Each year, Americans flock to top tourist destinations around the world, especially warm ones that offer a tropical paradise. But, whenever people are traveling, they have to be careful and stay safe.

Before leaving on a trip, especially to an unfamiliar place, the U.S. Department of State recommends to review the current travel advisory situation, as well as “entry requirements, local laws and tips from the U.S. embassy or consulate for the destination you plan to visit.” They also suggest enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) before travelers go outside the country on a trip.

Now, U.S. travelers are being told to avoid a popular tourist spot due to increased risks from criminal organizations. So, if you have plans to go to this popular destination this winter, since it’s a warm hotspot, you might want to reconsider.

U.S. Travelers Cautioned Against Tourist Spot Due to Rise in Crime

The U.S. Department of State has officially issued a Level 2 advisory Baja California Sur, which includes the vacation destination Los Cabos, asking U.S. citizens to use more caution when going to this popular vacation area because of a rise in crime.

“Many violent crimes take place in Mexico. They include homicide, kidnapping, carjacking and robbery,” the U.S. Department of State notes. “There is a risk of terrorist violence, including terrorist attacks and other activity in Mexico.”

They add that “the U.S. government has limited ability to help in many parts of Mexico. U.S. government employees are not allowed to travel to certain high-risk areas. Due to security risks, U.S. citizens should follow the same restrictions as U.S. government employees while traveling.”

Those restrictions include not to travel between cities after dark; to “rely on dispatched vehicles from regulated taxi stands or app-based services like Uber or Cabify and may not wave down taxis on the street”; to avoid traveling alone, especially in areas that are remote; and to avoid driving “between Mexican border cities, the U.S.-Mexico border and the interior of Mexico.”

A Level 2 advisory means to exercise increased caution when you’re traveling to a destination. The next level is Level 3, which means to reconsider travel, and Level 4, which means do not travel to that destination.

So, at the very least, before going to Los Cabos or on any other trip outside your area to check check the U.S. Embassy’s website for updates on travel advisories and local safety information. Traveling is supposed to be fun and relaxing, and it can be with some simple steps.

Staff shortages are causing challenges for air travelers throughout the U.S. due to the government shutdown.

On November 1, staffing shortages were disrupting air travel at 35 air traffic control sites, The New York Times reported.According to Bloomberg,air traffic delays were starting to “pile” up due to staffing concerns. ABC News referred to air travel as “chaos.”

• According to Flight Aware, there were more than 1,100 delayed flights within, into and out of the U.S. as of 9:30 a.m. CT on November 1.
• There were 143 cancellations in that category, Flight Aware reported.
• John F. Kennedy airport in New York and the Fort Lauderdale airport in Florida had the highest number of domestic issues, according to Flight Aware’s statistics.

The Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, has provided updates on wait times at checkpoints, but the last one posted was on October 30.

“NEWS: Yesterday, October 30th, TSA officers screened over 2.5M people (+17% YoY). Average wait times were 4.43 minutes in standard lanes and 2.03 minutes in TSA PreCheck lanes. Do you have travel-related questions? Text ‘Travel’ to ‘AskTSA’ (275-872) for help,” it read.

TSA also wrote, “Acting Deputy Administrator Adam Stahl recently joined @ABCNewsLive to discuss how our workforce remains mission-dedicated despite facing challenges during the government shut down.” He said that people should show up between 2 and 2.5 hours before their flights to get through security.

ABC wrote with its October 28 video, “As TSA workers receive their first $0 paycheck, acting TSA Coordinator, Adam Stahl addresses concerns about airport security and shares advice on how early travelers should arrive amid the ongoing government shutdown.” According to ABC, some workers have turned to food banks “to feed their families.”

Stahl said morale was “strong,” and said that people are “mission-focused,” but he noted that they have “bills to pay and childcare.” He said the workers feel the impact every day.

“We are focused on operational continuity,” he said, but he added that there were “isolated impacts to wait times.” He said TSA was “hoping for a speedy resolution to this issue.” Stahl said that people have donated food cards to the TSA workers, and he stressed that air travel would still be

There is an “uptick” in absences, and so he noted that there will be an increase in wait times at some airports. The airports in Atlanta, JFK and Newark have been impacted, he said. “We expect wait times to increase,” he said.

The TSA wrote on X that donations are welcome.

“We’ve had several queries from the public about our donation policy during the shutdown. TSA management may accept donations from travelers on behalf of TSA which will then be distributed to our front-line work force,” TSA wrote.

“Donations of food, non-alcoholic beverages and store or merchant specific gift cards (gas, grocery store, restaurant, etc.) are greatly appreciated! Please note TSA management may NOT accept cash or cash equivalent gift cards (Amex, MC, Visa, etc).”

The Montana Millionaire lottery is here, and the 620,000 tickets are expected to sell out fast.

In Great Falls, MT, people were lined up in the early morning hours to get the tickets.

By 7:45 a.m., over 500,000 of the tickets had already been sold, according to Non Stop Local in Billings.

According to that station, “over 2,000 tickets were sold in just 30 seconds.”

In 2024, the tickets sold out in three hours, Montana Right Now reported.

