Jennifer Lopez Just Wore the Accessory Trend That Refuses to Die
2019 has undoubtedly been Jennifer Lopez’s year. The superstar got engaged to A-Rod, turned 50, and starred in the critically acclaimed Hustlers, just to name a few of her milestones. And as you know, she’s served up countless wildly stylish outfits, and she’s still at it, wearing one of her last looks before we embark on a new decade.
Yesterday in Beverly Hills, Lopez traded the bright colors she often wears for a subdued all-black outfit consisting of a turtleneck, wool coat, leather trousers, and her favorite white Alexander McQueen sneakers. But we’re here to talk about the statement accessory that she wore with the look: a designer logo belt (a Chanel designer logo belt, that is).
Logo belts have been trending hard ever since the Gucci belt craze began a few years ago, and J.Lo just proved that the trend has stood the test of time, as she looks as forward as even in her Chanel belt. It’s also worth noting that designer brands continue to make new logo belts each season, so people are clearly still buying them. The verdict? Hang onto your logo belts for 2020 (and probably beyond), and don’t be afraid to add a new one to your collection if you love them.

This Electric Hydrofoil Surfboard Lets You Float Above The Water
Water-loving adrenaline junkies should take note of the all-new Fliteboard electric surfboard. Developed by world record-setting kiteboarder David Trewern, the battery-operated hydrofoil board propels riders at up to 28 mph and runs for up to 90 minutes.
What supposedly makes the Fliteboard work better than competitors is the location of its all-aluminum unibody hydrofoil fuselage. Thrust from the propeller is channeled from behind—and not above—the naval architect-designed wings.
According to Fliteboard, this setup offers five major advantages, including better stability thanks to a more consistent wing balance, less drag (and therefore greater power efficiency), a more efficiently cooled motor, and tighter carving and chopping capability thanks to a lengthened mast.
Riders operate the Fliteboard using a waterproof handheld remote. This “Flite Controller” provides smooth power delivery via a selection of 20 different finely-tuned gears and displays telemetry, range, power and other system data.
The board itself is made from carbon fiber Innegra, which is the lightest commercially available carbon fiber commercially available, as well as hard anodized aircraft-grade aluminium and high-quality wood laminates.
“It looks very simple, but there’s a lot underneath the surface,” Trewern recently told a Robb Report writer who actually tested the Fliteboard and spoke to its user-friendliness.
“Using high-voltage electronics in salt water is challenging, and there are about 500 parts in a Fliteboard, including the battery and connectors, all of which are waterproof. And it had to look at home on a superyacht.”
Three different configurations suited to different abilities are available. The standard Fliteboard has a larger and wider surface suited for any rider. Those with skateboarding or surfing experience might opt for the Fliteboard Pro, which boasts the smallest riding surface for maximum maneuverability. There’s also and inflatable version dubbed the Flightboard Air, which has twice as much riding surface as the standard Fliteboard.
All three are available with the choice of two wings: a “Cruiser” version that offers maximum stability, and a “Flyer” version that allows the 28 mph top speed to be achieved.
Starting at $12,995, the Fliteboard is available to order now with a $3,850 deposit online.

‘The Mandalorian’ Season Finale Scores Perfect 100 Percent Rating on Rotten Tomatoes
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been in theaters for more than a week. While it’s doing pretty well overall, critical and fan reactions have admittedly been mixed. That’s not the case with Disney+ TV series The Mandalorian.
The show—which stars Pedro Pascal as the title character and is about the adventures of a mysterious bounty hunter—just wrapped its inaugural season. The verdict is in via review aggregation sites like Rotten Tomatoes: Nearly everyone loved it.
Mandalorian‘s overall rating on Rotten Tomatoes is an impressive 94 percent as of December 30, 2019, and the 8th episode and season finale was scored a rare “100% Fresh” on the “Tomatometer.”
To be clear, that just doesn’t happen much when it comes to things Star Wars. That’s been the case since A New Hope first premiered in 1977—the fandom is just so huge that widespread agreement seems almost mathematically impossible.
But read just a few quotes about the season finale from critics quoted on rottentomatoes.com and you see that this Jon Favreau-created series is knocking it out of the park:
- “Tears, cheers, shock, and awe. The season finale of The Mandalorian had all that and more, resulting in almost certainly the show’s best episode.” — io9
- “A solid end of the decade palette cleanser that has me excited about 2020 with the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and Season 2 of this amazing and terrific show.” — Critic Jeffrey Lyles
- “Will we ever see Pedro Pascal’s face again? With any luck, we’ll have all these questions answered in season 2.” — Entertainment Weekly
- “What a reassuring feeling it is, isn’t it, to be thrilled by the conclusion of a Star Wars story.” — Rolling Stone
We have no doubts about the viability of just about any Star Wars story that hits the big or small screen. Only Solo, the misbegotten Han Solo prequel, has ever done poorly across the board—box office as well as critical response.
That said, while the storytelling in The Mandalorian is clearly top-notch, we have to believe a lot of credit for this show becoming yet another beloved and memorable installment in the saga is due to “Baby Yoda.”
Not actually Yoda himself but a member of the tiny Jedi master’s race, from the moment this adorable character appeared on screen, even the most cynical Star Wars fans found themselves hooked. That’s why you never stop seeing the little creature’s crazy-cute face popping up in your social media feeds.
We won’t take the credit all away from Jon Favreau, Pedro Pascal, or director of the moment Taika Waititi, who has received much of the credit for nailing it with the last show of this run—there’s no such thing as a small production when you’re telling a Star Wars story, and it looks like everything is going right with this one.
If people could stand in an actual line to wait for season two, it sounds like they would. Unfortunately, that won’t be available—as Favreau confirmed in the tweet above—till 2020.
All episodes of Star Wars: The Mandalorian are currently available for streaming on Disney+.
