PSG Ad Board Says ‘GOAT’ the Moment Lionel Messi Scores Free Kick

The Argentinian soccer star’s stunning free kick goal moved his career total to 60 in Saturday’s win over Nice.

As he’s done time and time again, Lionel Messi stepped up to take a free kick with eyes only on goal during Paris Saint-Germain’s match against Nice.

As the Argentine curled a screamer into the top corner, an interesting ad popped up pitchside at the Parc des Princes.

The word “GOAT” appeared all over the advertising board that surrounded the field, advertising for the popular apparel brand. But was it a coincidence that it popped up as soon as the player known by any as the greatest of all time stepped up to do what he does best?

The stunning goal also was Messi’s first free kick goal with PSG since joining the team last season. It was the 60th of his illustrious career.

The goal gave his club an early lead, one that it would eventually hold to capture a 2–1 win over Nice.

After a dull first year in Paris, it’s clear that the GOAT is back in top form.

Alabama’s Bryce Young Heads to Locker Room With Apparent Injury

The reigning Heisman winner had to leave the game vs. Arkansas.

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young had to leave the game vs. Arkansas after appearing to injure his shoulder on a play. At first, he was evaluated in the injury tent, but then left the field towards the Alabama locker room not long after.

It’s unclear how Young suffered the injury, but he appeared to favor his right shoulder after attempting a pass in the second quarter. Coming off the field, Young slammed his helmet in frustration and was clearly unhappy with how he was feeling.

After the staff evaluated him for a few minutes, Young jogged with his right arm hanging loose and left arm bent. As Alabama entered halftime with a 28-7 lead, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban confirmed to CBS Sports’ Jenny Dell that Young has a shoulder injury but could not provide many details on the situation.

“I don’t know the extent of it…They worked on him inside,” Saban added.

Young was the Heisman Trophy award winner in 2021, throwing for 4,872 yards with 47 touchdowns and just seven interceptions for the national championship runner-up Alabama team. This year, he has gotten off to just as hot of a start, accumulating over 1,000 yards passing with 13 touchdowns and two interceptions through four games entering Saturday’s contest

Alabama’s backup quarterback is Jalen Milroe, a redshirt freshman who has only appeared in seven games before Saturday, none as a starter. Following halftime, Young emerged from the locker room and was spotted on the Crimson Tide’s sideline with his helmet on.

Young worked on running back handoffs prior to the start of the second half of the game, per 247Sports’ Charlie Potter. However, Milroe started in Alabama’s first possession in the third quarter.

Dish and Sling TV drop Disney, ESPN, and others due to contract dispute

Alex Castro / The Verge

Dish and its Sling TV streaming service have dropped Disney’s package of channels after the companies couldn’t come to a contract agreement (via Deadline). Dish blames the dispute on Disney, claiming the company demanded a $1 billion fee increase and “walked away from the negotiation table.” The satellite provider adds that Disney wanted Dish to include ESPN, ESPN2, and local ABC channels at an added cost in packages that don’t carry them.

TCU Player Ejected for Scary Hit on Oklahoma Quarterback Gabriel

Jamoi Hodge was called for targeting after a dangerous play.

Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel had to leave the game vs. TCU when linebacker Jamoi Hodge hit him illegally after Gabriel scrambled for yardage. Hodge was penalized for targeting and was ejected from the game for the hit.

Gabriel began his slide, giving himself up on the play, when Hodge hit him hard directly in the helmet. Gabriel walked off the field under his own power but did not return to the game.

Before leaving the game, Gabriel and the Oklahoma offense were struggling to keep up with TCU, who were up 34–10 just five minutes into the second quarter. However, backup quarterback Davis Beville struggled in place of Gabriel.

Gabriel is in his first season with Oklahoma as a transfer after three years at the University of Central Florida. Entering Saturday’s game, he had thrown for over 1,000 yards with 11 touchdowns and no interceptions on the season.
