Comcast has won an auction to acquire UK telecommunications company Sky, bidding $38.8 billion to overtake Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox after a lengthy bidding war this summer. Comcast’s win paves the way for it to acquire Sky and its 23 million European subscribers and entertainment assets. Sky’s shareholders will now need to approve the deal.

The New Air Jordan 33 Forecasts Nike’s Laceless Future

Nike’s latest Air Jordan model integrates a new laceless technology previously only available in their Golf Tour Premiere line.
The newly unveiled Air Jordan 33 is the first pair in MJ’s legendary line of basketball shoes to employ Nike’s FastFit system.
The traditional lacing procedure has been replaced with with a single forefoot strap that, when pulled, fully secures the shoe by tightening hidden cables. To release them, simply pull the fighter jet-inspired “eject cord” located next to the tongue.
“Applying FastFit allowed for a balance of art and science in the design,” designer Taylor Kuerbis said in a press release.
“It’s all very utilitarian, and the various elements and what they do are all clearly called out. Thinking about this led us to highlight the pull cord, eject cord and the inner workings of FastFit, and make the function integral to the aesthetic and graphic integrity of the design.”
As Gear Patrol notes, the 33’s also have a carbon fiber plate in the sole that automatically pushes wearers forward by absorbing and releasing energy. The New York Times confirmed that the feature works when they tested the Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4%.

‘Joker’ Origin Movie Reveals First Footage of Joaquin Phoenix in Clown Makeup
Looks like Joaquin Phoenix can pull off the creepy clown look after all.
Todd Phillips, who is directing the upcoming Joker origin movie, shared new footage of Phoenix as the film’s titular character in full greasepaint that he called “camera test (w/sound).”
The freaky footage comes only a few days after Phillips–director of the Hangover movies, War Dogs and Old School, shared an image of Phoenix without makeup.
Joker hits theaters in October 2019, and co-stars Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro, and Marc Maron.
