If you regularly scroll through our many Who What Wear stories, then you probably come across a lot of shopping recommendations from one of our favorite sites, Net-a-Porter. However, have you ever wondered what our editors are actually buying and wearing from the luxury retailer ourselves? Well, today you’re in for a treat.
From the $60 sunglasses Ally refuses to take off to a $1060 It bag (that I agree is totally worth the investment), our team is sharing the items we’re obsessed with from NAP—that are somehow still in stock and available to buy. So, whether you’re looking for an actually functional coat and everyday boots, or perhaps a fun statement purse and solid pair of jeans, we’ve got you covered across the board. Just keep scrolling to see, read about, and shop all 23 of our picks (before they’re gone).
“Burgundy is one of few colors I actually wear because it’s as easy to style as black—and this cozy sweater is no exception.” — Nicole Akhtarzad, Market Editor
“Since the bulk of my day-to-day outfits are relatively simple, I usually rely on cool accessories to make them less boring. This bag definitely has done the trick this season.” — Nicole Akhtarzad
“I talk about these jeans a lot, but that’ts because I wear them a lot! I love the ultra high rise, the rigidity, and the cut (which is technically flared but so slightly that it feels more straight to me).” — Nicole Akhtarzad
“Recently, long, flowy dresses are all I want to wear—like this one from Matteau with billowy sleeves and a nipped-in waist. It’s a great transitional piece that works anywhere from the beach to a dinner party.” — Kristen Nichols
“I pretty much live in turtlenecks for the fall, and right now I’m wearing this one from Jacquemus on repeat.” — Kristen Nichols
“For workouts, I always rely on matching sets, including this one from Vaara, which I just added to my wardrobe. I love the cropped zip-up, which has subtle ’70s vibes.” — Kristen Nichols. Shop the matching Tyler Striped Stretch Leggings ($180).
“Black jeans are a must in my wardrobe for fall and winter, and this pair checks so many boxes, from the high-rise to the sleek straight-leg. Plus, they play well with ankle boots (as exemplified here). What more could you ask in an everyday jean?” — Anna LaPlaca, Assistant Editor
“This pair nails the slouchy jean look that’s trending so hard right now, but doesn’t compromise looking put-together one bit (a tough balance to nail, if you ask me). They’re structured, but still roomy, and the light blue wash could easily pass as genuine vintage.” — Anna LaPlaca
“So what are you to wear with the above jeans I just recommended? This top from The Line by K, of course. I also own this one in the raspberry color, but I think I might need the cream now, too.” – Anna LaPlaca
“These simple Le Specs shades have barely left my face since I got them. After years of wearing ‘weird’ sunglasses, I was ready for something more subtle and flattering. This pair is super similar, and I think I may need them too.” – Allyson Payer
“I don’t own many printed bags since I usually find them hard to wear, but this tiger-print one is very neutral and fits in with the rest of my wardrobe really well. Plus, it’s truly the perfect size.” — Allyson Payer
“What really sold me on these is that they’re weatherproof but still cool enough to wear on a perfectly dry day, so no need to save them for snow.” — Allyson Payer
“This set is simply perfect. The sweater is slightly cropped and the skirt has just a bit of swing. Wear them apart, wear them together. Either way, I promise you’ll get a ton of use from these knits.” — Kat Collings, Editor in Chief. Shop the matching Jersey Ribbed-Knit Maxi Skirt ($295).
