Château Latour Owner Artémis Domaines Buys Majority Stake in Henriot

In a merger of French wine titans, François Pinault’s Artémis Domaines—the owner of iconic wineries such as Bordeaux’s Château Latour, Burgundy’s Clos de Tart and Napa’s Domaine Eisele Vineyard—is buying a majority stake in Maisons & Domaines Henriot, which owns Bouchard Père & Fils in Burgundy, William Fèvre in Chablis, Maison Henriot in Champagne and Beaux Frères in Oregon. The Henriot family will become minority shareholders in the combined company.

“The merger of Maisons & Domaines Henriot and Artémis Domaines is a wonderful opportunity to bring together the treasures of our wine heritage under the same banner,” said François Pinault in a statement. “It is a guarantee that a French group will ensure the long-term preservation of such jewels and continue the quest for excellence that has marked their prestigious history.”

Frédéric Engerer, managing director of Artémis Domaines, will oversee all the wineries, with the help of a supervisory board chaired by Gilles de Larouzière Henriot, the current CEO of Henriot. The deal closed today, the firms announced. A purchase price was not disclosed.

“For the estates of our family group, this alliance is full of promise,” said de Larouzière Henriot in a statement. “With Artémis Domaines, we share a deep attachment to the exceptional wine heritage of France and the ambition to fully develop the incomparable ensemble that we constitute through the combination of our estates. This operation is intended to be carried out over several generations, in the image of the long time that makes great wines.”

The Henriot family got their start in winemaking in Champagne, establishing their house in 1808. De Larouzière Henriot’s uncle, Joseph Henriot, grew the company after taking over in 1957. He also took on prime roles at Charles Heidsieck, Veuve Clicquot and then the LVMH group before leaving to return his focus to the family firm. In 1995, he purchased Bouchard, a historic Burgundy négociant that had fallen on hard times. He and his team invested and restored its reputation. Henriot also bought William Fèvre in Chablis. After his death in 2015, the company continued to grow under de Larouzière Henriot, expanding to America when it bought Oregon’s Beaux Frères in 2017.

François Pinault is one of the world’s richest men. Having come from humble origins in Brittany, he went on to build a lumber company and then a retail chain before establishing Kering, a luxury giant that includes fashion icons such as Alexander McQueen and Gucci. Artémis is his family’s investment company, which began its wine focus when Pinault purchased Château Latour in 1993. In recent years, under Engerer’s management, Artémis has bought some of the world’s most iconic wineries, including Clos de Tart in Morey-Saint-Denis, Château Grillet in the Northern Rhône, Napa’s Eisele Vineyard and a minority stake in Champagne Jacquesson. The company also owns Christie’s, one of the wine world’s leading auction houses.

I Predict These New Fall Boots Will Sell Out Instantly

Boots are an absolute cornerstone of any fall wardrobe, so when we got the opportunity to team up with Sperry on a footwear collaboration, I knew it was the first type of shoe I wanted to tackle. After a year of sketches, samples, and swatches, I’m so pleased to share our first release: the Who What Wear x Sperry Duck Float Boots. I may be a bit biased, but I don’t think there are better boots out there for the season ahead.

What’s to love about these boots? Let me count the ways. They are the perfect blend of style and service. The contrast topstitching and sleek ankle shaft are trend-forward yet classic. Ahead, I’m sharing a sneak peek into the design process and outfit ideas straight from me and our stylish editors. After we decided to kick off our partnership with a pair of boots, we went straight to the Sperry archive and current catalog for inspiration. I have memories of my stylish mother wearing Sperry duck boots growing up, so I was immediately drawn to the idea of incorporating the waterproof shell into the design. Sperry’s Duck Float style caught my eye, and I thought the more rugged, practical base would be the perfect partner to a sleek leather “city-boot style” shaft. I aimed for a study in compatible contrasts, as I find some of the best design moments balance two different aesthetics for a nuanced, visually interesting effect.

Then it was on to the details! I love contrast stitching because it lends a bit of edge and highlights the lines of a design. An embossed logo on the heel became our subtle branding moment, and we went for classic color choices of black and a rich caramel brown to ensure you get the most wear out of your investment. On a practical note, the rubber sole has traction pods to help stay upright in slippery weather. Overall, the boots are a chic blend of form and function.

In addition to a smashing pair of boots, an oversize blazer is a fall must. Add a miniskirt plus a turtleneck, and your look will be equal parts on-trend and classic.

I’d make a bet your closet has all the items needed to re-create this effortless look. Leggings are perfect to show off your new boots, and a crisp Oxford shirt and casual sweater over your shoulders add polish. 

I love a look that throws fashion rules to the wind. Long shorts plus mid-calf boots may seem intimidating, but this outfit is proof the proportions can work, especially when paired with a sophisticated tank.

If the long-shorts look isn’t your speed, the outfit also works well with a pair that hits mid-thigh. For one of those early fall, warmer rainy days, a bucket hat is the perfect complement to your waterproof boots.

The Iconic Investment Pieces You’ll Want to Wear Forever

When it comes to jewelry, nothing says iconic quite like Cartier. The brand has been around since the 1800s, and its gorgeous designs continue to be coveted over the decades. This is especially true of Cartier’s most iconic collections, a curation that represents creativity and style of the past, present, and future, so every piece is truly timeless. Iconic, no? I recently styled them at our fall Who What Wear Collection shoot and got to experience the magic firsthand. Together, the pieces turned even the most understated looks into something truly timeless. I’ve always been drawn to the LOVE collection by Cartier (I mean, who doesn’t love LOVE?), so I leaned into it in a major way with this bodysuit look. For an elevated stacking moment that felt both bold and chic, I layered on plenty of yellow gold LOVE pieces in a variety of sizes. For an impactful finishing touch, I added the Juste un Clou bracelet in the same yellow gold. Between the screw details and the memorable nail shape, these two collections are standouts that I reach for over and over again. Dating back to 1970s New York City, these two styles are designed with clean lines and precious details that can be easily elevated to create the most special looks, a concept that’s both classic and modern.

An all vegan leather look calls for an equally daring stacking moment. Combining a Panthère watch (beloved by fashionable women and men alike) with the Juste un Clou bracelet takes this stack to the next level. Both collections call back to the wild decades of their original designs, but their shapes have proven to be truly timeless. Add a few LOVE rings, and these three collections make for a dream combination that represents a modern take on classic designs—the very thing the iconic Cartier collections are all about.

Playing with mixed metals is a true lesson in masterful jewelry stacking. The Trinity collection is an emblematic Cartier design that intertwines yellow, rose, and white gold in each piece, and it’s the place to begin for creative stacking. This collection’s tactile nature makes it feel part-jewelry, part-sculpture, and it’s been in the Cartier archives since the 1920s. Talk about legendary. I started with the Trinity ring and added two pavé LOVE rings (they’re even more striking when worn together) and more yellow gold as the anchor to an effortlessly luxe look.
