic losing to the depleted Timberwolves in the first round

“He’s in his prime,” said Pierce. “You’re the best player in the league, you’re not supposed to lose in the first round.”
Pierce compared Jokic to LeBron and the treatment he received for losing early in his career. Pierce argues that had LeBron been in this situation, he would be getting lampooned for this. If Jokic is going to be considered the best player in the world, he should be held to a higher standard.
“Had that been Lebron, at 29, after winning 3 out of 4 MVPs, he would be getting scolded tomorrow,” said Pierce. “And if we’re saying Joker and the international game is better than America’s, and he’s the best player, and this is what’s happening? C’mon now.”
Pierce went further with his criticism of Jokic and the Nuggets, comparing the team to Instagram models. According to Pierce, like the models, the Nuggets looked really good online and in the lead-up to the series. However, when he saw them play, he was very disappointed because they didn’t look as good in person.

85 Years Ago Today, Citizen Kane Debuted
While the number is impossible to pinpoint, estimates suggest that anywhere between 500,000 and 1 million feature-length films have been made since the first person got behind and in front of the camera.
From that seminal moment, movies have evolved to feature sound and color. Their stories have expanded to unbelievable possibilities, like a terrifying alien attack on a spaceship or a world full of song and dance.
Of the unfathomable amount of movies that have been produced, what many widely consider to be the very greatest ever premiered 85 years ago today.
On May 1, 1941, Citizen Kane, starring, directed and co-written by Orson Welles, debuted for the first time, premiering at the RKO Palace Theatre in New York City. Welles was just 26 years old at the debut of one of the great triumphs of 20th-century art.
On May 1, 1941, “Citizen Kane” made its debut at The Palace Theatre in NYC -and has gone on to top many lists as the “Best Film of All Time”….
Do you agree? pic.twitter.com/iZ7FozDSSk— Noirchick In Old Hollywood (@Noirchick1) May 1, 2026
Releasing nationwide on Sept. 5, the film was not a commercial success due to backlash from newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst, who is believed to be the inspiration for the film. Hearst heavily attempted to suppress the film by bashing it in his newspapers and threatening theaters that considered playing it.
Though the film was not initially a hit with general audiences due to the smear campaign from Hearst, it was highly praised critically, earning nine nominations at the Academy Awards. It would win one Academy Award for best original screenplay.
Citizen Kane was revolutionary because of Welles’ innovative direction, as well as the film’s non-linear plot structure and grounded performances. When moviegoers saw the movie for the first time, it was truly unlike anything they had seen before.
“When I made Kane, I didn’t know enough about movies, and I was constantly encouraged by Toland, who said ‘Carry everything in one shot – don’t do anything else.’ In other words, play scenes through without cutting”

In the next 8 1/2 decades that would follow, Welles’ masterpiece would become the benchmark for film, topping countless lists as the greatest ever made. The prestigious Sight & Sound poll from the British Film Institute, comprised of 1,600 influential critics and filmmakers, ranks the greatest movies of all time. Citizen Kane held the No. 1 spot as greatest ever for 50 years from 1962 to 2002.
The film’s debut 85 years ago today would end up being one of the most important in the industry’s history, as almost everything made since has been influenced in some way by Citizen Kane.
