It’s a Fact: A Summer Outfit Isn’t Complete Without This Accessory

When shopping for summer, I have my list of priorities. I’ll snag a few dresses, a couple of new pairs of shorts, and a cute tank here and there. But when it comes to buying sunglasses, your girl has no limit. It’s the one accessory, IMO, that completes the whole outfit, so I have to have options.

I basically have a whole section of my closet dedicated to sunnies, and a high percentage of them are by Quay. After taking a peek at the brand’s latest drop, I have a feeling that percentage is about to increase. Aviators, square lenses, oversize shades, round frames, and more are about to make all my summer ‘fits look absolutely fire. Muskrats are a bellwether for a drying delta

Downstream of hydroelectric dams and Alberta’s oil sands, one of the world’s largest freshwater deltas is drying out. New research suggests long-term drying is making it harder for muskrats to recover from massive die-offs. It’s a sign of threats to come for many other species.

Guadalupe fur seals continue to recover as new colony discovered

Guadalupe fur seals (Arctocephalus townsendi) have established a large resting colony in the Gulf of California — bringing the total number of sites where this endangered species now occurs to just four. This new haul-out was discovered on El Farallón de San Ignacio Island, along the mainland coast of Mexico.

Uncovering the genetic mechanism behind Rett syndrome

Researchers found that the main gene that causes Rett syndrome, MeCP2, controls the differentiation pattern of neural stem cells through the microRNA miR-199a. Dysfunction in MeCP2 or miR-199a cause neural stem cells to produce more astrocytes than neurons. Furthermore, the researchers found that miR-199a mediates the production of Smad1, a downstream transcription factor of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling.

Observation, simulation, and AI join forces to reveal a clear universe

Astronomers have developed a new artificial intelligence (AI) technique to remove noise in astronomical data due to random variations in galaxy shapes. After extensive training and testing on large mock data created by supercomputer simulations, they then applied this new tool to actual data from Japan’s Subaru Telescope and found that the mass distribution derived from using this method is consistent with the currently accepted models of the Universe.

Kate Middleton Just Wore the Most Unexpected Shoe Trend at Wimbledon

The Duchess of Cambridge at Wimbledon? Nature is truly healing. For those who love to follow tennis and the fashion being worn by spectators at the two-week event, you’ll be pleased to know that we’ve had our first major spotting of Kate Middleton at Wimbledon. The royal went for a classic DoC look with an Alessandra Rich skirt in blue with white polka dots, a white tee, a blue blazer, and a pair of white court shoes—the Romy style from Jimmy Choo, to be precise. She accessorized the look with a mini bag from Mulberry.

While you could be mistaken for thinking this is very typical styling from Middleton, there’s one small detail we don’t think we’ve ever seen her wear: the white pumps.
