Looks like James Bond‘s signature Aston-Martin won’t be idling in the garage for much longer.
Following news that director Danny Boyle lost the gig over “creative differences,” it’s been announced thatĀ True Detective season one auteur Cary Fukunaga has stepped in to helm the 25th Bond movie.Ā
Producers Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, and star Daniel Craig announced on Twitter that they had tappedĀ Fukunaga, who also wrote the hit adaptation of Stephen King’sĀ It, to direct Bond 25.
Production on the movie begins on March 4, 2019, at the U.K.’s iconic Pinewood Studios, which has hosted many classic Bond flicks, and it’s slated for a February 2020 release.Ā
DespiteĀ famously agonizingĀ about reprising his role as the martini-swilling super spy, Craig will in fact return for a fifth outing. He began his 007 tour of duty with 2006’s Casino Royale, and was widely praised as a major upgrade over Pierce Brosnan’s considerably less menacing Bond.Ā
But still, after 14 years as 007, even playing the world’s most beloved imaginary secret agent could wear a guy down. (Though the insanely huge paychecks can’t hurt.)
Meanwhile, Fukunaga may not be a household name, but he’s long been seen as a virtuoso filmmaker. Aside from directing the gritty Idris Elba drama Beasts of No Nation, Fukunaga is best known for absolutely crushing the first season of HBO’s True Detective, which has never really reached the dizzying heights of the original season with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson (not to mention that legendary Alexandra Daddario topless scene.)
In case you missed it, here’s one of Fukunaga’s most talked-about scenes from the series:
So are you looking forward to Bond 25 or what?

From a collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum to a partnership with Disney and Mickey Mouse, Vans has released plenty of cool collaborations recently if you’re looking to update your tried-and-true sneakers. Sometimes, though, the cult brand’s classic shoes are just what the doctor ordered, as was the case with Reese Witherspoon’s new outfit.
Photographed on a rainy New York City evening, Witherspoon made Vans’ perennially cool Old Skool Sneakers ($55) look chic with an all-black look. When in doubt, go monochromeāit’s the easiest way to look put-together immediately. While you might be more inclined to wear Vans sneakers with jeans, a pair of trousers like Witherspoon’s is more polished and a bit unexpected. Scroll down to see her look and shop the shoes.
I recently hopped on a plane toĀ Italy for a summer vacation and when I logged onto Delta to check out my frequent flier miles, I was surprised to see that Iāve racked up over 100,000 miles since last summer. My frequent stops at the airport have culminated from a few personal trips to Paris, London, and Rome and quick stops home from LA to Arizona, but also some business travel that took me overseas.
What has this meant for my travel wardrobe, though? It has resulted in plenty of practice in crafting the perfect airport uniform. To be honest, narrowing in on a great travel outfit has been something Iāve wanted to master. In the past, Iāve often found myself regretting some of my fashion choices. Stiff jeans might look great but after a few hours, they start to feel uncomfortable. The same thing goes for small bags that arenāt roomy enough to fit my in-flight essentials.
After a year spent in airports and on planes, Iāve finally come up with the perfect airplane outfit. Itās a combination of ideas Iāve borrowed from celebrities like the always stylishĀ Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and fashion lessons Iāve learned after some trial and error. Ahead, Iām breaking down the airport uniform I swear by.
When you think of the perfect outfit it likely has a handful of different components in the mix. Well-fitted separates. A dynamic color palette. Elements of proportion. And perhaps most importantly, a hint of personal flair by way of the styling. Whether it’s something as subtle as the cuff on a sleeve or a silky scarf knotted around the waist, these minute details tend to add up to make a big difference when it comes to composing a strong look. That’s why we set out to find inspiring, clever style tips that we can test drive this autumn. We headed to our happy placeāstreet styleāand sifted through images of our favorite fashion editors, influencers, and the like and found nine standout ideas we’re giving a go. From an unexpected piece to layer over your basic white tee to a downtown-inspired approach to wearing a blazer, scroll down to find out what outfit tricks we’re trying right now and shop our picks to, as they say, get the look.
Want more inspiration? Head over for our roundup of the best street style spotted at New York Fashion Week.
On the subject of fashion week street style when it comes to the most authentic, inspiring looks I often find myself drawn to off-duty models more than anyone else. Not because they are six-feet tall, skinny, and have flawless hair and skin (oh, youth) but rather because they tend to be wearing outfits they’d actually wear in real life. In other words, they’re not necessarily being paid or gifted to wear products from different designers they work with and thus are assembling looks straight from theirĀ wardrobes. Bucket hats, platform creepers, tattered denim with chain belts, teeny tiny sunglassesāmodel style is uniqueness at its finest. You’re more likely to see an off-duty model in a cool vintage t-shirt than the season’s latest arrivals, and to me, that’s inspiring.
My latest model style crush is not new to the pack. Her name is Adwoa AboahĀ and she’s a British model who has served as the face for big-name brands including Burberry and Versace. She’s known for her colorful, flamboyant style, charming freckled face, and shaved head. Her street style has been included in countless fashion week roundups and beyond all of that, she is also a major force in the women’s movement. Her organization Gurls TalkĀ is “a safe space to share and listen without any judgment or stigma.”
Suffice it to say, Aboah is one to watch. Scroll down for nine spot-on looks from the model and shop our picks to get her imitable style.
