Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers will not play on Saturday vs. West Virginia but is aiming to return next week against No. 18 Oklahoma, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports.

Ewers suffered a clavicle sprain in Texas’ second game of the season vs. Alabama and has missed each of the last two games, despite dressing for both, and is expected to do the same against the Mountaineers.

Before he went down, Ewers was off to a strong start to the season with 359 passing yards and two passing touchdowns in around five quarters of football. Hudson Card has taken over as starter in Ewers’ place, and he has put up 620 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in four games this season.

However, the Longhorns are 2–2 on the season, including losses to both Alabama and Texas Tech in games primarily played by Card instead of Ewers.

If Ewers does return next week, it will be for his first taste of the Red River Rivalry. Oklahoma has had the upper hand recently, as Texas hasn’t beaten the Sooners since 2018 and only has one win since 2016.

Lee Corso wasn’t at the desk for that start of Saturday’s College Gameday show at Clemson, sparking some concern from fans of the beloved analyst and former coach.

However, the 87-year-old’s peers reassured viewers that he’s doing just fine.

Host Rece Davis revealed early in Saturday’s show that Corso woke up in the morning feeling “a little bit” under the weather. The rest of the crew made sure that he got checked out and he’s already feeling better.

“He’s feeling much better now, we’re happy to report,” Davis said. “Also happy to say that at one point, he told the doctors ‘Yeah, I feel this way because I said Clemson was overrated.’”

Kirk Herbstreit added: “He’s like ‘I’m never gonna talk bad about Clemson again.’ He’s in his typical Lee Corso sense of humor this morning.”

Desmond Howard also weighed in: “100%, we’re gonna miss him. His spirit is with us though.”

Corso, a former coach at Louisville (1969–72) and Indiana (1973–82), has been at ESPN since 1987. His tradition of donning mascot headgear for his predicted winner at the site of the weekly pregame show has become a staple of College Gameday for nearly the last three decades.

Though Corso won’t be on hand Saturday, the rest the crew will be present for No. 5 Clemson’s game against No. 10 NC State. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

On smartphone cameras, the Seattle Mariners, and disappointment

The iPhone 14 Pro has one of the best smartphone camera systems money can buy, but it still has its limitations. | Photo by Amelia Holowaty Krales / The Verge

There’s the smell of sizzling sausage, car exhaust, and late-season playoff hopes in the air on Tuesday night as I cross the street toward the stadium. I’m carrying a neon green Mariners fanny pack across my chest (that’s how the kids are wearing them, right?!?) loaded with the essentials: my ID, Kleenex, a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, and an iPhone 14 Pro. The roof of T-Mobile Park hangs open over the adjacent railway, looming like the Death Star, and I head toward an entrance with a few things on my agenda, in no particular order:

  • Cheer on the Mariners as they definitely hopefully please dear god end a 20-year playoff drought (Editor’s Note: They did, in fact, end the drought last night)
  • Collect the Mariners-branded flannel shirt my…
