Citizen’s ‘Manly Yet Elegant’ Chronograph Watch That ‘Keeps Perfect Time’ Is Nearly $200 Off Right Now
Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
Watch lovers have been reveling in all of the great deals Amazon has been firing up on high-quality but very affordable watches lately. The retail giant has been bringing lots of discounted timepieces to the site from brands like Bulova, G-Shock, Seiko, and others, but there’s no brand with better deals right now than Citizen. While Amazon’s deals on Citizen watches run the gamut, the best one right now is on a classic chronograph that makes for an excellent daily driver, and it’s now under $200.
Citizen’s Garrison Eco-Drive Chronograph Watch is on sale for just $179, which is 52% off of the regular price of $375. This light-powered chronograph has earned over 500 five-star ratings from Amazon shoppers who say that the watch is “comfortable to wear,” “keeps perfect time,” and never needs a battery. Amazon also has a slightly more upscale Citizen on sale for under $250 if this one isn’t quite what you’re looking for.
Citizen Garrison Eco-Drive Chronograph Watch in Silver, $179 (was $375) on Amazon
This beauty from Citizen will be a great addition to your everyday carry loadout because of two main factors: It’s really handsome and it never needs a battery thanks to its Eco-Drive light-powered tech. But those features are just the icing on the cake—the watch also has a stainless steel 43mm case, three-hand analog display, three subdials, a date display, and is water resistant to 100 meters. The navy-and-black dial nicely contrasts the brown leather military-inspired strap. The Eco-Drive technology will charge the permanent lithium-ion battery using any light source, and it will even store surplus energy in the power cell so it can run for months, even in the dark.
Happy shoppers have been stunned by this watch’s good looks upon opening the box. “Day one of wearing it and I have had people compliment the watch already,” a shopper said. Another shopper noted the watch strikes a nice balance of “manly yet elegant,” a testament to its versatility.
Other satisfied customers marveled at the watch’s construction for the price. One shopper called it “a well-designed, accurate watch with a chronograph function at a reasonable price.” Another shopper summed it up by saying: “The watch looks big but is the perfect size—it is surprisingly light and not bulky.”
You can never have too many watches, and this chronograph is the perfect, inexpensive, and premium-quality watch to add to the collection. It’s lightweight, great-looking, and has the legendary Eco-Drive system that will keep it ticking for a long time without the need to change the battery—plus it’s almost $200 off, so pick it up soon before the massive discount disappears.

Mopar Unleashes All-Electric Plymouth GTX Muscle Car For SEMA
Looking at its drag strip pedigree, appearance as the apex ride in 2009’s Fast 8 and its continually in-demand status on the aftermarket, it’s clear that the Plymouth GTX fashioned a fine legacy in an extremely short lifespan—production only lasted from 1967 to 1971 and numbered just under 45,000 examples. The latest evidence of that legacy is a GTX’s upcoming appearance at SEMA 2024 over five decades after discontinuation. But this isn’t your neighborhood gearhead’s pet project.
For better (if you’re a fan of EV tech) or worse (if you’re a fan of HEMI V8s), the Plymouth GTX Electromod Concept is a pure EV. But like any good restomod, careful attention has been paid to honoring the styling of what was venerably known as “The Gentleman’s Muscle Car” in a way that makes it immediately recognizable to fans. However, refreshed details are evident upon closer inspection. That striking “Frostbite Blue” paint coat comes from the Dodge Challenger palette. The front splitter and low-profile spoiler are carbon fiber, and the body-colored bumpers have been shaved and tucked into the fenders.
The hood is a one-off featuring dual “functional air extractors” (not intakes), beneath which is a 400-volt, 250-kilowatt electric drive module (EDM) and a battery pack. Instead of NOS tanks in the trunk, there are three more battery packs enclosed in an aluminum frame, and the charging port is accessible via a classic flip-top fuel cap manufactured to 1960s/1970s-era spec. Output is approximately 335 horsepower, and driving range is an estimated 250 miles.