The top prize is $1 million, and the odds of winning it are 1:124,000, according to the Montana Lottery. Five tickets will win the top prize, one ticket will win $250,000, 2,500 people will win $500, and 6,100 people will win $100. The lottery commission approved more prizes in summer 2025.

Some Montana news sites posted ticket trackers.

“Montana Millionaire tickets just went on sale and if the line im seeing is any indication, we’re going to see another fast sell out. #mtnews,” wrote one news reporter on X, sharing a video.

A person wrote, “My husband is so funny. The past two years he didn’t get his Montana Millionaire lotto ticket because they sell out within a couple of hours and he’s always missed it. Determined to not be defeated this year he had me wake him up at 4:45 am so he could be first in line to get his ticket. Go Brad, house slippers, bed head and all he’s off to get it as tickets go on sale at 5:30 a.m.”

Wrote another person on X, “Happy Montana Millionaire Day to all that celebrate. Hope you get a lucky number.” People posted photos showing the lines on X.

The Montana Millionaire Lottery Winner Won’t Be Known Until December 2025

According to the Montana Lottery, the tickets went on sale on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 5:30 a.m. The cost per play was $20.

“The Quarter Million Monday Drawing will be held on December 1, 2025, offering a prize of $250,000. The Grand Prize Drawing will take place on December 26, 2025, with five lucky winners!” the lottery wrote on its website.

The lottery is not available to Montana residents only. “The Montana Lottery is available to everyone of legal age, whether resident or visitor. Limiting the sale of a product to some people while excluding others is discrimination. It would also be contrary to our mission and place an undue burden on our retailers,” the lottery explains.

“We believe Montana Millionaire is special and successful because it’s exclusive. While we may introduce other raffle games in the future, currently we have made this strategic business decision based on detailed market research and analysis,” the lottery added.

The drawings are not shown live. “The Montana Lottery uses a certified random number generator (RNG) to select winning numbers for Montana Millionaire. This ensures fairness and eliminates the possibility of human error. While the RNG process itself is not visually exciting, we understand that some players may be interested in being a part of this day,” the lottery explained.

Former Major League Baseball relief pitcher Yoervis Medina died this week after suffering a heart attack while driving, which led to a car crash in his native Venezuela. He was 37.

According to Radio America in Venezuela, authorities received a call from outside the Veneto Shopping Center, where a driver had reportedly crashed into several parked vehicles in the area. Upon arrival, rescue personnel from the municipality of Naguanagua discovered Medina “without vital signs.”

Preliminary reports say the Puerto Cabello, Venezuela native had a heart attack behind the wheel which caused the accident.

Medina found success at the major league level

Medina spent parts of three MLB seasons with the Seattle Mariners from 2013-15. He also appeared in five games for the Chicago Cubs in 2015.

“We are saddened to hear of the passing of former Mariners pitcher Yoervis Medina,” the Mariners said in a statement Friday night. “We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends.”

Medina made his MLB debut on April 16, 2013, throwing 1.1 innings of scoreless relief against the Detroit Tigers with three strikeouts. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound hurler appeared in 63 games as a rookie, pitching to a 4-6 record with a 2.91 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 68 innings.

Medina turned in another solid season in 2014, going 5-3 with a 2.68 ERA in 66 appearances. He then pitched in 12 games for the Mariners and five for the Cubs in 2015.

While Medina never returned to the big leagues, he did pitch professionally in Venezuela through the 2023 season.

Mariners still mourning another recent loss

Sadly, Medina is not the only Mariners player from his era to pass away in Venezuela recently. On Oct. 4, Jesus Montero, who played for Seattle from 2012-15, was critically injured in a motorcycle accident in Valencia.

Montero died two weeks later from his injuries, which included “multiple leg fractures, several broken ribs, and significant lung and organ damage.” He was only 35 years old.

The Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, where Montero played after his MLB career was over, paid tribute to him on social media.

“Today, Venezuelan baseball is in mourning. Jesús Montero, a former New York Yankees prospect with five years of experience in the Major Leagues and six seasons in the LVBP with Navegantes del Magallanes, Cardenales de Lara, and Águilas del Zulia, passed away in Valencia,” the league said in a statement confirming the sad news.

“Thank you for every at-bat, for every home run, for every day you proudly defended our colors.”

Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole posted a video of her Halloween costume on Instagram along with a song, and many fans think she was taking swipe at the Kansas City Chiefs’ star.

Kelce, of course, has moved on with pop star Taylor Swift, whose new album was filled with odes to their love. She even built a song around his “wood.”

According to People, Kayla Nicole and Kelce dated for five years off-and-on, starting in 2017. The podcaster told People that she tries to ignore the social media hate directed at her and wants to take control of her own narrative. “The opinions of others are only as big as you make them,” she said in that interview.

Kelce and Swift, of course, are now engaged to be married. She also had her share of broken relationships before finding Kelce, whom she started dating in 2023.

According to USA Today, the song and costume choice were widely regarded by fans to be a swipe at Kelce. “Wheew Banger,” Kayla wrote in the caption of a photo that also showed the outfit, which was a barely there metal dress. She noted the name of the song.
