NBA Twitter Explodes Over James Harden’s 45-Point Game vs. Celtics

The 76ers entered TD Garden on Monday night facing an uphill climb against the Celtics with MVP favorite Joel Embiid out with injury.

Philadelphia fans, have no fear: The Beard is here.

James Harden rose to the occasion and turned in a star performance, erupting for 45 points to stun the Boston crowd and lead the Sixers to a 119–115 Game 1 win. Harden made clutch plays throughout the second half, though none was bigger than his step-back, go-ahead three-pointer that gave Philadelphia a two-point lead with eight seconds remaining.

The scoring outburst tied a playoff career high for Harden, who made 17 of his 30 field goal attempts while shooting 7-for-14 on threes. He spearheaded a strong offensive showing from 76ers that enabled them to outscore the Celtics despite Boston shooting 58.7% from the floor as a team.

Harden became the fifth player in 76ers history to score 45 or more points in a playoff game. The others are Allen Iverson, Lee Shaffer, Wilt Chamberlain and Billy Cunningham.

The basketball world was stunned by Harden’s postseason brilliance, particularly considering the absence of Embiid. Check out the best social media reactions of the bunch below.

Met Gala Roundup: Here’s What Patrick Mahomes, Other Superstar Athletes Wore

A host of elite athletes from around the sports world descended upon New York City on Monday to celebrate the world of fashion and don some incredible looks in honor of the 2023 Met Gala.

Serena Williams, Patrick Mahomes, Dwyane Wade, Roger Federer and Brittney Griner were among the names adorning the star-studded guest list for this year’s edition of the fashion extravaganza. First established in 1948, the Met Gala is an annual fundraiser for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, which houses a variety of fashion collections.

For the 50th consecutive year, the much-anticipated event included a suggested theme attendees are encouraged, but not mandated, to abide by. This year, the theme, along with an exhibition inside the Met, was designed in memory of legendary German designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019 at the age of 85.

Titled, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” Monday’s grand stage served as a platform for the creative and the eclectic to strut their stuff. Needless to say, the event’s co-chairs, a group of five that included Federer and permanent co-chair Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, made it a night to remember for all in attendance.

Williams, who stole the show after announcing she’s pregnant with baby No. 2, graced the red carpet with husband Alexis Ohanian while Mahomes, the reigning NFL MVP, dazzled alongside wife Brittany. Wade made a statement with his wife Gabrielle Union and Griner dressed to impress alongside her wife Cherelle. Additionally, NBA stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Russell Westbrook, NFL star Stefon Diggs and freestyle skier Eileen Gu were on hand wearing head-turning outfits of their own.

With the ’23 Met Gala in the books, here’s a recap of what the superstar athletes wore in NYC Monday night:
