A new six-part documentary chronicling Nicki Minaj’s ascension to the Queen of Rap throne is coming soon.
The “We Go Up” rapper–who also serves as Maxim’s Creative Director and a partner with sports betting app MaximBet–dropped a trailer for Nicki on Instagram, where she recently became the first rapper to pass 200 million followers.
“I never wanted to be mainstream,” she says as her 2018 banger “Chun-Li” plays in the background, Billboard points out. “Mainstream came to me.”
A central theme deals with Minaj’s battle make it in the traditionally male-dominated hip-hop scene. “I’m fighting for the girls who never thought they could win,” she says.
There are also allusions to issues with self-medication, self-love, and a largely “unsupportive” music industry. But it’s the trailer’s tail end that brings the most telling insight into Minaj’s drive: “I have to make music in order to stay sane,” she says.
“I took some time to perfect this very intimate, delicate, electrifying, inspiring body of work,” Minaj adds in trailer’s IG caption.
“As I decide on a home for this project, I can’t help but reflect on what I’m including in this doc. Some things are so personal, it’s scary. It’s like NOTHING you’ve seen before & I need it to be handled with care. Love you so much. Thank you for the continued support.”
While we wait for Nicki, fans can look forward to the August 11 return of Minaj’s Queen Radio on Amazon’s Amp live radio app followed by the Rick James-sampling new single “Freaky Girl” on August 12.

Universal has dropped the first official teaser trailer for Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan’s atomic bomb epic starring Cillian Murphy.
The short, moody trailer features snippets of black and white footage of Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer—the famed theoretical physicist known as the “father” of the A-bomb.
As large blasts of fire flash alongside a countdown clock, an ominous voiceover describes Oppenheimer as “the most important man who ever lived,” while a tagline reads, “The world forever changes.”
The film sees Murphy reunite with Nolan after starring in three films for the acclaimed director: 2005’s Batman Begins, 2010’s Inception and 2017’s Dunkirk.
The teaser trailer blew up online this week after first debuting in theaters before screenings of Jordan Peele’s Nope.
Oppenheimer is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.
Nolan is directing the $100 million movie from his own screenplay with a stacked cast that includes Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, David Krumholtz, and Kenneth Branagh.
Oppenheimer is scheduled to open exclusively in theaters on July 21, 2023.

Over its 180 years of operation, Riva has grown to represent an pinnacle of production yacht quality that’s analogous to Ferrari’s position in the automobile industry. That legacy continues with the new flagship of its flybridge range: the Riva 130-foot Bellissima.
A blend of carbon fiber, steel and glass form an exterior that’s characterized by distinct, sleek lines. The spherical crystal windshield features Riva’s hallmark counter-curvature, while the hull window is highlighted by a black line that runs along the glistening boat side.
Extensive glazed surfaces reflect natural light to accentuate the main and upper decks, which in-turn offer panoramic views. There are also a few supercar-inspired details such as air intake grills, carbon fiber detailing and a hard top. It’s of course packing considerably more power than any roadgoing ride—twin 2,638-hp engines are good for cruising and top speeds of 23 and 26 knots.
The Bellissima boasts over 645 square feet of livable space. The interior features a 270-degree view saloon fitted with glass and polished rosewood, a master suite on the main deck, four cabins on the lower deck, and a large lobby with en suite bathrooms in between.
The exterior introduces Riva’s new stern concept, which is lower, open to the water and split into a Beach Club and a cockpit. The upper deck is formatted with dining area seating for 10, plus two closed private balconies and a top-mounted sundeck suited to tanning or cocktails.
No word on price, but Riva does say that the Bellissimia was built for an American owner.
