Meghan Markle Subtly Debuted Her Baby Bump in Australia

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have officially landed Down Under for their two-week tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, and Fiji. Not only does today mark the first day of their first international tour, but it’s also Meghan Markle’s debut event since Kensington Palace confirmed that she and Prince Harry are expecting their first child together. We already learned that the new baby will be arriving in spring 2019, and we can’t wait to uncover more details about the mini royal.

In the meantime, we’ll be reveling in all of Markle’s sure-to-be-amazing looks on her tour, including the Karen Gee Blessed Dress ($1285) she wore today. Gee is an Australian designer, so we’re expecting Markle will include plenty more Aussie brands in her repertoire this month. Given that she’s scheduled to appear at over 20 events in the next couple weeks, something tells us this is only the tip of the iceberg. Scroll down to see her first outfit since confirming her pregnancy.

The Only Boot Trend That Matters, According to Anna Wintour

Anna Wintour is nothing if not a creature of habit. She’s a die-hard loyalist to her oversize sunglasses, Chanel red carpet looks, and Manolo Blahnik strappy shoes, all of which she’s been wearing on repeat for years. That said, she still likes to mix up her wardrobe with seasonal items, and every fall, she reliably reintroduces her favorite boot trend of all: knee-high leather boots with stacked heels.

In fact, she owns five different versions of the trend, and I couldn’t find a single photo of Wintour wearing any other boot style this season. She packed plenty of versions for fashion month, from the slouchy burgundy ones she wore to the Chanel show to the head-turning snakeskin versions she wore in London. Most recently, she wore classic tan boots to a tech event in San Francisco this week, proving that they’re versatile enough to work outside the street style bubble.

And in case you’re wondering, there’s only one Wintour-approved way to wear knee-high leather boots: with a printed midi-length skirt or dress, naturally. Other clothes need not apply. Scroll down to see five ways she’s worn the boot trend and shop the look at a variety of price points.

The Only 10 Items J.Crew Calls “Forever Classics”

Think of the last clothing item you bought. Did you buy it because it’s trendy or because you know you’ll still wear it 10 years from now? I love a good of-the-moment buy as much as the next person, but it’s never quite as regret-free as the classic, versatile pieces that are perennially stylish. (Sorry, “ugly” sneakers and bike shorts.)

J.Crew has dubbed 10 specific items “the new icons,” and you’d be wise to take stock of your closet to see if you’re missing any of these staples. “The forever classics that have stood the test of time—in closets and in culture,” the brand explains on its website. “These are the pieces that never ever go out of style.” Luckily, all of these pieces are available at a wide range of prices from a slew of different designers, from Stella McCartney and Burberry to Mango and Uniqlo. Scroll down to see the 10 items J.Crew calls “forever classics.”

No One Except the Royals Would Wear These Outfits to Play Sports

To some of us, a “fancy” gym outfit is a Lululemon sports bra or a pair of Sweaty Betty leggings—but not for the royal family. In fact, some of them play cricket in stilettos and throw rugby balls in Chanel. A royal tour always involves at least one game of cricket, hockey, or football. However, the royals tend to sprint in their suiting rather than change into leggings, which makes for a rather hilarious archive of “royals playing sports” pictures.

The Duchess of Cambridge has played cricket in black stilettos and a red pencil skirt suit, hockey in three-inch knee-high boots, and rugby in Chanel tweed, and taken part in a netball (which is similar to basketball) game in a tailored blazer and wedges. There are more pictures of her playing sports in heels than sneakers. The Duchess of Sussex is already learning how to #TrainLikeARoyal, as earlier this year, she played netball in an Oscar de la Renta blouse, Altuzarra trousers, and ultra-high stilettos. Princess Diana might have worn cycling shorts and sweatshirts to the gym, but there are plenty of pictures of her running in her finest skirts and throwing balls in heels.
