I’m a Picky Shopper, and These Are My Favorite Fall Dresses

If you can believe it, this fashion editor of 5 years is, in fact, quite picky and won’t just wear or buy anything she sees—and, in case it’s not coming through on the internet, that was sarcasm. Of course, I’m picky! I’m obsessed with clothes, shoes, and accessories and look at them on the internet every single day both for my personal gain and for my job. If I wasn’t highly selective, I would be not only be shopping way too much, but also, I would definitely not be as effective in curating only the best picks for you guys, our readers.

So, where am I directing my discerning eye today? Fall dresses. Admittedly, aside from party-ready styles I’m not that much of a dress girl myself, but I think that’s only made me even better at picking them out. After all, if I’m willing to trade in my jeans for it, then it’s got to be really good. So, from casual to cocktail, see and shop my favorite frocks for the season ahead below.

A timeless investment if you ask me.

I love the idea of contrasting this sweet slip dress with a blazer and chunky, leather boots.

If it’s good enough for Rihanna you can bet it’s good enough for me.

Exactly how I would style this, too.

Still catching my breath from this beauty!

I love this color and the flattering belted waist.

Get even more use out of this sweater dress by styling it with jeans on colder days.

Leather is one of those trends I hope lasts forever. It just looks so luxe (even when it’s ultra-affordable).

I’m a sucker for a good mini dress.

This dress served me well in spring, but I know I’ll only use it more in fall and winter.

Who can say no to this print?

The dream wedding guest look.

Thought Realisation dresses were just for summer? Think again.

I have these shoes already so I guess all I need is the dress and I have my next party outfit?

Anything that looks this good with black ankle boots is an automatic yes.

I’m all about anything Alexander Wang right now.

Of course, one faux leather dress wasn’t enough!

A major back moment.

Another one I can personally vouch for—this mini dress looks so good with kitten heels.

Get the boots and complete the look.

Just one of many animal print pieces I’m coveting this season (if you couldn’t tell).

Wrap dresses are universally flattering and that’s just one thing I like about this cute dress.

This will look so good with strappy sandals.

Asymmetrical details are always a yes from me.

Up next: street style has spoken—this is fashion’s next It-bag.

These Under-$150 Amazon Jackets Are the “Upper East Side Coat” 2.0

We all know that coat. Yes, I’m clearly talking about the runaway Amazon hit New York magazine initially wrote about in an article detailing “The Unlikely Tale of a $140 Amazon Coat That’s Taken Over the Upper East Side.” Since the release of this viral piece, you’d be hard-pressed not to spot the affordable yet directional Orolay stunner on somebody in your city (whether that be in NYC or not).

While the coat nearly sold out last season, the puffer is back in stock. So if you didn’t add it to your cart the first go around, now is your chance before winter really hits. But interestingly, there are also a few other under-$150 jackets on Amazon—some also made by Orolay—that are definitely worth a test as well to bring an elevated spin to your cold-weather game. Ahead, we rounded up a range of these styles, along with an edit of other fashionable pea coats, bombers, and more.

Keep scrolling to shop our favorite cheap coats on Amazon—but you better act fast and snag your favorite before everyone else does.

Here’s the viral Amazon coat in all its glory with the asymmetrical cut, side zippers, and furry lining.

This puffer-style cape-coat hybrid is destined to become famous with its fashion-forward cloak design and functional details like the oblique placket and hood.

The A-line design and contrasting orange piping bring a chic spin to this practical (ahem, warm) winter coat.

A slightly updated take on the viral hit featuring an adjustable drawstring hood, interior-waisted drawstring for a perfect fit, side zippers, and two big side pockets.

Toss this sleek plaid coat over just about any outfit for a sophisticated vibe.

With the ability to pack into a pouch, this fashion-forward leopard coat is as functional and fashionable as it gets.

A checked long topcoat is inherently polished—perfect for that 9-to-5 and 5-to-9 life.

Make an instant statement with this vibrant red coat in a very-right-now bomber length.

The belt detail elevates this stylish double-breasted coat even more.

Beat that nasty winter weather with this pretty yet water-resistant packable puffer jacket.

This shearling bomber seriously looks way more expensive than it actually is.

A vest is especially ideal with a chunky sweater for those in-between temperatures.

If you don’t have a classic black peacoat in your arsenal, now is the time. The beauty of this pick is that it also comes with a coordinating scarf.

A faux-fur leopard coat is never a bad idea to stay warm (and nab a compliment… or seven).

A longer utility cool paired with an all-black fit will feel so “downtown.”

