This Solar-Powered Superyacht Could Cruise the Ocean Forever

The SolarImpact Yacht could very well be the most luxurious EV ever made.

The superyacht concept is the result of five years of research, design and testing by the Zurich-based company.

It boasts nearly 2,400 square feet of living space, including a 1,000 square-foot salon offering 360-degree panoramic views. Four double guest cabins and a master suite provide sleeping accommodations for 10 people, according to Boat International.

A gas-powered vessel of this size would leave a sizable carbon footprint, but all systems aboard the SolarImpact Yacht—including a quiet electric power plant—use the sun as their primary energy source. It’s extremely eco-friendly and never needs to stop for fuel.

Even at its relatively brisk 25 mph top speed, the 70-ton, 1,300-horsepower watercraft maintains stability thanks to a unique flotation system. Instead of the displacement-style hull typically found on large ships, it floats on two aluminum buoyancy bodies that reduce rolling, rocking and heeling by 90 percent. The pontoon-like design also cuts back significantly on energy consumption.

Amazingly, SolarImpact claims that the behemoth can be operated by just one person, as artificial intelligence is implemented in all important systems.

Iskra Lawrence Shares Stunning Bikini Pic for a Surprising Reason

It’s easy for many to look at models of all shapes and sizes and think, “I wish I looked like that.” Everyone does it at some point, and it’s normal.

British stunner and Aerie spokesmodel Iskra Lawrence wants her fans to know that sometimes this isn’t good for anyone’s mindset.

She posted a candid Insta of herself in a black bikini and in her caption, addressed the issue directly.

I read one of your comments yesterday that said “if I looked like her all my problems would go away”. Maybe it was said in jest but thoughts turn into consciousness, and in turn can start to affect our mindset, outlook, and how we view ourselves. Which in turn will eventually be your reality – I used to think like that. I’d look at pictures of slimmer models that were highly successful and believe if I looked like them (including the unrealistic photoshop) that I would also have a more successful career, love life, I’d be happier and life would be better.

But those thoughts only lead to your own dissatisfaction with yourself, your body and your life.(For me this lead me to have body dysmorphia and an ED and I’m grateful I was able to recover and become the woman I am today, who knows my self worth.) When in reality, you can never be someone else.

But no one can ever be you either. And that makes you one of a kind, so never forget you are meant to be you. Give your energy to embracing who you are and what you can bring to the table and to others and to this world, by being you.

Because God made you you for a reason, so let your unique self shine and radiate love, confidence and enoughness.

“Enoughness” is a great word, if you think about it.

Iskra Lawrence

This is an unusually honest admission even from a woman whose modeling career has always been marked by straightforward body positivity and self-acceptance.

Lawrence mentioned ED (eating disorder) and that’s a sadly common problem for people who make a living with their bodies—models and actors alike.

But so is body dysmorphia, a psychological disorder in which the sufferer becomes convinced their body isn’t perfect and will sometimes starve themselves or exercise to excess.

You have to respect Lawrence for her concern for others. It’s good she’s come around to self-acceptance though. She obviously looks incredible just the way she is.

The FDA is Waging an Anti-JUUL Campaign Because People Literally Can’t Stop Vaping

With its growing popularity, vaping has become so popular among teenagers that the FDA has officially declared that it’s reached “an epidemic proportion” and announced that it’s shifting the focus of its anti-tobacco campaign “The Real Cost” from cigarettes to vaping.

With the tagline “Know the Real Cost of Vaping,” the FDA is coming out with social media posts, online ads and interactive websites, and posters to be hung up in school bathrooms to warn these young JUUL-lovers about the dangers of nicotine addiction and the potential health risks associated with vaping.

In a press release, FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said:

E-cigarettes have become an almost ubiquitous – and dangerous – trend among youth that we believe has reached epidemic proportions. This troubling reality is prompting us to take even more forceful actions to stem this dangerous trend, including revisiting our compliance policy that extended the compliance dates for manufacturers of certain e-cigarettes, including flavored e-cigarettes, to submit applications for premarket authorization.

The new campaign we’re announcing today seeks to snap teens out of their ‘cost-free’ mentality regarding e-cigarette use with powerful and creative messages that reach kids where they spend a lot of their time: online and in school. In particular, these compelling prevention messages will be displayed in high school bathrooms, a place we know many teens are using e-cigarettes or faced with the peer pressure to do so.

This anti-smoking campaign is reminiscent of D.A.R.E., a.k.a. Drug Abuse Resistance Education, which is basically the anti-drug program that doesn’t exactly work…so who knows if this campaign is going to do anything. Considering the fact that millennials literally vape Tide Pods despite clear warning labels emphasizing how dangerous it is to ingest laundry detergent, I’m not entirely hopeful.

And while vaping might be a less harmful alternative to smoking regular cigarettes, but it’s still not good for you. It’s always the healthiest option to inhale clean, normal air instead of a mango-flavored JUUL pod, but you do you.

“Even as we consider the potential benefits of innovative tobacco products and the role that some such products may play in reducing harm to current adult smokers, the FDA won’t tolerate a whole generation of young people becoming addicted to nicotine as a tradeoff for enabling adults to have unfettered access to these same products,” Gottlieb said.