The blending of new and old continues inside, where the three-spoke steering wheel gets a racier flat-bottomed wheel finished in bronze and blue to match the door panels. The custom gauge cluster features a 160-mph analog speedometer, battery-charge level, instantaneous drive-motor current, and battery- and motor-coolant temperatures. Drive control goes through a skillfully integrated rotary shift knob from a Dodge Durango. There’s a production cupholder from the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and unlike in the original Plymouth GTX, there’s a large central armrest.
There’s a reason for all this other than “because we can.” Atop the EDM under the hood is a dual-charging module (IDCM), both of which have been envisioned as part of a potential future Mopar e-Crate propulsion system for enthusiasts to build or convert classic and current cars and trucks into BEVs. ICE sacrilege aside, who wouldn’t house this beauty in their garage?

11.1 Friday Faves
Hi friends! Happy Friday! How was Halloween? We got back home just in time to celebrate. The fam came over, I made some tacos, and we trick-or-treated around the neighborhood. It was low key and lovely; the perfect celebration after a whirlwind of Orlando adventures.
(On our cruise, 9 of us were Wizard of Oz characters. Please take a moment to appreciate the Pilot’s Lollipop Guild costume lol)
I have SO much to say about the trip (the Reimagining Health Summit and our Disney cruise) and will put everything together into some recap posts next week. My plan was to finish them on the plane but I ended up sleeping all the way home! I was completely zonked.
This weekend is going to be a lot of fun, too: it’s the Pilot’s change of command (after three years as commander, he’s done!), our school auction, and a big event for National Charity League. Here we gooooo. I’d love to hear what you have going on!
(Wanted to share some pics of the ofrenda I put together for this year’s Día de los Muertos. I wish I could keep it up all year!)
*Also a friendly reminder to VOTE! Election Day is the last day to vote but I’m going to go today after I pick up the crew from school.
It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party. This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about your faves, too, so please shout out something you’re loving in the comments section below.
11.1 Friday Faves
Fashion + beauty + random:
My lips have been super dry with the colder weather – Tucson went from 105 to 70 overnight – and this is my go-to lip balm.
J Crew is 30% off right now and I’m looking at these straight leg jeans.
This dress!! I got it from Rent the Runway for the awards dinner at the summit, and kind of want to keep it. Perfect to dress up for a classier event, a dinner, or even dress down for work. The fabric was so dreamy, too. In stock here in black.
Read, watch, listen:
Plucking my way through Outlive. It’s very good, and I love how thorough it is, but it’s verryyyyyy dry so far. I like when authors inject a little personality, wit or humor into their work, and this one is taking me forever. Definitely ready for some fluffy fiction after this one. 😉
What tattoo would you get? I’m definitely one and done over here… and honestly regret mine a little. I like it sometimes, but also wish I could remove it for fancier events. Usually my hair hides it.
Updating your life and career to match who you are now.
Fitness, health, life, and good eats:
These bars! They were out of stock for a while because EquiLife was sourcing a new baker… and now they’re back and the texture is even better. They’re soft and cake-like, with all real ingredients, and the kids love them, too.
The chocolate is my fave, but we all love the apple cinnamon as well. If you place an order here over $149, you get a box for free! I would do a detox kit to prepare for our January detox, a full-spectrum magnesium, and an extra container of Daily Nutritional Support (I have this every single day). My code is FITNESSISTA10 if it’s your first time ordering!
The Therasage weighted blanket. I don’t think I’ve ever given this one a proper shout out on the blog, but I LOVE this thing, especially in the colder weather. I’m the type of person who can’t sleep without a real duvet – I always ask for extra blankets when hotels have just sheets on the bed, and I pack my travel weighed blanket- and the extra weight helps me get better sleep at night. If you’re an anxious person, or find yourself tossing and turning, I can’t recommend it enough. This one has crystals instead of beads, and added EMF protection. Use the code FITNESSISTA for a discount!
It just stays on my side of the bed like this:
GLP-1 impact on muscle retention.
Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today!
xoxo
Gina