Take your off-duty game to that cool next level with this on-trend camo parka.

Wrap yourself in this furry draped silhouette for extreme comfort.

A packable lightweight puffer is ideal on its own or to layer underneath a thicker wool coat.

Try this fresh take on the classic trench coat with its pretty lilac hue.

This is not your average black puffer with the high stand collar and faux-fur trim.

The Most Epic Designer Shoes Celebs Have Worn in 2019 (So Far)

Here at Who What Wear, we make it our mission to uncover the best designer shoes from emerging talent and heritage brands alike. We’re constantly refreshing our new arrivals tabs and scrolling through our Instagram feeds in search of the latest pairs to hit the fashion world, all so we can share our findings with you here. But apart from surfing sites like Net-a-Porter, Moda Operandi, and Farfetch on our own, we’re also looking to the celebrity street style scene to inform us of the latest designer shoes to look at, talk about, and maybe even add to cart.

At the risk of jumping the gun on the best shoes of 2019, we’re sharing the most epic shoes our favorite celebs have worn so far this year. Looking back on the last several months, we came across the It shoes that chic women like Rihanna, Chrissy Teigen, and Victoria Beckham have styled to perfection. The following 11 designer shoes are epic all on their own but worn by these A-listers, they’re truly next-level. Keep reading to see and then shop the best designer heels, boots, sandals, and slides.

On Rihanna: Fenty Drawstring Plain Satin Mini Dress ($560) and Evening Sandals ($670); David Webb jewelry. When Rihanna announced that she would be launching a namesake line of luxury ready-to-wear, we knew it would be legendary, but we weren’t prepared for how epic the shoes, in particular, would be. Naturally, RiRi is her own best model for these pink metallic sandals from her Fenty line.

On Hailey Bieber: Jacquemus Les Bottes Pantalon Leather Boots ($1279); J Brand Elsa Hosk Birthday Blazer ($974); MM6 Maison Margiela Inside Out Logo T-Shirt ($255); Jennifer Fisher Mini Maeve Hoop Earrings ($750); Celine Edge sunglasses; Rolex watch. What do you get when you combine one of the buzziest fashion brands with the most talked-about celeb right now? Pure magic. We’d been eyeing these Jacquemus boots ever since they dropped, and now that they have Hailey Bieber’s stamp of approval, we’re fully obsessed.

On Bella Hadid: Babaton Knit Tank; I.Am.Gia pants; Fraser Sterling earrings; Wandler Isa Leather Mules ($470). Bella Hadid was one of the first celebs we spotted wearing Wandler’s It shoes, which she owns in black (as seen above) and an eye-catching red and leopard colorway. The brand is mostly known for its bags, but this is its first foray into shoes, and they couldn’t have made a better entrance.

Even celebrities aren’t immune to the logomania trend that’s taking over the fashion world right now. Selena Gomez was spotted wearing Fendi’s knee-high sock boots, which she masterfully styled with a sleek all-black outfit.

On Victoria Beckham: Victoria Beckham Chain-Print Midi Dress and pumps. Victoria Beckham doesn’t stray far from her wardrobe of edited, polished staples, so when we see her testing out a bold new shoe trend, we take note immediately. Such was the case here when she wore a pair of hot pink pumps (from her own line, no less) to a wedding in Spain. Is it a coincidence that the fuschia hue has been trending hard in fashion ever since?

On Kendall Jenner: Reformation Dallas Top ($148); By Far Mini Bag ($510); Simon Miller Black Patent Beep Thong 45 Sandals ($370). Leave it to Kendall Jenner to test out the year’s most controversial shoes and make them look so good while doing it. Over the summer, she wore Simon Miller’s high-heeled flip-flops—quite the polarizing shoe choice—with a Reformation It top like it was no big deal.

On Zendaya: Ports 1961 blazer and trousers; L’Agence Mariela Bodysuit ($235); Aquazzura Sundance Metallic Leather Sandals ($895). Zendaya gave us a lot to take in with this outfit, but once we laid our eyes on her shoes, we couldn’t look away. The metallic sandals feature a chunky platform sole and ribbed texture that give off a futuristic disco vibe we’re way into.

On Emily Ratajkowski: Zara Double-Breasted Blazer ($119); Jacquemus bag; Schutz Maryana Boots ($290). Knee-high boots are trending hard on the fashion front this fall, and despite all the expensive designer versions that exist, Emily Ratajkowski is making a strong case for this luxurious-looking (and under-$300) pair—with a Zara blazer no less.