Floyd Mayweather Rumored to Have Gambled Away $50 Million in 2017

Floyd Mayweather shocked boxing fans last weekend when he said he wants to come out of retirement for a Manny Pacquiao rematch and reprise one of the most boring megafights ever. Now rumor has it that “Money” is motivated to recoup a staggering $50 million in gambling losses.

The 50-0 boxer didn’t hide his intentions when he shared footage of a staged confrontation with the Filipino legend to Instagram.

“I’m coming back to fight Manny Pacquiao this year,” Mayweather wrote. “Another 9 figure pay day on the way.”

Why would Mayweather, 41, leave his ultra-luxurious lifestyle to return to the gym and get in fighting shape for a rematch that absolutely no one wants to see?

Well, Las Vegas “gambling sources” reportedly told IB Fantasy Sports that the man is “down over $50 million in gambling losses since 2017.” Who knows if this is even remotely true, but it could explain Mayweather’s surprise return to the ring for another glorified sparring session vs. a faded Pac-Man.

Even if that gossipy speculation is completely unfounded, the world’s highest-paid athlete certainly isn’t financially frugal.

Following his TKO of Conor McGregor, Mayweather bought a $25 million mansion and dropped another $18 million on a blinged-out timepiece dubbed “The Billionaire Watch” after collecting an estimated $275 million he made from the incredibly lucrative boxing/MMA crossover.

As Bro Bible notes, Mayweather does have a history of gambling, particularly on sports. He reportedly bet $96,000 on Colorado State and Notre Dame to cover point spreads last year, and that’s just the tip of the ice berg.

ESPN has further details:

[Mayweather bet] $1.1 million on Oregon -7.5 over Arizona State in October 2012, $800,000 on the Denver Broncos -7.5 over the New York Jets in October 2014, [and] $200,000 on the Golden State Warriors over the Houston Rockets straight-up in May 2015.

In May, he posted a picture of himself sitting in a jet with bundles of money, claiming that he bet on his buddy, point guard Isaiah Thomas, and the Boston Celtics against the Washington Wizards. Thomas scored 53 points, the Celtics won 129-119 in overtime and Mayweather ended up with cash on his lap

The 12-time boxing champion also won big at the poker tables in May.

Business Insider has further details:

During a recent “Ten Play Draw Poker” gambling session, Mayweather played $25 hands from a $20,000 buy-in.

He somehow managed to turn this into a $101,250 win before calling an attendant to confirm the score.

Even if Mayweather vs. Pacquiao II is all about money for the fighters, fans want to see it. And according a new LA Times interview with veteran boxing manager Sean Gibbons, it’s extremely close to being made.

“I’d say it happening is an ‘8’ on a level of 1 to 10,” Gibbons said. “After all of the uncertainty of the first fight — all the B.S. — people are seeking closure.”

“We get a chance for that here, ” Gibbons added. “No matter what some say, there’s a desire to see this again. People love sequels.”

Would you pay to watch Mayweather-Pacquiao II?

The Upcoming Playstation Classic Could Be Sold Out by Christmas

The Playstation Classic is officially back in action and bringing 20 legendary PSX games with it.

Taking a cue from Nintendo’s always-out-of-stock NES Classic and SNES Classic, Sony is tapping their 25-year-old first console for a comeback.

Launching December 3rd, the Playstation Classic seems to have taken its entire design straight from Nintendo’s playbook. We don’t mind at all, Nintendo knows how to do retro right and Sony is set to benefit from their example.

The PSX Classic will be miniaturized, includes two recreations of the original Playstation controllers, a USB cable to power the little guy and an HDMI cable for pumping it into your TV.

Sony has said the Classic will have 20 games but they haven’t been explicit about the entire list…yet. What we know so far is that they’ve included Final Fantasy VII, Tekken 3, Ridge Racer Type 4, Wild Arms and Jumping Flash.

We’re as eager as you to find out what other games are included in the 20 but we will say that if Crash Bandicoot isn’t included, Sony will have screwed up in an unforgivable way.

As much as Sony seems to be copying Nintendo here, the one major difference we’re expecting is that Sony has never come up short on supply the way Nintendo consistently has regarding their classic consoles.

Sure, the Playstation Classic is coming just in time for Christmas so there’ll definitely be runs to get them—but restocks should be rare if Sony’s previous supply chain expertise is any indication.

The Playstation Classic is set to retail for $99.99 and you can pre-order right now at Best Buy and Gamestop

Here’s The Victoria Beckham Way to Wear Fall’s #1 Trend

It’s been quite the week for Victoria Beckham, who celebrated the 10th anniversary of her eponymous line with a stunning runway show and afterparty. With London Fashion Week well underway, we’ve already spotted so many noteworthy street style moments from our ultimate British style muse. But no matter the occasion, VB never strays far from her signature polished aesthetic—yes, even when she’s wearing the season’s biggest trend pieces.

It should come as no surprise that leopard print has completely gone viral this fall, but true to form, Beckham reimagined the ubiquitous print in the most “her” way ever, that is to say, utterly sophisticated. She wore a shirt dress from her own fall 2018 collection with an abstracted leopard print that stands apart from every other animal print piece on the market right now. It was her accessories, though, that made the entire look pop: she carried a boxy turquoise clutch under her arm and married it with a coordinating pair of bright pumps.

We’ll be over here duly taking notes on her sophisticated approach to the trend but meanwhile, scroll down to see how she nailed it and shop leopard print pieces with Victoria Beckham’s stamp of approval.
