Here’s the 2018 Way to Match Your Shoes and Bag

We’re just going to throw it out there: Matching your shoes and handbag perfectly to each other is an old-school concept. It works, it looks great, and it can take the guesswork out of styling, but it’s just not a necessary guideline to follow. Especially since there are plenty of other, unexpected ways to cleverly piece together an outfit.

If you’re ready for a new approach too, pay attention to the looks ahead. Each of them features creative ways to make bags and shoes feel cohesive in an overall ensemble without following any hard-and-fast rules. Keep scrolling for a closer look.

Go for playful vibes all around with a cheeky handbag and shoes in a can’t-help-but-smile-when-you-see-it color.
Does this bag match with these shoes? Nope. But they make perfect sense in this head-to-toe, prints- and color-mixed ensemble.
Instead of comparing shoes and bag, coordinate your footwear frill with the bit of ruffle by the neckline of your top.
Polar opposites attract in this case with clean, white sneakers and the most fantastic rainbow carryall.
When your boots have this much sparkle, you can tone down your other accessories so as to not steal the spotlight.
Instead of coordinating your bag and shoes, keep your entire look within the same palette, and your footwear can stand out by simply being a different color.
If you choose a handbag that so closely coordinates with your ensemble, then choose a pair of shoes that distinctly doesn’t (and vice versa).
Try this: Match your shoes to your lipstick and your bag to your collar.
You can coordinate shoes and bags by choosing ones in neutral colors—in this case, different neutrals.
As cool as it might be to have a matching pair of holographic heels, it’s even more unexpected to wear this statement handbag with a monochrome skirt-and-boot combination.
A pink bag and red shoes don’t necessarily “match,” but they’re one of our favorite clashing-color combinations.
Fuzzy boots, meet fuzzy handbag.
Is coordinating handbags to your twin’s (or BFF’s) coat a thing?

Ferrari Is Introducing 15 New Cars In a Bold Bid to Double Its Profits

488 Pista Spider

Ferrari announced 15 new ponies for their stable on Tuesday, adding a huge amount of diversity and specialty to the fabled luxury automaker’s lineup. That includes forays into both the utility vehicle and hybrid categories, neither of which Ferrari has ever pursued before.

It’s a logical step forward for the Italian brand, which has largely silent on those fronts while upscale rivals  Bentley, Maserati, Jaguar and Lamborghini have all introduced SUVs. Meanwhile, Porsche’s Mission E project and the just-unveiled fully electric Audi may very well be the impetus behind Ferrari’s latest electric endeavors.

Ferrari’s ostensible goal is to double its earnings as a result of the more diverse lineup, but they’re not only relying on these new categories to achieve that substantial endgame. Special projects like the roofless Monza SP1 and SP2 will serve as reminders of Ferrari’s historic rise and status as an innovative trailblazer, co-opting Ferrari’s unique styling of yesteryear.

Of course, the new 488 Pista is the latest model that’s getting Ferrari’s award-winning turbo-charged V8 and is set to pump out over 700 horsepower under the exquisitely-styled hood and body.

Only time will tell if Ferrari can stay the course and keep on the up in the absence of their recently deceased leader, Sergio Marchionne, but, when the announced plans have us this eager to see the form all these new models take, we think Ferrari will be just fine.

Peter Dinklage Referenced a Popular ‘Game of Thrones’ Theory in His Emmys Speech and Fans Are Losing It

Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister

Game of Thrones actors really know how to tweak their fans. Peter Dinklage, aka Tyrion Lannister, may have used his speech for winning the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama to do just that.

As he accepted the award, Dinklage thanked co-star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, calling him “My brother from another.”

That’s the hint. A longtime fan theory that attempts to resolve one of the many mysteries buried in the show’s various plot threads is that Dinklage’s Tyrion is a Targaryen.

If he is, then his character will satisfy the Three Headed Dragon prophecy as one of three Targaryens jockeying dragons on the battlefield. If Tyrion is indeed that Targaryen, Jaime Lannister would be his half-brother.

