5 Shoes on My Black Friday Shopping List

The day after Thanksgiving can go one of two ways for you: Either you spend the day napping at intervals from all the turkey you ate yesterday, or you wake at the crack of dawn to ambitiously go after all the Black Friday sales happening at your favorite stores. If you’re gearing up for the latter (which you probably are, given that you’re reading this), it’s all about preparation. Anyone who’s braved the crowds on this particular day in the past knows full well the extent of the shopping mayhem in store. We advise you don’t just walk into any old retailer and casually browse; instead, think ahead of time about the items you’re aiming to purchase so you’ll have a set list of things you’re looking for.

This year, I went ahead and created a Black Friday capsule shopping list and specifically focused on the shoes I’m after. I narrowed it down to five different shoe styles that I’ve deemed investment-worthy and, therefore, the styles that are worth hunting down during massive Black Friday sales. From the underrated (but timeless) sneaker style to the ankle boot trend with the most staying power and some The Row–inspired strappy sandals, the following shopping list includes all the styles I’m shopping for first this year.

Ready to prep for the biggest shopping day of the year? Keep reading to discover which shoes are on my capsule shopping list, and then (you guessed it) shop the exact shoes I’m currently eyeing.

This timeless style won’t soon be “out.”

Classic and cool.

Now you’re all set to strategize your Black Friday shoe purchases this year.

I Asked All the Cool Fashion Girls About Their Best Purchases Ever

We follow dozens of cool fashion girls on Instagram, and whether they’re jetting off to fashion weeks around the world, traveling on vacation, or simply sharing their latest street style moment, they’re always a source of style inspiration. They’re constantly on top of the latest trends and are the first to wear the buzziest new designers before the rest of us, so it’s easy to imagine that they never wear the same thing twice. But just because they test out new styles all the time doesn’t mean they, too, don’t have a few key investment purchases they wear on repeat.

I asked 10 of the coolest fashion girls to share the items they consider to be their best purchases ever. These are the items that, no matter how many new pieces they add to their wardrobes, have stood the test of time and proved to be more than worth it. From the Balenciaga ankle boots they wear with everything to timeless jewelry and the statement outerwear they’ll be wearing every day for the next five months (because winter), you can expect to see the following items all over their Instagrams for seasons to come. Keep reading to see and shop the pieces that define blogger fashion for these 10 cool girls.

We Have Amazing News to Share!

Today we announced Bare Necessities has been acquired by Walmart. We couldn’t be more excited about this news.

Over the past two decades, we’ve built a talented team and strong business focused on all aspects of intimates, including what we are known for most…helping women everywhere find the perfect bra. That mission, and our team, will not change. In fact, joining forces with Walmart provides the opportunity to help even more women discover the intimates they are looking for.

You may be wondering: “Why Walmart?” Walmart has done a lot over the past year to establish itself as a destination for fashion, from acquiring specialty retailer and digitally native brands, to aggressively expanding its fashion assortment. As we began conversations with their team, we realized how much we had in common around customer commitment, and that we could do even more if we combine our expertise in intimates with Walmart’s deep resources, scale and relationships.

None of this would be possible without the millions of customers who have supported us along the way (you!). Here’s our promise – the shopping experience you know us for won’t be changing. (Don’t worry – our Bra Fit Experts will still be on call). In fact, this is just the beginning and it’s only going to get better.

We are for everybody and every body…and we can’t wait to take that to the next level with Walmart.

The Boots Important Fashion People Have Been Wearing Forever

Anyone who has ever watched Friends will know that you have to be very careful when investing in a pair of knee-high boots. One wrong move and you can end up like Monica Geller, piggy-backing barefoot after wearing an ill-fitting pair for too long.

Most boots look better with heels than with flat soles, however, this means they can result in a lot of hobbling and blisters, dramatically bringing down that cost per wear. Get a new pair of boots right, though, and you can wear them every day and with every outfit (maybe Monica was right about spending a little more on an investment pair). Knee-high boots are a classic that won’t go out of style, so it’s no wonder we’ve spotted so many winning pairs on influencers this season.

