Inside the Wild Story of How a Con Artist Infiltrated Leonardo DiCaprio’s Inner Circle

Leonardo DiCaprio and accused con man Jho Low

Leonardo DiCaprio is obviously living the dream. He’s one of the world’s highest-paid actors, stars in virtually any movie he wants, and, oh yeah, regularly dates gorgeous supermodels  half his age. But that doesn’t mean he’s immune from the guiles of a crafty con man who managed to infiltrate the actor’s inner circle.

In Billion Dollar Whale: The Man Who Fooled Wall Street, Hollywood, and the World, authors Tom Wright and Bradley Hope bring to light the amazing story of financier Jho Low, a Malaysian national who wormed his way into DiCaprio’s crew using millions—billions, in the end—in stolen money.

Even crazier? Low financed DiCaprio’s The Wolf of Wall Street.

So let that marinate a moment: A financier who basically bribed his way into rich and famous circles of acquaintances was a con man, and his con was funding a hit movie—about a con man.

It’ll give you a headache if you think about it too much.

What Low did isn’t too complicated to explain, though: he raided a huge fund set aside for Malaysian infrastructure projects and bought DiCaprio and other Hollywood players fine art and threw huge parties featuring up the likes of Kanye West.

Some of the high-priced gifts Low gave DiCaprio:

  • $3.3 million Picasso for his birthday as a late birthday present”, a
  • $9.2 million Jean Michel Basquiat collage, “Red Man One.”
  • The Best Actor Oscar Marlon Brando won for On the Waterfront.

Low charmed other celebs, including Paris Hilton, whom he paid up to $100k for her just to show up at a party.

Including DiCaprio many famous folks had to give up their insanely expensive schwag once the scam was revealed. Crazy enough, Malaysia wanted its money back.

DiCaprio has a love for grifters. He’s played so many. He must’ve found this funny on some level.

As for Jho Low? He’s currently on the lam, a wanted man. If he’s ever caught, he’ll surely make some money back on selling film rights to his story.

Paulina Gretzky Just Dropped A Major Clue About Her Relationship Drama With Dustin Johnson

Earlier this month, Paulina Gretzky, the daughter of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky and former Maxim cover model, suddenly deleted pictures of her fiancee, pro golfer Dustin Johnson, off her Instagram account, leaving many wondering if she was trying to send a message to the world that she’s single.

Johnson took to Twitter to address the issue a few days ago, and tweeted:

And finally, Gretzky broke her silence as well with a cryptic video posted to her Instagram Story, showing her listening to country singer Dustin Lynch’s “I’d Be Jealous Too” which has lyrics like “I’d be jealous too, if she was with you.” Hmm

This obviously further fueled the rumor that the couple is no longer together since that song could be interpreted to imply that somebody may have cheated, especially since reports surfaced that the whole fallout was possibly caused by “California socialite” Yassie Safai and Johnson getting a little too close.

According to the New York Post, Safai took to Instagram to deny any involvement in the model and the golfer’s relationship drama.

“I met Dustin Johnson at Sherwood Country Club. I have run into him at Sherwood maybe 4 times since then and yes briefly spoke with him, like I’m sure any avid golfer and member would,” she apparently wrote, but her account seems to have been deleted.

“I am sure he is a great person but we do not have a close friendship. I have never met Paulina Gretzky and do not know the Gretzky family, but again, I am sure they are great people.”

Well, until Gretzky and Johnson, who have been engaged since 2013 and have two kids, outright address what their status is, we can only speculate.

In the meantime, feel free enjoy these pictures of Paulina Gretzky, just because she’s absolutely stunning.

Colin Kaepernick Attorney Hints That Two NFL Teams Want To Sign Him Soon

Love him or hate him, news about controversial former 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick is rarely boring. This time it’s also the kind of news that might piss off his haters in a huge way.

TMZ posted a video Wednesday featuring Mark Geragos—Kaepernick’s celebrity attorney. Geragos certainly hinted his client is poised for a comeback, with at least two major teams considering bringing him on board.

If you’ve been living under a rock the news might be meaningless. But it’s a big deal, given that Kaepernick became persona non grata to the NFL two years ago after he began kneeling during the national anthem to draw attention to police abuse of young black men.

The level of controversy sparked by Kaepernick’s protest makes the teams Geragos hinted at surprising.

Claiming he couldn’t name-drop due to attorney-client privilege, Geragos nevertheless gave some pointed hints that might be obvious to anyone who closely follow news about the NFL:

“If Al Davis was still alive—that’s all I’m gonna say.”

Al Davis was the co-owner and general manager of the Oakland Raiders for 39 years and he died seven years ago.

Geragos also asked the TMZ correspondent if he knew “who Meek Mill was visited by when he was in custody.” That was Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots.

The inescapable conclusion, of course, is the Raiders and the Pats are, at minimum, curious.

Of course, Kaepernick hasn’t been quiet since he left the 49ers.

He’s concentrated on philanthropy and activism and most recently, Nike unveiled a new ad campaign fronted by Kaepernick.

That campaign sent the company’s sales through the roof. And that was despite the fact many who have interpreted Kaepernick’s protest as being anti-American elected burn their Nike products on camera. See just one example below.

Mark Geragos has been representing celebs like Chris Brown and Michael Jackson for years. He knows how to court attention and probably enjoys it—but as an attorney he knows it’d be bad for him to hype without something backing it up.

There’s a good chance, then, that something’s up with Kaepernick. If we had to guess between the teams Geragos hinted at, we’d say the Raiders are more likely to sign him.

New England is characterized by the tight-lipped style of Bill Belichick and—especially after the Aaron Hernandez saga—a need to avoid drama of any kind. It’d be shocking to see Kaepernick end up there.

But who knows? Right now it’s just Kaepernick and his attorney. Whoever takes him, it’ll be big, controversial news.
