The Designer Items That Will Go Viral in 2020, From a Celeb Personal Shopper

They say if you choose a job you love, you will never have to work a day in your life. Now, imagine if said job was to legit shop. Well, that age-old assertion would hold especially true, right? Because shopping for work sounds pretty dang great (in my opinion, anyway). For Australian personal shopper Gabriel Waller, this is all very much a reality as her day-to-day routine consists of literally shopping and sourcing hard-to-find (and often sold-out) items for trendsetters. That’s right—she launched a personal-shopping business a little over a year ago and has quickly amassed a huge celebrity following, starting with Rosie-Huntington Whiteley.

“I’m fortunate to count several celebrities amongst my clientele, and it all started with Rosie. She had posted on her Instagram story about wanting an old Celine coat. Following that post, we were connected through a mutual friend. That has truly been the biggest game-changing moment in my career to date,” Waller told us. “Since then, I’ve sourced and secured items for Hailey Bieber, Kourtney Kardashian, Behati Prinsloo Levine, Jen Atkin, Lily Aldridge, Elle Macpherson, and most recently, I sourced the pink Peter Pilotto suit for Ciara’s Beyoncé Halloween costume.” Waller then explained to us how her process for uncovering specific pieces works. “If it’s new season, I reach out to my network of immediate contacts,” she said. “When it comes to previous season and vintage items, I tap into the private market—which also requires me keeping track of what items are held in my network around the world.” FYI, you can scope a sampling of the pieces she’s found for various celebs and fashion people by following along with the hashtag #sourcedbygw.

Okay, given her heightened sartorial sensibilities with the ability to know first-hand what It items celebs want, we thought we’d tap her for a little sneak peek of what she thinks her A-list crew will covet come 2020.

In-between managing requests to track down some of the most coveted items, Waller shared with us the next-wave designer pieces she’s already starting to get inquiries about, and those she thinks will go viral thanks to their exclusive status. Keep scrolling to shop her finds and invest in similar pieces now.

“It will come at no surprise that Bottega Veneta is the #1 designer on my request list. It is by far my most in-demand brand, and I’ve already been inundated with preorder requests for the S/S 20 collection. The standout piece will again be the pouch, with the addition of the new chain strap as seen on the S/S 20 runway. Coming in at a very close second in the Bottega realm will be the footwear. With Daniel’s designs selling out worldwide this year, I can guarantee this will continue well into 2020.”

“The Dior book tote has/is set to arrive in two new sizes: small and mini. If the demand for the standard book tote is anything to go by, the small and mini will command equal demand. Preorder requests have been flowing through for these two sizes for at least four months now, so I anticipate these requests to explode as we move into 2020.”

“Amina Muaddi, Amina Muaddi, Amina Muaddi. This is still the name we all need to know for 2020. A number of her iconic styles will be restocked for S/S 20, including the sold-out Begum crystal-embellished PVC slingback pumps. Yep, they are coming back and guaranteed to sell out all over again. I strongly recommend my clients preorder to secure their Amina pieces.”

“The all-new Chanel 19 handbag has been huge this season. I know I’ll continue to receive requests for this particular bag and collection well into the new year. These pieces are from Karl’s very last collection with Chanel, so they come engrained with additional value to many.”

“The Dior x Rimowa collaboration would have to be one of the most highly anticipated collaboration collections of the year and I know the resale value on these pieces will be huge. An early pre-launch occurred in Paris this past week and sold out (to no surprise). Based on my current requests, the cabin-size luggage will be the must-have piece from this collab.”

All the Striking Red Carpet Looks From the CMA Awards

We’ve certainly been spoiled when it comes to amazing red carpet looks this month. We already witnessed Zendaya and Kim Kardashian West at the People’s Choice Awards, as well as Chrissy Teigen and Kelly Rowland at the Baby2Baby Gala, but now we turn our attention to the midwest, where stars have invaded Nashville for the Country Music Association Awards.

Naturally, all of the biggest country icons were on hand, including Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, and Carrie Underwood, as well as quickly rising artists such as Lil Nas X and Kelsea Ballerini. Kacey Musgraves wore one of our favorite looks of the night: a glittering, feather-bedecked yellow dress fit for a princess. (And it didn’t hurt that she brought an impeccably dressed Gigi Hadid along for the ride.) Scroll down for the best CMA Awards red carpet looks of 2019.