“A Barbour jacket is for life. I love that it’s a heritage brand with a serious commitment to quality. The jacket even comes with a can of wax so you can weatherproof it for more serious weather situations. I love that Barbour partnered with AlexaChung for a more fashion take on the classic jacket. The color-blocking is a sweet addition, and I’ve never owned a jacket with more pockets!” — Kat Collings
“This Wolford bodysuit is unlike any other bodysuit I’ve owned. It’s made of a fabric that I’ll describe as really thick tights. That means it hugs your body the same way a pair of tights conforms to your legs. It is a bodysuit in its highest form, which, to me, means it excels at creating a body-hugging silhouette sans any bulky top tucking. ” — Kat Collings
“I love a pop of color now and then to shake up my neutral-hued-filled wardrobe. This soft-to-the-touch jacket from Nanushka is one of the best investments I’ve made—it’s feels so luxurious, and the color is to die for. I always get an influx of compliments when I wear it—and I can’t complain about that!” — Judith Jones, Market Editor
“I basically live in breezy cotton blouses on the weekend, and this comfortable and pretty vintage-inspired Doên one remains my go-to.” — Judith Jones
“I wear small gold hoop earrings daily—this gorgeous braided design by Laura Lombardi is my absolute favorite—they’re the perfect size for everyday wear.” – Judith Jones
“I have a tiny obsession with mini crossbody bags at the moment—just so practical for that on-the-go lifestyle. I’m particularly into this Balenciaga beauty because it’s simple in nature, but has just the right amount of statement-making details (ahem, the logo) to make it special.” — Bobby Schuessler, Market Editor
“I’m all about oversize shades these days that basically cover your entire face. These Saint Laurent stunners are constantly in my rotation.” — Bobby Schuessler
“I’m obsessed with my Nanushka vegan leather dress, which I own in black and now I’m weirdly tempted to also get in cream. I’m a fan of layering a long-sleeve top underneath, but it can also be worn by itself for holiday parties. I also can confirm that it travels well and doesn’t wrinkle easily.” — Erin Fitzpatrick, Senior News Editor
“We barely get any real weather here in L.A., but that won’t stop me from being prepared for that glorious moment I can finally bust out this pretty purple rain jacket.” — Erin Fitzpatrick
“After years of wearing Nike running sneakers, I think I might be fully converted to APL versions now. They’re so lightweight and comfortable, they might actually convince me to make use of the gym membership I’ve only used twice this year (oops).” — Erin Fitzpatrick
It’s been years since they first entered our closets, and still, skinny jeans just won’t quit. They’re a timeless wardrobe staple, so we’ve gotten into the habit of wearing them with the same outfits we always do. There’s nothing wrong with outfit repeating (and we’d actually argue that it’s necessary to define your personal style), but with skinny jeans, it’s easy to find yourself reaching for the same few items over and over.
To fend off any potential style ruts, we’ve compiled the outfit ideas that made us look at the trusted denim in a completely new light. It’s all thanks to the celebrities who aren’t afraid of a “risky” trend or two. Take Rihanna, for example, who transformed her denim into something fit for a princess (yeah, we went there) by layering a sheer dress on top. We strive to be on that level of innovation.
Ready to rethink your next skinny-jean outfit? Keep reading to see the best celebrity skinny-jean outfits, and shop the pieces to re-create them.
Wearing a dress over pants is an outfit hack that always looks innovative when done right, and Rihanna’s look here is a perfect example of how to pull it off. The slim-fitting jeans are a great canvas to start with, and they really shine underneath a sheer dress. Finish it off with transparent heels as RiRi did, and you have yourself a jean outfit that’s fit for a princess. On Rihanna: Quetsche Hidden Dress Cotton-Jersey and Tulle T-Shirt ($395); Matthew Adams Dolan High-Rise Straight-Leg Jeans ($276); Amina Muaddi Begum Glass Transparent Sandals ($895)
Doubling up on your denim isn’t exactly an earth-shattering idea, but sure enough, J.Lo managed to reinvent it. She opted for a denim jacket and jeans in a polarizing wash—acid wash—from head to toe, and the result is an innovative take on the Canadian tuxedo that makes a ‘fit as tried-and-true as skinny jeans look brand-new. On Jennifer Lopez: Balmain acid-wash denim jacket and jeans; Jessica Rich Fancy Stiletto Pumps ($198)
This is the jean-and-boot look everyone is after right now. Hailey Bieber was a pioneer of this styling “mistake,” tucking her skinny jeans into slouchy boots, and it ignited an entire outfit trend. On Hailey Bieber: Mugler blazer; Cotton Citizen High Skinny Jeans ($295); Ash Doll boots; Ray-Ban Wayfarer RB2140 Square Sunglasses ($153)
Princess Diana’s iconic ’80s outfits are the gifts that just keep giving. When Hailey Biber channeled this look not too long ago, it reminded us of just how great—and re-creatable—Lady Di’s jean outfits really were. Here, Bieber combined with two style tropes when she paired a blazer (something we often reach for with skinny jeans) and a collegiate crew-neck. On Hailey Bieber: Jil Sander Off Centre Fastening Blazer ($2526); Vintage Cornell University Sweatshirt ($95); Bottega Venetta heels; Balenciaga Hourglass XS Top Handle Bag ($1550)
Long jeans (as opposed to cropped ones) are trending right now, and even though it’s a simple detail, it totally reinvents how to wear skinny jeans in our minds. Take a cue from Georgia Fowler’s look here, and wear them over a sleek kitten heel.