Unlike the show itself, it’s really that simple. However, as mentioned above, GoT actors do seem to share a mischievous streak, dangling tantalizing threads of innuendo and rumor in various interviews without ever really springing a leak.

As usual, we won’t really know till 2019, and the fans will keep hanging onto every thread for dear life until then.

Seth Rogen Tweets Amazing ‘Duck Hunt’ Secret That’s Blowing Everyone’s Mind

Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd’s characters game in “The 40-Year-Old Virgin”.

Remember Duck Hunt?

When the light gun shooter was first released on the NES way back in 1984, it gave players the opportunity to prey on virtual fowl for hours on end while the fabled—and patently annoying—”Laughing Dog” mocked any missed shots.

Fast-forward nearly a quarter-century, and Seth Rogen has dropped a game-changing factoid that many aren’t aware of—even if they owned a copy of Duck Hunt

“Hot tip that’s 25 years late but I didn’t have Twitter back then,” Rogen wrote. “In Duck Hunt on Nintendo, the second player controller controlled the duck.”

Yes, Duck Hunt is a two-player game.

“Me and my sister found this out because I sat on the controller by accident and the duck kept flying to the top right corner,” Rogen explained in a response to his original post.

He even verified the mind-blowing claim by tweeting a photo of game’s manual.

“One player is the hunter. The other player controls the ducks horizontally and vertically with the controller pad, trying to avoid the hunter’s shots until the sky color changes.”

Apparently, very few of his followers ever bothered to read the instructions. A bewildered Brie Larson responded with the word “WHAT” and an exploding head emoji.

Comedian and Parks and Rec actor Ben Schwartz took the news especially hard, tweeting “I feel sick…”

Others reflected and reminisced about their youth spent playing Duck Hunt.

There’s still a lot of love for Duck Hunt out there. And since you’re probably already brimming with nostalgia for the retro game, here’s nearly an hour of original gameplay.

This Emotional Anthony Bourdain Commercial Was The Best Thing About The Emmys

Anthony Bourdain was posthumously honored in a touching Balvenie Scotch commercial that elicited an emotional response from fans during the 2018 Emmys.

Before he tragically died earlier this year, the renowned chef, television host and author starred in Raw Craft, a 14-episode web series created by the historic Scotch brand that celebrates various craftspeople across America.

“If you feel in your heart, if you know, if you have reason to believe that you could be awesome at something—that you can do something unique that will shock and astound and terrify and bewitch people—do that,” Bourdain says.

“And so you did,” a response message reads. “We’re proud to have shared the journey.”

While some felt that the somber 30-second ad was in poor taste, others admitted that it brought them to tears.

The last trailer for the final season of Parts Unknown was also released yesterday. CNN’s W. Kamau Bell reflects on what it was like following the award-winning travel show’s legendary host through Kenya.

“Tony has made some of the best television in the history of television,” the United Shades of America host says in an interview filmed after Bourdain’s death.

“It was the most compelling, smartest…I really felt like a passenger and just wanted to be present for it and I didn’t want to suck, because that was my overwhelming feeling, like ‘Don’t screw up his show.’”

“Anyone who had dreams of traveling with Tony, it’s exactly as cool as you think it is,” he added.

The Kenya episode will be the first of season 12 and the only one completed with Bourdain’s signature narration.

“As soon as the camera turns off, and the crew will be sitting around, we’ll be having a cocktail, I fucking pinch myself.” Bourdain tells Bell in a behind-the-scenes moment. “I cannot fucking believe I get to do this.”

A final statement from Bell concludes the trailer.

“I feel a tremendous responsibility to learn the lessons that I learned when I was with him, to deepen the work that I’m doing, and to prove him right to want me to be on an episode of Parts Unknown.”

The final season of Parts Unknown premieres Sunday, September 23 at 9 p.m. EST.

Brie Larson Makes Her Superhero Debut in the First Thrilling Trailer For ‘Captain Marvel’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe had a huge year with Black Panther, Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp making splashes at the box office and progressing the MCU storyline to its climax.

We still have a way to go though and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and a few old friends are here to bridge the gap to Infinity War’s resolution.

