Often an investment and always a major focal point of an outfit: bags are important. So much so, in fact, that I decided it would be a good use of my time to sift through every day of every city’s street style from this past fashion month, to bring you the best purses, period. After all, I’m somewhat of a handbag hoarder collector myself. So, was it worth it? I’ll let you be the judge, but my guess is that after you see what I came up with, you’ll come to an indisputable yes, just as I did.

In case you’re new to my byline, a couple of fun facts about me.  1. I’m from Kansas and 2. I didn’t graduate college with a fashion degree. Yet right after college I landed my dream internship at Who What Wear and moved across the country to Los Angeles. Since then my wardrobe has certainly gone through a mini-makeover. Mainly because I had just landed my first job and needed to bulk up my “workwear” essentials and also because I was stocking up on everyday Cali classics like the perfect oversized denim jackets and pieces you can easily transition from day to night.

Earlier this year I shared the items from my Midwest wardrobe that I wouldn’t wear again but today I’m slightly shifting gears and highlighting the pieces I’d still wear to this day. I’m even sharing throwback photos from my pre-Los Angeles days so you can get a sense of what my style was like when I was living in Kansas. While I’ll admit some of the looks as a whole feel a little dated (rightfully so), the key pieces I’m pointing out though still feel timeless. Keep reading to see a snapshot of my Midwest style and to see which items from my high school and college days that I’d still wear again.

Living in New York is no walk in the park. Yes, New Yorkers walk in parks but getting there is no easy feat. Between the subways, crowded streets, and constantly fluctuating temperatures, doing anything in this city takes some serious gumption. The ’90s have come racing back into the spotlight recently, so much so that we’re declaring the entire decade to be more relevant today than it ever was before. Even looking into what It girls like Noami Campbell and Julia Roberts were wearing 20 years ago, their outfits look eerily similar to the ones you’d find all over Instagram in 2018. If you’re like many Americans, you’re probably gearing up for some travel for the Thanksgiving holiday. The long weekend in late November is one of the highest travel times of the whole year, so no matter where or how you’re going, preparation is key. When it comes to lingerie, there’s almost nothing harder to find than a perfect strapless bra. I can’t count the number of times I’ve sworn them off after spending an embarrassing evening hoisting them up (not chic) at weddings and other fancy ‘dos. But when you want to wear your favorite off-the-shoulder dress, what are the options? Now, you could just say go braless, but if you’re not exactly small-chested, this can pose a problem, not to mention it can leave you with quite the backache. The only other option?  Thanks to the abundance of shoulder-baring tops and low-back dresses around right now, I decided to go on a mission to find a decent strapless bra that would fit me without any embarrassing moments.
