RALEIGH, N.C. (AP)—Setting aside the heated college basketball rivalry, recently retired Duke University coach Mike Krzyzewski was honored Thursday by Gov. Roy Cooper—a two-time graduate of the University of North Carolina—with the state’s highest honor.

Eschewing his favored Tar Heel blue tie for a darker Duke hue, Cooper held a ceremony to give Krzyzewski the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, saying he’s “dedicated his life to helping others be their best” both on and off the court. Coach K came to Durham in 1980 to take the job.

“I’m a Carolina fan, Tar Heel born and bred and all that. I would never pretend otherwise,” the Democratic governor said in an outdoor Executive Mansion ceremony attended by dozens of officials, Duke graduates and fans. “You got to be true to yourself, but you also have to be able to see through your bias and not only recognize greatness, but appreciate it.”

Krzyzewski retired as head coach after April’s gripping Final Four loss to of all teams UNC-Chapel Hill in their first-ever NCAA tournament meeting between the schools located 8 miles (13 kilometers) apart. Cooper, who attended the game in New Orleans, did not mention the outcome during Thursday’s event.

The Hall of Famer is college’s basketball winningest coach, with 1,202 wins. His Duke teams won five NCAA titles, and as the Olympic team head coach the U.S. won three consecutive gold medals. He coached nine national players of the year at Duke and 38 All-Americans.

Krzyzewski and his wife also are known for their charity work for health care and education, including the creation of a community center named for his late mother. Cooper also mentioned how Krzyzewski spoke out recently against inaction by politicians after mass gun violence.

“His impact on basketball, his impact on Duke University and on Durham and our state will live on forever,” said Senate Minority Leader Dan Blue of Wake County, a Duke law graduate and former head of the university’s trustee board.

Krzyzewski said it was a “tremendous honor” to receive the award, which was created in the 1960s for the governor to honor exemplary state service. Recipients receive the “special privilege” to propose the state’s official toast “anywhere in the free world.”

Krzyzewski quipped that the event was “bringing out the best” in Cooper. Even the governor’s family dog, Violet, wore a collar in the garden etched with the Duke name.

“Gov. Cooper is a Duke fan today,” Coach K said, emphasizing what brings North Carolina residents together.

“Whether you’re a Duke fan, a Carolina fan, or really don’t care about either one — and there are a bunch of people who don’t care about either one by the way — we all share a common bond of being a North Carolinian,” he said, adding that his family will “do everything we can to continue to help make this state the best state.”

View the original article to see embedded media.

Less than two weeks before their season opener, the Titans received tough news regarding their defense. Star pass rusher Harold Landry has reportedly suffered a torn ACL in practice, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Landry, 26, led the team last season with 12 sacks and earned his first career Pro Bowl appearance. He’s started every game for Tennessee over the past three years, and has spent his entire four-year career with the team after being taken in the second round of the 2018 draft out of Boston College.

Over the past three seasons, Landry has totaled 212 tackles and 36 tackles for loss with 26.5 sacks. He’s also forced two fumbles with six passes broken up. Landry signed a five-year, $87.5 million contract extension with the Titans earlier this year, a deal that included $52.5 million in guaranteed salary.

Other outside linebackers currently on the roster include Bud Dupree, Ola Adeniyi, and Rashad Weaver. Tennessee begins the season on Sept. 11 at home against the Giants.

Microsoft Edge’s new sidebar banishes recipe stories, shows you email

Thanks for the review, I guess?

Microsoft has added a new sidebar to its Edge browser with buttons that let you see information about a site, check your email, access Microsoft Office, and even strip the essential elements of a recipe out of an overly long post (via Windows Central). The new feature seems to build on the “Search in sidebar” function added to Edge in 2020, but it adds even more multitasking abilities.

The sidebar includes some small but useful panes, like the one that lets you search the web and quickly read articles, or the one that includes a variety of widgets, such as a calculator, dictionary, internet speed test, and unit convertor. Some of the panes are more fully featured; the Outlook one, for example, lets you read and send emails, as well as…

Report: Jazz Trade Donovan Mitchell to Cavaliers

Utah’s complete rebuild is underway after reportedly sending its star guard to Cleveland.

The Jazz are trading star guard Donovan Mitchell to the Cavaliers for three unprotected first round picks and two pick swaps, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The unprotected picks are in 2025, 2027 and 2029 with the pick swaps being in 2026 and 2028.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports also reports Cleveland is sending Lauri Markkanen, Colin Sexton and Ochai Agbaji to Utah as part of the deal. Sexton is signing a new four-year deal worth $72 million that’s fully guaranteed in the sign-and-trade deal, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Mitchell averaged 23.9 points, 4.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds this past season on 45% shooting from the field. He was also named to his third straight All-Star Game. Mitchell was drafted out of Louisville by Utah with the No. 13 pick in the 2017 draft, and with he and Rudy Gobert now gone from the franchise, it appears as though the Jazz are entering a full rebuild.

After the Jazz traded Gobert on July 1 to the Timberwolves in a blockbuster deal, Jazz general manager Justin Zanik told reporters that Mitchell was not “untouchable.” Just days later it was reported that the team was open to trade offers. Now, both the franchise and Mitchell will get a fresh start.

Mitchell will join fellow 2022 All Stars Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland in Cleveland as well as standout young big man Evan Mobley.

UK Rapper Tinie Is Face of Ben Sherman’s Latest Campaign

Tinie is a man of many talents. You may know him from his performance from the back of a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe at the closing ceremonies of the London Olympics in 2012. Or you may have heard one of his musical collaborations with Swedish House Mafia, Rita Ora, and Labrinth, among others. The award-winning rapper has six UK number one singles, more than any other UK rap artist in history. But his range extends beyond music. Tinie started his own menswear label What We Wear and created Raps, a fried chicken and wraps delivery restaurant in London. In addition, his television show Extraordinary Extensions, which explores home additions is coming back for a second series in 2022.

The one thread that weaves through all of Tinie’s ventures—music, television, and business—is his immeasurable sense of style. It came as no surprise when he was named Best Dressed at GQ’s Man of the Year awards in 2012.

Tinie x Ben Sherman

Tinie’s sense of style is on display in a global advertising campaign for the iconic menswear brand Ben Sherman. Wearing pieces from Ben Sherman’s Autumn/Winter collection for 2022, Tinie cuts a sharp figure.

“Ben Sherman has always been a staple in British culture,” Tinie says. “It was great to get the call to front the AW22 Menswear campaign. I enjoyed collaborating and shooting with the team, and it was great to reconnect with a brand that made such an impression on me coming up”.

The campaign is connected to the Ben Sherman Global Artist Foundry, a platform where music, art, and fashion intersect. The foundry is a support system for musicians, artists, and creatives at every level—from unsigned to well-established. Like Tinie, the original Ben Sherman was also a man of style. Born Arthur Benjamin Sugarman, Ben Sherman launched his own clothing line in 1963. The oxford cloth Ben Sherman shirt he created was revolutionary at the time and remains an iconic style staple today.