Something about me: I love a good camel coat. But who doesn’t? It’s truly the perfect winter clothing item. Goes with everything, can be dressed up or down, is timeless, looks expensive—these are a few of the many qualities this universal wardrobe staple possesses. Given the appeal, it’s no wonder there’s a slew of camel coat options from brands at every price point on the market. But one, in particular, is so perfect that it crosses my mind about once a day: the Annecy Oversized Wool and Cashmere-Blend Coat by popular Swedish brand Totême (which is beloved by fashion people and celebrities around the world).
Totême excels at luxe, minimal pieces that also make a statement (thanks to features like ruching and dramatically puffed sleeves). Two years ago, the brand released a camel cashmere-and-wool wrap coat—the Annecy Coat, which has become a permanent fixture in its collection, likely because of its popularity (it has been restocked repeatedly). The coat features a perfectly oversize fit, draped collar, and side slits, and is the perfect weight for layering or just wearing with a T-shirt on more mild days. Not only that, celebrity fans of the coat include the very stylish Jennifer Lawrence and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
Which brings me to the only thing stopping me from buying the beautiful Totême coat immediately: the $1100 price tag. It’s certainly something to aspire to, but in the meantime, I scoured the internet for the best less-expensive camel coats. Whether you invest in the Totême one or go for one of the other more budget-friendly ones, you won’t be disappointed.
Keep scrolling to shop my camel coats and to see Lawrence and Huntington-Whiteley (and other stylish women of Instagram) with my dream Totême one.
On Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: Totême Annecy Coat ($1100), sweater, and jeans; Gianvito Rossi boots
On Jennifer Lawrence: Oliver Peoples sunglasses; Totême Annecy Coat ($1100); Rosetta Getty T-shirt; Citizens of Humanity Olivia High Waist Slim Jeans ($268); Dior bag and boots

As a fashion editor, I spend the better part of my day researching trends both digitally and IRL at various fashion appointments and on the street when various style setters pass me by. When it comes to outfit trends specifically, there’s one prominent look I’ve continued to spot throughout all of my sartorial explorations over the last few months: Okay, you may already know it (given that I’ve covered it in various ways before), but here it goes: a slouchy blazer, basic top, and blue jeans.
That’s right—it seems celebrity and fashion people all got the memo this season that this simple yet polished outfit formula is the only look that matters when you need a directional and cool ensemble that doesn’t try too hard. And while A-listers like Hailey Bieber and Emily Ratajkowski (along with It girls during Fashion Month) routinely stepped out in this three-piece fit throughout 2019, my gut tells me the ensemble will only increase in popularity over the next few months as more and more catch onto the effortlessness of the vibe. So with that, I’m deeming it the official fashion uniform right now—and in 2020.
To back this all up, I rounded up a range of my favorite celeb and fashion-girl outfits showcasing the various iterations of this chic ensemble. Keep scrolling to get inspired to try the look once and for all. Plus, find new ways to style the uniform you’ve already been wearing. And per usual, I also shopped out the key pieces for each outfit for further inspo.
