Three is a trend, but we spotted at least six iterations of Tevas on the runways of New York Fashion Week. We think that makes for a certifiable craze.

While the return of practical, arguably “ugly” shoes is an old concept by now—Havaiana flips-flops, Crocs, and Birkenstocks have been in and out of rotation as well—it makes a strong statement when so many different designers agree on the same footwear to represent their new collections. For S/S 19, the message couldn’t have been clearer: Get yourself a pair of Teva sandals.

Luckily, like with the practical and polarizing shoe trends that came before it, we’re looking at a very low buy-in to try this trend for ourselves. The original two-strap Teva sandals cost $50. If you want something a bit bolder, the chunkier flatform pairs begin at $60 while the completely tricked-out pairs à la Area’s crystal ones are a bit more of an investment.

It’s no secret that fashion week runways typically employ models of a certain age—a young age. Catwalks across the globe from New York to London to Milan to Paris and beyond primarily feature women in their late teens to mid-twenties. While there are plenty of these ladies who we adore (Kaia Gerber, Taylor Hill, Binx Walton come to mind) we can’t help but long for representation of different ages. After all, these designers are selling to women at every age and most women who can afford designer clothing are generally more established in their careers and thus older. With this on the mind, we noticed a handful of fashion shows during New York Fashion Week that embraced age diversity and we immediately started taking note. As far as bridal wedding attire goes, it’s the wedding dress that gets the majority of the attention (as it should), but there are other things to think about that should be more than just an afterthought, e.g., your rehearsal dinner dress. The evening before the main event is usually more relaxed, so you can have a little more fun with your dress.

Many brides choose to stick with the white or blush theme, but others choose to think outside the box a bit and wear something blue, metallic, or even red. The most important factor when it comes to your rehearsal dinner dress is that you feel beautiful enough and it’s special enough to stand out, even if other attendees are wearing the same color or style of dress. 

Since few rules apply when it comes to choosing the perfect rehearsal dinner dress, it can be a bit overwhelming, so we took the initiative and found 21 dresses that would suit the momentous occasion beautifully.
