FIFA 19 comes out today on early access and gets a widespread release this Friday. Building on last year’s edition, it brings back the same great gameplay that’s a hallmark of the series

The game also adds new and different game modes, and those give players good reason to upgrade. 

FIFA 19 gameplay has been well-honed over decades of annual releases. It’s easy to complain that a game is stale when it doesn’t change from year to year. That may actually be the secret to FIFA’s success; anyone who’s played before can easily pick it back up and feel competent after just one half.

Make no mistake, FIFA 19 still rewards its legions of skillful players but the perpetually familiar feel of FIFA will always be one of its greatest assets. FIFA 19 is tuned up, polished, and has minor tweaks to its gameplay. As always, anything can happen in a head-to-head match.

To offset the largely unchanged gameplay, the FIFA franchise instead looks to game modes to keep things interesting. After major improvements to Ultimate Team, deeper complexity in Career Mode and the addition of the story-based The Journey campaign in previous iterations, FIFA 19 has set its sights on improving the most overlooked game mode of all; Kick Off.

Yup, the main mode, the one to jump into when friends are around before or after a night of drinking, Kick Off in FIFA 19 kicks all kinds of ass. That’s mainly because a quick game is now customizable with House Rules. Don’t want to play with penalties? Turn ‘em off. 

Only want to take long-range shots? Start winding up from outside the box. It’s crazy and different and insanely fun to play. It might be the best reason to own four controllers for your console of choice. The biggest downside—and this boggles the mind—is that you can’t play it online.

That wildly stupid choice aside (yeah yeah, EA has to save something for FIFA 20) this year’s FIFA really is an excellent game and a must-have for anyone who enjoys a damn fine sports simulator and fierce competition. 

It’s out now for those who pre-ordered the Champion or Ultimate edition. Everyone else can grab it when it’s widely released on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch on Friday, September 28th .

Ford has a self-driving electric semi-truck in the works, and it looks even cooler than Elon Musk’s commercial EV. 

The American automotive behemoth’s Turkish production base, Ford Otosan, unveiled the F-Vision Future Truck concept at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Germany last week. 

It may not have the Tesla Semi’s “Mad Max” mode, but its eye-catching lines and design take cues from Marvel superheroes. 

Fox News has further details: 

The F-Vision was inspired by Marvel characters, the automaker said, and the way they change and adapt to environments. The motif is most present in the glass line, which descends and increases the field of view for an operator inside the cab.

The semi’s adaptable nature also comes with the F-Vision front face. Ford said an “interactive front end” can display different designs and communication methods, but didn’t go into further detail. 

The F-Vision will have Level 4 autonomous driving capability, meaning that it will be able to make trips without any human intervention. In self-driving mode, the windshield will blend into the body to make the semi’s shape even more aerodynamic. 

Ford didn’t release any details about power output, top speed or other  technical specifications of their first-ever concept truck. It was revealed alongside the 492-horsepower F-Max tractor-trailer, which won the 2019 International Truck of the Year Award at the IAA event.

On Monday, Warner Bros. and DC announced that Birds of Prey, Margot Robbie’s Suicide Squad spinoff where she reprises her role as Harley Quinn, is set to open in theaters February 7, 2020.

Details of the plot are still under wraps, but what we do know is that the movie will focus on Harley Quinn as she pulls together a team of superheroes—including Huntress, Renee Montoya, and Black Canary, and Cassandra Cain—to go up against a villain who still remains unnamed.

Plus, we know this won’t be aimed at kids, because Robbie confirmed it’ll have an R-rating. 

Though no other casting has been announced yet, The Hollywood Reporter says A Wrinkle in Time‘s Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Underground‘s Jurnee Smolett-Bell, and Hidden Figures star Janelle Monae are some of the actresses being considered to play Black Canary, and for Huntress, the studio is testing The Leftovers‘ Margaret Qualley, 10 Cloverfield Lane‘s Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Cristin Milioti from How I Met Your Mother. 

Birds of Prey starts shooting in 2019 and will be directed by Cathy Yan. The script was written by Christina Hodson, making it a fully female-centric motion picture all around—though it will have a “much smaller budget” than other DC films.

In May 2018 Robbie told Collider in an interview that it was crucial for the film to have “a female director to tell that story,” and that it’s important to give a woman “the chance to do big budget stuff.” Luckily, all of that is finally happening. 

Birds of Prey will hit theaters just three months after Joaquin Phoenix makes his debut as The Joker, meaning those few months are going to be pretty epic for DC fans.