Affordable retailers like Mango and & Other Stories have created some headlining heels, meanwhile, on the luxury end, we are most taken aback by the boots from Saint Laurent, Gianvito Rossi, and Acne Studios. In terms of styles, you can never go wrong with a black leather pair. However, burgundy, white and buttery cream leather pairs are just as chic. Snakeskin boots might seem like a very 2018 fad, but even Anna Wintour has been wearing her animal-print boots for years—proving these aren’t just a “wear for one season” mistake. Keep scrolling to see and shop our favorite knee-high boots.

Style Notes: We love how these black glossy knee-highs look over a pair of classic blue jeans.
Style Notes: Lisa Aiken wears Mango’s white knee-high boots underneath a checked, pleated skirt.
Style Notes: Snakeskin-effect boots have long been an Anna Wintour signature, and we love how Tiffany paired hers with a mustard dress.
We spotted these several times at fashion week.
These are quickly selling out…
Leather and suede boots in one.
A classic pair you’ll have for decades.
& Other Stories’s shoes are arguably the best affordable pair.
An Anna Wintour signature.
It doesn’t get any more classic than these.
The chunky heel looks really expensive.
These would look amazing with a simple black pencil skirt.
We would style these with a full tonal look.
The lower heels make these a good everyday option.
The Lous are one of the It boots of the season.
These have been a hit with the influencer crowd.
Croc-effect accessories are really popular this season.

‘Game of Thrones’ Star Could Be the Next James Bond

Richard Madden; Daniel Craig as Bond

Richard Madden played Robb Stark, the King in the North, on Game of ThronesHe was one of the main characters until Stark’s brutal death (Thrones doesn’t have any other kind of death) in season three.

So, to be fair, the guy has been out of the Thrones picture for a while and acting up a storm in the UK and elsewhere. He’s been doing such a good job, there are credible reports he’s in line for one of the biggest roles any English actor could play: James frickin’ Bond.

Yeah, this guy (Daniel Craig as Bond)

Since it became clear that Daniel Craig was moving on after the upcoming Bond film, rumors have been flying about where the movie franchise might go with its lead role. Would it go to Superman Henry Cavill? Perhaps even ridiculously charismatic Idris Elba?

It won’t go to a woman, though—producer Barbara Broccoli made that clear.

Richard Madden as Robb Stark

So here we are with Madden, whom the Sun reports has made a powerful impression on Broccoli with the title role in the UK TV drama Bodyguard

The Sun quoted an unnamed source close to Broccoli, who said Madden is a “serious” candidate for the role. “Not only is he on top of Barbara’s list,” said the source, “but she is preparing to offer the role.”

James Bond rumors are a dime-a-dozen, so this should be taken with a grain of salt. Every actor mentioned with a possible future as 007 has seemed like a plausible choice and so far there’s nothing definitive about any of them taking the role.

No matter who plays Bond after Craig, we’ve still got one more round to go with him in the title role. The 25th Bond film premieres on February 14, 2020.

Size Really DOES Matter When It Comes to Male Fertility

Here’s the question of the century: Does size really matter?

Well, when it comes to sexual pleasure, many women say no, because it’s more about the way you work it and how attractive you are than how big your penis is.

But according to new research presented this week at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine conference in Colorado, the answer is yes; size does matter…when it comes to fertility.

Apparently, men who aren’t too well-hung also tend to have more problems with fertility compared to men who are well endowed.

The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, recruited over 800 participants from a sexual health clinic and tracked them for three years.

The results revealed that men who struggle with infertility have, on average, a penis that is one centimeter shorter than those who don’t have reproductive issues. To be more specific, the average penis length was found to be 12.5cm (4.9 inches) for infertile men, and 13.4cm (5.3 inches) for fertile men.

“It may not be a striking difference but there was a clear statistical significance,” says head researcher Dr. Austen Slade.

Slade believes the reason for the relationship between a shorter penis size and infertility is likely due to underlying problems, such as hormonal disturbances or imbalances, or problems in the testes, which can lead to smaller penile length.

However, he also assures everyone that if you have a smaller peen but are otherwise completely healthy, there’s nothing to worry about.

“This is the first study to identify an association between shorter penile length and male infertility,” Slade says. “It’s possibly a manifestation of congenital or genetic factors that predispose one to infertility. For now, men with shorter penises don’t need to worry about their fertility.

“It remains to be determined if there are different penile length cut-offs that would predict more severe infertility,” he concluded.
