The biggest announcements from Microsoft’s 2019 Surface event
Microsoft’s annual Surface event has wrapped up, and it brought a ton of big announcements this year. In total, it announced close to 10 new products, including the surprising Surface Duo phone that runs Android. Some other big announcements include Windows 10X, the Surface Neo, Surface Pro X, Surface Earbuds, the Surface Pro 7, and the Surface Laptop 3, the latter of which will be available in two sizes.
Check out our live blog to see photos and insights from the event as they happened. But if you’re catching up, and just want to look at the headlines, you’ll find the key takeaways below.

Microsoft Surface Pro X and Surface Pro 7 hands-on: it’s ARM vs. Intel
Microsoft is launching not one, but two Surface Pro devices this year. There’s a successor to the regular Surface Pro line, the Surface Pro 7, and then there’s the new Surface Pro X. It looks a lot like the Surface Pro 7 from a distance, but there are some subtle design changes that mean it has a bigger 13-inch display inside a 12-inch chassis that’s thinner and lighter than the Surface Pro we’re used to. It also has a new ARM-based Surface SQ1 processor inside, a chip that has been co-engineered between Microsoft and Qualcomm.
I got to spend some time with both the Surface Pro X and Surface Pro 7 ahead of Microsoft’s Surface hardware event, and the Pro X is definitely the most interesting hardware outside of Microsoft’s new Surface Neo…

In a Rut? Quick, Save These 3 Editor-Favorite Fall Outfit Formulas
We’ve got decidedly different weather to contend with, and we definitely can’t profess to know as much about wine vin and cheese fromage as they do, but we California girls feel a strange kinship to our French friends, at least on the fashion front. Parisians prize that same cool, laid-back aesthetic we L.A. girls can’t get enough of, and for that very reason, we log serious hours scrolling through the Instagram feeds of style setters based in the City of Light.
After careful consideration (and maybe a bottle of Bordeaux), we’ve honed in on three French girl–approved outfit ideas we’re planning on re-creating for the season ahead… Best of all, we put all these looks together using new-season pieces from L’AGENCE, that editor-favorite designer that incorporates a bit of Parisian attitude into all of its California-designed pieces. As it turns out, fresh fall outfit inspiration is only a few clicks away, mon amis…
FOR THE OFFICE
I don’t care if pumpkin spice lattes have been on the menu at your local coffee shop since mid-June… As fashion editors, we don’t consider it fall until we’ve purchased a fresh new checked blazer (or two, if we’re being perfectly honest). Ditto for a pair of perfect straight-leg jeans and a silky black bodysuit… Together, these pieces make for an outfit that’s polished enough for the office but not too stuffy when you and your co-workers decide to call it a day and reconvene at the wine bar across the street from the office.
DINNER WITH FRIENDS
French girls also appreciate the appeal of a cozy cardigan (especially one in fall’s earthy It hue), and we love the idea of adding in the matching cami underneath… Here in L.A., you never know whether a fall evening in Santa Monica will be 60º or 90º, after all. Keep the ’70s vibe alive by way of these excellent high-rise flares—very Charlotte Gainsbourg, if we do say so ourselves.
FOR DATE NIGHT
Fall date-night ideas I’ve come up with for this very chic L’AGENCE slip dress I can’t stop thinking about: a good French double-feature at my favorite local repertory theater (Alain Delon fan club member checking in); a table for two at a dimly lit café somewhere in Silverlake where I can’t correctly pronounce a thing on the menu; or perhaps a friend’s gallery opening somewhere downtown. Again, layers are your friend, and an (almost) all-black outfit will never steer you wrong.
