Colin Kaepernick Attorney Hints That Two NFL Teams Want To Sign Him Soon

Love him or hate him, news about controversial former 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick is rarely boring. This time it’s also the kind of news that might piss off his haters in a huge way.

TMZ posted a video Wednesday featuring Mark Geragos—Kaepernick’s celebrity attorney. Geragos certainly hinted his client is poised for a comeback, with at least two major teams considering bringing him on board.

If you’ve been living under a rock the news might be meaningless. But it’s a big deal, given that Kaepernick became persona non grata to the NFL two years ago after he began kneeling during the national anthem to draw attention to police abuse of young black men.

The level of controversy sparked by Kaepernick’s protest makes the teams Geragos hinted at surprising.

Claiming he couldn’t name-drop due to attorney-client privilege, Geragos nevertheless gave some pointed hints that might be obvious to anyone who closely follow news about the NFL:

“If Al Davis was still alive—that’s all I’m gonna say.”

Al Davis was the co-owner and general manager of the Oakland Raiders for 39 years and he died seven years ago.

Geragos also asked the TMZ correspondent if he knew “who Meek Mill was visited by when he was in custody.” That was Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots.

The inescapable conclusion, of course, is the Raiders and the Pats are, at minimum, curious.

Of course, Kaepernick hasn’t been quiet since he left the 49ers.

He’s concentrated on philanthropy and activism and most recently, Nike unveiled a new ad campaign fronted by Kaepernick.

That campaign sent the company’s sales through the roof. And that was despite the fact many who have interpreted Kaepernick’s protest as being anti-American elected burn their Nike products on camera. See just one example below.

Mark Geragos has been representing celebs like Chris Brown and Michael Jackson for years. He knows how to court attention and probably enjoys it—but as an attorney he knows it’d be bad for him to hype without something backing it up.

There’s a good chance, then, that something’s up with Kaepernick. If we had to guess between the teams Geragos hinted at, we’d say the Raiders are more likely to sign him.

New England is characterized by the tight-lipped style of Bill Belichick and—especially after the Aaron Hernandez saga—a need to avoid drama of any kind. It’d be shocking to see Kaepernick end up there.

But who knows? Right now it’s just Kaepernick and his attorney. Whoever takes him, it’ll be big, controversial news.

Cary Fukunaga Directing Next James Bond Movie Slated For 2020

Looks like James Bond‘s signature Aston-Martin won’t be idling in the garage for much longer.

Following news that director Danny Boyle lost the gig over “creative differences,” it’s been announced that True Detective season one auteur Cary Fukunaga has stepped in to helm the 25th Bond movie.

Producers Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, and star Daniel Craig announced on Twitter that they had tapped Fukunaga, who also wrote the hit adaptation of Stephen King’s It, to direct Bond 25.

Production on the movie begins on March 4, 2019, at the U.K.’s iconic Pinewood Studios, which has hosted many classic Bond flicks, and it’s slated for a February 2020 release.

Despite famously agonizing about reprising his role as the martini-swilling super spy, Craig will in fact return for a fifth outing. He began his 007 tour of duty with 2006’s Casino Royale, and was widely praised as a major upgrade over Pierce Brosnan’s considerably less menacing Bond.

But still, after 14 years as 007, even playing the world’s most beloved imaginary secret agent could wear a guy down. (Though the insanely huge paychecks can’t hurt.)

Meanwhile, Fukunaga may not be a household name, but he’s long been seen as a virtuoso filmmaker. Aside from directing the gritty Idris Elba drama Beasts of No Nation, Fukunaga is best known for absolutely crushing the first season of HBO’s True Detective, which has never really reached the dizzying heights of the original season with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson (not to mention that legendary Alexandra Daddario topless scene.)

In case you missed it, here’s one of Fukunaga’s most talked-about scenes from the series:

So are you looking forward to Bond 25 or what?

Reese Witherspoon Made $55 Vans Sneakers Look Posh in the Rain

From a collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum to a partnership with Disney and Mickey Mouse, Vans has released plenty of cool collaborations recently if you’re looking to update your tried-and-true sneakers. Sometimes, though, the cult brand’s classic shoes are just what the doctor ordered, as was the case with Reese Witherspoon’s new outfit.

Photographed on a rainy New York City evening, Witherspoon made Vans’ perennially cool Old Skool Sneakers ($55) look chic with an all-black look. When in doubt, go monochrome—it’s the easiest way to look put-together immediately. While you might be more inclined to wear Vans sneakers with jeans, a pair of trousers like Witherspoon’s is more polished and a bit unexpected. Scroll down to see her look and shop the shoes.

I’ve Flown Over 100,000 Miles This Year—Here’s My Airport Uniform

I recently hopped on a plane to Italy for a summer vacation and when I logged onto Delta to check out my frequent flier miles, I was surprised to see that I’ve racked up over 100,000 miles since last summer. My frequent stops at the airport have culminated from a few personal trips to Paris, London, and Rome and quick stops home from LA to Arizona, but also some business travel that took me overseas.

What has this meant for my travel wardrobe, though? It has resulted in plenty of practice in crafting the perfect airport uniform. To be honest, narrowing in on a great travel outfit has been something I’ve wanted to master. In the past, I’ve often found myself regretting some of my fashion choices. Stiff jeans might look great but after a few hours, they start to feel uncomfortable. The same thing goes for small bags that aren’t roomy enough to fit my in-flight essentials.

After a year spent in airports and on planes, I’ve finally come up with the perfect airplane outfit. It’s a combination of ideas I’ve borrowed from celebrities like the always stylish Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and fashion lessons I’ve learned after some trial and error. Ahead, I’m breaking down the airport uniform I swear by.

I wore this outfit on my recent flight to Italy and realized that I finally figured out a winning travel look.
Isabel Marant always designs a great menswear-inspired blazer.
Wear this to tap into French-girl style.
I own this style and it’s become my favorite thing to wear to the airport.
Re/Done is known for their denim, but also their perfectly-cut T-shirts.
I typically go for a boxy fit.
This style is finished with rolled cuff sleeves.
Straight leg jeans are my standard.
I’ve been wearing lighter washes more and more.
But I also love wearing black wash jeans.
I own a similar pair of faux-croc boots and have been wearing them for years.
A block heel is key for making sure they’re comfortable.
I own this style and it fits all of my essentials.
I also think aluminum finishes are especially cool.
Rimowa is known for their durable bags.
Sleek and big enough to fit all of your travel essentials.
I own this bag and carry it nearly every day, as well as on flights.
A great affordable option.
