Here at Who What Wear, we’re unabashed superfans of H&M. The affordable retailer is our go-to destination to stock up on some solid wardrobe basics and where we go when we need something new to wear to work. Our editors all agree that the brand is one of the best places to shop for basics because the pieces always tend to look much more expensive than they really are. Even celebs can’t resist the brand, as evidenced by the below outfit we recently spotted on Emma Roberts.
Roberts, the queen of It bags and designer shoes, wore a full H&M outfit that could easily pass as designer. Her three-piece look consisted of the Denim Shirt with Tie Belt ($60), Cropped High Jeans ($25), and Airy Jersey Top ($25), and in case you don’t have a calculator handy, that only adds up to $110. It looks so luxe thanks to a few elements like the polished belted jacket, the stitching on the jeans, and the print on her blouse. Here’s the funny thing about Adam Sandler, a thing he too often lets people forget: He can act.
Seriously, if all you know of Sandler is his comedy persona, then you’ve probably missed the fact that he occasionally comes out of left field with a relatively serious role that blows some critics away. Regarding his turn as an ambitious jeweler in the Josh and Benny Safdie-directed upcoming Uncut Gems, there have been serious noises about him possibly even making it into Oscar contention.

It’s not a joke, though. Uncut Gems premiered at Telluride in August 2019, and this quote from the Daily Beast‘s glowing take on the movie says a lot: “It’s Sandler’s most enthralling performance since Paul-Thomas Anderson’s Punch-Drunk Love, and perhaps even better suited to his persona.”
Here’s the synopsis:
Uncut Gems is a crime thriller about Howard Ratner (Sandler), a charismatic New York City jeweler always on the lookout for the next big score. When he makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime, Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.
His character is addicted to gambling, and there’s a predatory hunger in his grin near the end of the trailer that says, ‘this is not your Waterboy Adam Sandler anymore.’
We’ll find out for sure if Sandler has the dramatic chops to take home the golden statue when Uncut Gems is released on December 13, 2019.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Franco Harris’ miraculous grab of a deflected ball and subsequent touchdown-scoring run in a narrow 1972 playoff victory against the Oakland Raiders was awarded the GOAT title by a nationwide media panel of 68 football writers and editors, racking up 3,279 points and 39 first-place votes. A touchdown pass caught by San Francisco 49ers receiver Dwight Clark and thrown by quarterback Joe Montana in a 1981 NFC championship win over the Dallas Cowboys came in second. In total, 100 plays were ranked in celebration of the NFL’s centenary.
The Associated Press reports that Harris’ game-winning move gave the Steelers their first ever playoff win and set the precedent for the “Steel Curtain” dynasty to win four Super Bowls throughout the 1974-1979 seasons.
When the play was made, The Steelers were down by one point against the Raiders, as the NFL 100 website notes. Facing fourth-and-10 on his own 40-yard line with just 22 seconds left and no timeouts, Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw hurled a ball to running back John “Frenchy” Fuqua, but the pass was broken up by Raiders safety Jack Tatum.
Harris kept the ball alive by snatching it up millimeters above the turf and charging 60 yards into the end zone.
“There are moments in life where you know what you’re doing,” Harris told the AP. “Me and Frenchy, we had no idea what we were doing.”

One of Elon Musk’s seemingly far-fetched claims is coming true, according to a legitimate study.
The ultra-rich magnate and inventor promised that his Tesla electric cars would soon be powered by batteries with one million-mile total lifespans during the company’s “Autonomy Day” event in April.
Apparently, science backs him up. Wired unearthed the study and has further details:
Earlier this month, a group of battery researchers at Dalhousie University, which has an exclusive agreement with Tesla, published a paper in The Journal of the Electrochemical Society describing a lithium-ion battery that “should be able to power an electric vehicle for over 1 million miles” while losing less than 10 percent of its energy capacity during its lifetime.
Led by physicist Jeff Dahn, one of the world’s foremost lithium-ion researchers, the Dalhousie group showed that its battery significantly outperforms any similar lithium-ion battery previously reported. They noted their battery could be especially useful for self-driving robotaxis and long-haul electric trucks, two products Tesla is developing.
This is a huge breakthrough. As Wired notes, daily charges and discharges of today’s batteries take a rapid toll on components. Tesla’s current battery pack lasts between 300,000 and 500,000 miles, and Musk wants to extend its lifespan to suit vehicles that will travel longer distances frequently, like long-haul electric trucks and robotaxis.
Batteries tested in a study from 2014 show that batteries lost half their energy capacity after 1,000 charge and recharge cycles. But the batteries tested by Dahn and his team lost a mere 10 percent of their energy capacity after 4,000 cycles.
“Four thousand cycles is really impressive,” Greg Less, technical director at the University of Michigan’s Energy Institute battery lab, told Wired. “A million-mile range is easily doable with 4,000 cycles.
Why would Dahn’s research group, which agreed to an exclusive partnership with Tesla in 2016, reveal this information? Because Tesla has patented a similar technology and likely already created its first million-mile battery.
Per Wired,
According to a former member of Dahn’s team, the likely answer is that Tesla already has at least one proprietary battery chemistry that outperforms what’s described in the benchmark paper.
Indeed, shortly after the paper came out, Tesla received a patent for a lithium-ion battery that is remarkably similar to the one described in the paper. Dahn, who declined to comment for this article, is listed as one of its inventors.
Expect Musk to break the news any day now.