On Irina Shayk: Bottega Veneta Flat Chelsea Combat Boots ($990); Etro Pasego Crossbody Bag ($1180). It wouldn’t really be a roundup of designer shoes in 2019 without a nod to Bottega Veneta. The newly revamped house has been churning out It shoe after It shoe, and Irina Shayk’s heavy-duty boots are the latest ones to get a celebrity stamp of approval.

On Priyanka Chopra: Hale Bob dress; By Far Tanya Sandals; Le Specs sunglasses; Ferragamo bag. With their square toe and barely there straps, By Far’s Tanya sandals were the cult shoe pick we saw on everyone this summer. Priyanka styled them effortlessly here with a printed slip dress and top-handle bag.

We Just Found the Best Place to Score Chelsea Boots

Ankle boots are kind of our thing. Right now, we have chunky-soled Chelsea boots firmly on our minds, and luckily we just found a brand that covers all the requirements (read: cool, practical, comfortable, and ideally under $200). Blundstone, a Tasmanian boot brand that’s been around since 1870, is a staple in Aussie girls’ wardrobes, and it’s officially becoming a mainstay in ours as well. Fun fact: Tasmania is a small island off the coast of Australia, so these shoes have a very authentic feel to them. We’re talking quality leather, an array of colors, and super-on-trend silhouettes. Whether you find yourself in SoHo or Silver Lake (or somewhere in between), a chunky Chelsea boot is the perfect way to incorporate the utility trend into your wardrobe for fall. See our favorite styles here.

This sleek all-black heeled Chelsea is perfect for pairing with prints and maxi silhouettes (both major fall trends). Have a floral dress you want to feel fall-ready? Toughen it up with these bad boys.

When we said we love chunky boots, this kind of tread is exactly what we meant. Pair these with skinny jeans and an oversize pastel sweater, and let the compliments flood in.

We’re super into how punk these boots feel. Pair with a voluminous baby-doll dress and a relaxed-fit denim jacket for a street style–approved look that’s perfect between seasons.

If you ever wanted to look like a total badass, these shoes will do the trick. This boot is just asking to be styled with a classic leather moto jacket, but it’s equally good with corduroy boilersuits (a big trend for fall).

High-tops not your thing? A shorter ankle boot in a rich brown will give you the neutral color palette as a starting point for your look. Pair with raw-hem creamy denim and a turtleneck for an easy weekend look.

Olive green is the perfect color to style with a trench coat, and suede is also your answer to the age-old question, What boots do I wear with my leather pants?

I’m a Libra, and This Is What an Astrologer Told Me to Buy for Fall

We’ve looked to a variety of different experts for advice this season, from TSA agents to celebrity stylists. But for the more astrologically inclined, how about some fall trend pointers from an astrologer? Natalia Benson used to do our horoscopes for Who What Wear last year, so I thought she’d be the perfect person to tap about fall shopping advice for Libras, including yours truly.

As you know, we officially entered Libra season on September 23 and it extends to October 23. Whether you’re a fellow Libra or would like to tap into Libra’s qualities of harmony and balance, scroll down to read Benson’s brilliant advice for fall shopping according to the sign.

“Olive green keeps coming up for me intuitively right now,” Benson said. When she mentioned this, I immediately googled the color and found that it can represent peace through compassion, which made her intuition make a lot of sense. “Peace through compassion is totally Libra,” Benson said after I told her what I found. “That whole energy taps into a major Libra theme: harmony. When there is a lot of planetary concentration in one sign, it’s an exalted time for the sign while the rest of us should try to tap into Libra qualities.”

“With jewelry, you can celebrate the Venusian quality moving through the sign by stepping it up with some pizzazz and statement pieces,” Benson said.” Venus has goddess energy, so lean into ornamentation, dressing up, and extra vibes when it comes to accessories. Add some bright, gorgeous energy.”

“There are a lot of planets in Libra right now, so there is a lot of energy in your sign,” Benson told me. “The sun, Venus, Mars, and Mercury are all moving through Libra right now. I would say it’s an active time; there is a lot of movement and forward motion. For shoes, I would invest in running shoes and sneakers that are comfortable and practical because there’s a lot to do right now.”

“Libras should look for all kinds of adornment. I just saw an Instagram by Justine Marjan with pearl hair accessories. Look for maybe pearls, gold, big barrettes, and statement pieces for your hair.”

“This is your time to express yourself,” Benson said. “It’s your time to shine. I’m feeling something silky, luxe, high-end, and good quality, like a silk jacket. Look for something durable that could last all season but still has a feminine touch to add balance, which is central to Libras.”
