Office Housework: A History

Ali Ruth writes humorous letters in which self-satisfied men patronizingly request office-housekeeping help from great women in history whom they’ve wronged, like Joan of Arc, Sacagawea, and Rosalind Franklin.

Mashed potatoes. One of the most quintessential Thanksgiving side dishes.

Some people like them whipped with peas and onions, some people like them with lumps, and some people like them in the form of tots. But then again, this is just based on Phoebe, Ross and Joey.

No, but really, we all have a different preference on how we want our mashed potatoes, and it’s very hard to please everyone. Except these mashed potatoes will truly please EVERYONE.

For starters, it’s made in the IP, pressure cooked in just 10 min. 10 WHOLE MINUTES. That is it. (No cold water needed here – the cold water that takes 20 long minutes to come to a rolling boil!)

Once your potatoes are perfectly softened, you can add all your fix-ins: milk, sour cream, Ranch Seasoning and all the butter your heart desires.

The end result: perfectly creamy, fluffy and rich. Serve with additional melted butter on top (because why not) and chopped chives.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup water
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 (1-ounce) package Ranch Seasoning and Salad Dressing Mix
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives

Directions:

  1. Add water and 1 teaspoon salt to a 6-qt Instant Pot®. Place metal trivet into the pot. Gently add potatoes on top of the trivet.
  2. Select manual setting; adjust pressure to high, and set time for 10 minutes. When finished cooking, quick-release pressure according to manufacturer’s directions.
  3. Remove potatoes and trivet from the Instant Pot® and drain excess liquid before returning the potatoes to the pot. Stir in milk, sour cream, Ranch Seasoning and Salad Dressing Mix and butter.
  4. Using a potato masher, mash potatoes until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add more milk as needed until desired consistency is reached. Stir in chives; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
  5. Serve immediately.

Re/Done Launched Boots—Now I’m Placing Bets on Which Celeb Will Wear Them First

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that Re/Done is everyone’s favorite brand of jeans. If you read Who What Wear on the reg, you’re pretty well-versed on the popular denim brand since we talk about it all the time and are quick to share the celebrities who wear its jeans, tees, and hoodies on repeat. Since its conception in 2015, it’s managed to make wardrobe staples like jeans and tees cooler than they’ve ever been before. Now the brand has set its sights on taking over yet another area of our closets: boots. This isn’t its first foray into shoes (if you remember the Weejuns collab from last year), but seeing as it’s peak ankle boot–and-jeans season right now, this launch couldn’t be more perfectly timed.

Speaking of its celebrity fan base, Kaia Gerber, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Miley Cyrus, just to name a few, are the A-listers who we regularly spot wearing the brand. So now that Re/Done is selling some of the coolest boots to wear with its already cool selection of jeans, it’s only a matter of time until the celeb crowd gets its hands on a pair (or three).

This time around, Re/Done’s offering boots all on its own, sans a brand collab. The collection is an edited assortment of five styles—three ankle boots and two mid-calf boots—that hit on the massive Western trend. True to form, they’ve made these cowboy-style boots even cooler than we thought possible. Each one comes with that perfectly lived-in look, as if you’ve owned and worn them already for years now. Just throw on your favorite jeans and a slouchy tee and you’ve nailed the look.

Keep reading for an exclusive first look at Re/Done’s new boot collection, and then shop each pair here.

These Bra and Underwear Basics Are Unrivaled, According to Irina Shayk

It’s not every day you find yourself interviewing a supermodel in Italy, but that’s exactly what I was doing last week. (Do I sound obnoxious yet?) Intimissimi invited me to the brand’s hometown of Verona to attend its annual lingerie fashion show, so I got to interview brand ambassador Irina Shayk shortly before she took her front-row seat at the event. Of course, I took the opportunity to ask her about all things lingerie.

Considering that she’s been modeling lingerie for over a decade—beginning when Intimissimi discovered her 12 years ago in Moscow—it’s no surprise that she’d pick up a few tips along the way. “Definitely choose a bra that is the right size,” Shayk told me.” I have tried to get a bra that is a little smaller because it gives me a better push-up, but at the end of the day, that doesn’t work because you have to find the right fit and shape for you.”

I also asked Shayk about her go-to lingerie basics—keep scrolling down for her answers. And when I pressed further about more daring lingerie trends, Shayk said that she’s open-minded when it comes to just about every trend. “The funny part is I would wear everything,” Shayk responded when I gave her a list of trends, including garter belts, granny panties, and sheer bras. “It all depends on your mood, the occasion, and what you’re wearing.” Without further ado, scroll down for three basics Irina Shayk swears by.

“A wireless triangle bra is very comfortable to travel in,” Shayk told us. “You can take it from day to night; you don’t have to change. It could be lace or silk.”

“In a G-string, you can wear a tight skirt or jeans and you feel sexy,” Shayk told me. “You don’t have to worry about the lines. I would go with black, white, and nude. I’ve found myself sometimes waking up and thinking Let me put on a bright G-string under my sweatpants to feel sexy.”

“You can definitely do high-waisted underwear to give you a little more support. Or you can even wear granny panties when you go to bed; I like to wear something very comfortable to bed.”