In case the Blockbuster Video cameo didn’t give it away, Captain Marvel is set in the 90s, an era when a young Agent Coulson and a not-yet-patched Nick Fury are in the thick of a pre-corruption SHIELD.

It appears to be every bit of an origin story for Captain Marvel herself, showing the transition from rough and tumble girl to pioneering jet pilot to the superhuman, quantum-bending hero who’ll prove to be the key in the MCU heroes’ retaliation against Thanos’ universe-balancing finger snap.

Captain Marvel is slated for release two months before the second part of Infinity War (whose official title remains under wraps…for now.) While Larson and Jackson are definitely the focus here, supporting roles by Jude Law, Gemma Chan and Djimon Hounsou, listed as reprising his role from the original Guardians of the Galaxy flick, all help round out the cast.

We can’t wait to see one of Marvel’s best female characters finally get the story she deserves and, most importantly, throw down some quantum bending powers that’ll help all of our favorite heroes get out of their current pinch.

Captain Marvel is in theaters March 8, 2019.

8 Handbags We’ve Got Our Eyes on for Fall

We talk about trends a lot on Who What Wear, so you may be surprised to know that—on occasion—we’ll intentionally opt out of them. Before you go and raise your brows or peruse our Instagram feeds in search of proof to the contrary (we’re onto you!), hear us out: We wear our bags daily and admittedly put them through a lot, so we’re always on the lookout for quality bags that’ll stand the test of time as trends come and go.

I’m Wearing These Trends 6 Months Early

When it comes to the runway shows during fashion month, I always walk away feeling inspired and ready to add some new trends and pieces to my wardrobe. New York fashion week this season was no exception. Though I didn’t attend IRL, I kept a focused on on Instagram and Vogue.com to watch all of the established designers and new talent to see what unfolded. My phone is now cluttered with screenshots and notes about everything new in the world of fashion that I’m ready to embrace.

The problem with all of this, though, is that I’m ready to start wearing some of my favorite new fashion trends now—and I don’t want to wait around for six months for them to arrive in stores. Some brands have “see now, buy now” collections, but they’re still in the minority, so what this usually means is that I end up interpreting the trends in my own way.

Ahead, I’ve carved out some of my favorite trends from New York fashion week and paired them with shopping pieces to wear now to tap into them.

The Row has a perfect transitional style to wear now and into the fall season.
Monochrome dressing at its best.
The perfect silhouette for fall.
This style is printed with the brand’s logo.
You can recreate this with any silk scarf.
The perfect companion to fall’s puffy sleeve dresses.
You can pre-order this style from Brock Collection’s recent runway show.
How dreamy are these?
Crystals are another cool alternative to feathers.
To wear with jeans or a pencil skirt.
Brb, ordering this now.

The French Underwear Trend That Makes Your Legs Look Way Longer

“The newest trend in underwear is definitely the high-cut French brief.” Boom. You heard it heard it here first courtesy of Sandra Rose, Journelle’s head of product development, a.k.a. the woman in charge of knowing what’s new and next in the underwear space for one of the U.S.’s most-loved lingerie retailers. There are a couple reasons to get on board with the trend. My primary motive: the style of underwear makes your legs look way longer. “With the band sitting at your natural waist, it gives you legs for days!” says Rose. Jennifer Zuccarini, the founder of Fleur du Mal agrees, “High-cut styles elongate the line of your leg and emphasize your waistline because they sit higher, on a smaller part of your waist, than say a hip-hugger style.” Another plus of the high-cut underwear trend is, “with a higher rise, they are less likely to bunch when you’re wearing high waisted pants and skirts,” says Rose.

As for where the re-emergence of the high-cut French brief trend came from, Zuccarini attributes it to Instagram it-models like Kendall, Bella, Gigi, and EmRata, as well as ‘90s supermodels for bringing this style back. A group of people I wouldn’t mind associating with. Just like any trend, “it takes time and the right people wearing it again and again, for people to adopt a new look like this,” says Zuccarini. Since the look has been gaining steam for a moment, the time is now to hop on the high-cut underwear trend. To help you with that aim we rounded up the best options along with some visual inspiration to get started.
