With concepts for autonomous police blimps, limos and even air taxis dropping left and right, it’s refreshing to see that Honda has an unmanned ATV that actually exists. 

Created by the Japanese automotive giant’s R&D branch, the Honda Autonomous Work Vehicle is built on the company’s ATV chassis and uses sensor-based technology in conjunction with GPS to guide the unit over rough terrain. 

The vehicle is programmed with three modes—”Follow Me,” “Pattern,” and “A to B”—that are designed to tackle a range of different jobs like search and rescue, firefighting, construction, agriculture, landscaping, and snow removal. It also has a rail mount system that can be equipped with a variety of attachments. 

Though the self-driving off-roader is still in development, Honda has already tested it in real-world scenarios. A prototype towed 60 pounds of equipment behind firefighters in Colorado, mowed down vegetation on a solar farm in North Carolina, and transported crops while spraying for pests and weeds at an agricultural college in California. 

Honda says it will announce the results of the tests at CES 2019 with the hopes of partnering with potential investors.

Over the past year, it’s felt like pretty much every other shoe trend has been buried beneath a sea of dad sneakers. But another clunky-soled trend has emerged this season, and it’s even giving dad sneakers a run for their money. That trend is combat boots. 

The combat-boot trend has pretty much swept the nation, with NYC-based girls, in particular, fully embracing it. They’re perfect for the chilly Northeastern climate and make walking in inclement winter weather a cozy breeze. (Dr. Martens Jadon boots, for one, have become extremely popular.) Perhaps Jennifer Aniston has taken note of that, because she was spotted in Jackson Hole, Wyoming wearing a pair of her own black combat boots earlier this week. 

At $1195, Aniston’s Gianvito Rossi boots are quite a bit pricier than many combat boots on the market, but they’re an especially chic version of the trend, and she’ll certainly get plenty of wear out of the versatile boots.

“Love for the sea, measureless passion for Italian style and the desire to create a boat as if it was a work of art.” That’s the inspiration for designers Alessio Battistini and Davide Bernardini of ideaeITALIA to create the Nerea NY24, the coolest new day-cruiser yacht in the business. 

The 24-foot NY24 will be built in the Nerea Yacht facilities near Fano, a region boasting one of the most respected yachting industries in the world, with “highly specialized craftsmen and unmatched know-how.”

However the Nerea facility is less boatyard than “a nautical laboratory where every new craft is made-to-measure,” just like the custom suits Italy is well known for. 

Highly personalized, each vessel is tailor made to suit the owner’s requirements. It “blends refinement, versatility, harmony of shapes, colors, richness of materials and technology,” in a “synthesis that offers unrivaled exclusivity.”

The planked teak-lined craft is powered by a single 300 hp Volvo Penta Duoprop engine capable of boosting it to an impressive 32 knots. And a unique three-tiered stern area provides full access to the water while offering protection at the rear in rough seas, Robb Report points out.

The heart of the boat is the living area in the central cockpit, with a fine convertible dining area which turns into a large sun pad as well as two drawer refrigerators, a concealed sink, and a stove. 

Below deck there’s a cabin flooded with natural light featuring a large sofa convertible to a double bed and a bathroom (head). And helping you make the most of it all is a top-drawer audio video system.

Finally the boat, which can be made in any color you desire, is finished with a material called Oltremateria which is water-based, frost-proof, free of cement and epoxy resins, and is even recyclable, Uncrate notes.
