Verizon’s 5G home internet service is now live in four US cities

Verizon announced it was working to bring 5G home internet service to a few US cities last November, and opened up pre-orders last month for residents to sign up. The company’s made good on their promise to launch the service on October 1st, and installations are starting today for residents in Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, and Sacramento. Customers will be able to access typical Wi-Fi speeds around 300 mbps and peak speeds up to 1 Gbps.
As part of its rollout, Verizon is offering three months of its 5G Home service for free, which will then cost $50 a month for existing Verizon customers, and $70 for non-Verizon customers. The company is also offering a free Chromecast or Apple TV 4K, and three months of YouTube TV. The service…
Google launches repair service for your aging Pixel phone

Google is now offering a repair service for Pixel phones that are outside of warranty, reports Android Police. The service will eventually cover all four Pixel phones (including XL versions), although the second generation handsets are set to be within warranty for at least another 12 months after Google extended their warranties in light of user complaints about their build quality.
The repair service (which currently only appears to be available in the US) requires you to enter the IMEI number of your device, at which point you can choose from various options to describe the problem that you’re experiencing with your phone. Microsoft is holding a Surface hardware event on Tuesday (October 2nd) in New York City, and a new leak reveals the company will announce a Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Pro 6. We’d been expecting Microsoft to refresh both these devices at the event, but we’d also been assuming the new hardware would come with modern USB-C ports. Germany site WinFuture claims that neither the Surface Laptop 2 or Surface Pro 6 will include USB-C ports.
Instead, Microsoft is said to be sticking with its trusted mini DisplayPort and Surface Connector combo for connecting to displays and charging the device.
