9 Clever Style Tips From the World’s Most Fashionable Women

When you think of the perfect outfit it likely has a handful of different components in the mix. Well-fitted separates. A dynamic color palette. Elements of proportion. And perhaps most importantly, a hint of personal flair by way of the styling. Whether it’s something as subtle as the cuff on a sleeve or a silky scarf knotted around the waist, these minute details tend to add up to make a big difference when it comes to composing a strong look. That’s why we set out to find inspiring, clever style tips that we can test drive this autumn. We headed to our happy place—street style—and sifted through images of our favorite fashion editors, influencers, and the like and found nine standout ideas we’re giving a go. I Track Model Style Like It’s My Job, and This One Has Exceptional Taste

On the subject of fashion week street style when it comes to the most authentic, inspiring looks I often find myself drawn to off-duty models more than anyone else. Not because they are six-feet tall, skinny, and have flawless hair and skin (oh, youth) but rather because they tend to be wearing outfits they’d actually wear in real life. In other words, they’re not necessarily being paid or gifted to wear products from different designers they work with and thus are assembling looks straight from their wardrobes. Bucket hats, platform creepers, tattered denim with chain belts, teeny tiny sunglasses—model style is uniqueness at its finest. You’re more likely to see an off-duty model in a cool vintage t-shirt than the season’s latest arrivals, and to me, that’s inspiring.

My latest model style crush is not new to the pack. Her name is Adwoa Aboah and she’s a British model who has served as the face for big-name brands including Burberry and Versace. She’s known for her colorful, flamboyant style, charming freckled face, and shaved head. Her street style has been included in countless fashion week roundups and beyond all of that, she is also a major force in the women’s movement. Her organization Gurls Talk is “a safe space to share and listen without any judgment or stigma.”

Suffice it to say, Aboah is one to watch. Scroll down for nine spot-on looks from the model and shop our picks to get her imitable style.

I Bought Fashion’s Biggest Trend Off Amazon for $4

Take a quick browse through our roundup of the best looks from New York fashion week and you’ll quickly see that bike shorts are one of the biggest trends worn to and from the shows. We first introduced the trend last season (thanks to Kim Kardashian repping the sporty shorts) and it’s slowly grown on everyone in the fashion industry. We even tested the trend for you a few months ago showing you how girls in Los Angeles and New York City style the biker look. So fast-forward to the streets of fashion week and you’ll see that fashion influencers have given in and found severs interesting ways to make the athletic shorts look incredibly stylish.

I myself finally gave in to the trend and purchased two pairs off amazon for $4. I’m heading to Milan this week for fashion week and have already planning several outfits around the leggings-style shorts. Stay tuned for how I wear the biker pants and in the meantime let us know how you’re wearing the trend using the hashtag #WhoWhatWearing on Instagram.

You Won’t Catch Fashion Girls Wearing These Shoes With Leggings

With the popularity of leggings, inevitably we’re all going to want to get a little creative with how we wear them. In many cases, that means thinking outside the box when it comes to footwear. We’ve already discussed what to avoid wearing with leggings in general, but what about the all-important subject of shoes?

Given leggings’ slim-fitting silhouette and casual nature, determining which shoes will best complement them can be a bit perplexing—which is where we come in. As editors, we’ve been noticing fashion girls in fewer and fewer of a handful of shoe styles, at least paired with their leggings. So, naturally, we’ve been taking notes on what they’ve been wearing instead. The legging trend is here to stay for the foreseeable future, so we might as well make the most of it and pair them with shoes that will keep things as stylish as possible, right?

With that, keep scrolling to find out which seven shoe styles fashion girls have pretty much stopped wearing with leggings, and shop the coolest shoe trends to wear with them instead.

These $35 Boots Have Over 1000 Positive Amazon Reviews

If you caught our fall trend report, you know that the western trend is definitely back in a big way this season. Chloé, Louis Vuitton, and Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini all showed different variations of the look on the F/W 18 runways, and we couldn’t help but take notice. That said, you don’t have to spend a pretty penny on designer versions to invest in the trend.

As Footwear News pointed out, there is a pair of super affordable cowboy boots on Amazon with over 1000 glowing reviews. Ringing in at just $35, the boots are by far the most approachable way to test-drive the western look for yourself—yes, even for commitment-phobes. Oh, and a selection of 10 different colors never hurts either. Scroll down to shop the shoes in question, as well as other cool cowboy boot options.

28 Brits to Follow on Instagram—Not Just for Fashion Week, But for Life

First and foremost, I’m going to quickly caveat the below list: the people included are very much tied to the UK, but as this country is such an incomparably great melting pot of nationalities, you’ll find that some of them are not born-and-bred Brits. So before the pedants out there get all fired up and DM me, let’s remind ourselves that Britishness is a vibe, people. And these people have the country’s eclecticism and unique outlook running through their veins (and extensive shoe collections).

We try to document as many of these wardrobes in depth as often as we can with our Best Wardrobes in Britain franchise, but there are closets out there we’re still yet to jump into. So, with London Fashion Week now in full swing, we thought it fitting to bring some names and faces to your attention. All are worth bookmarking for the duration of fashion month, but also way beyond. Keep reading to see the 28 Brits on Instagram that I always look to for style inspiration.
