Julian Edelman Has Greatest Reaction to Patriots Signing Antonio Brown

The New England Patriots just got even more dominant with the surprise signing of troubled-but-wildly talented wide receiver Antonio Brown, and fellow receiver Julian Edelman sure seems pretty psyched about it.

Once the news broke on Saturday that Brown would join the defending Super Bowl champions, Edelman shared his thoughts on Twitter, even utilizing Brown’s favorite phrase “Business is boomin.”

Brown joining the Pats should make “America’s Team” even more formidable this season.

Antonio Brown and the Patriots agreed to a one-year, $15 million contract Saturday, according to ESPN, just hours after the Raiders cut the 31-year-old superstar wide receiver.

Brown — who won’t be permitted to play in the Pats’ Week 1 matchup against the Steelers — was eligible to sign anywhere as of 4 p.m. ET. Brown confirmed the shock signing, which includes a $9 million signing bonus, by sharing a Photoshop illustration of him in a Patriots jersey, seen in the tweet above.

Brown, a seven-time Pro Bowler, will be joining his third team in six months. He split with Pittsburgh in March, clashed with the Raiders over the last few weeks before surrendering $29 million in guaranteed money–in a disastrous tenure that spanned being fined for missed practices, a prolonged helmet dispute, and a bitter verbal clash with Raiders GM Mike Mayock–and is now on his way to join Edelman, Tom Brady and the gang.

Joi Ito has resigned from the MIT Media Lab

On Saturday, Joi Ito resigned from his position as director of the MIT Media Lab, according to an email sent to The New York Times.

“After giving the matter a great deal of thought over the past several days and weeks,” Ito wrote in the email, “I think that it is best that I resign as director of the media lab and as a professor and employee of the Institute, effective immediately.”

The resignation comes after mounting concern over Ito’s ties with Jeffrey Epstein, a serial rapist and billionaire who had been a significant donor to the lab and to MIT. Epstein donated as much as $800,000 to MIT-related projects over the years, including Ito’s own venture fund.

Watch Khabib Nurmagomedov Make Dustin Poirier Tap Out At UFC 242

Khabib Nurmagomedov retained his UFC lightweight championship belt with a dominant win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi Saturday, after the Russian mauler made the Louisiana fighter tap out in the third round via rear naked choke.

Khabib was dominant throughout the fight, showcasing his signature style of masterful wrestling prowess in the Octagon, and overwhelming opponents he has on the ground.

Poirier had his best moments of the fight in round two, when he connected with a few strikes on Khabib and looked to have the champ reeling, if only for a few seconds.

But as always, the undefeated Khabib (28-0) was utterly dominant after taking Poirier to the ground, which he seemingly did at will. The end came in the third round after Khabib got Poirier in a rear-naked choke and he immediately tapped out, seen in the video below.

In the Octagon after the fight, Khabib said he needed time to think but most believe the next logical match-up will be a lightweight superfight versus Tony Ferguson.

Meanwhile, a welterweight showdown between fan favorite Nate Diaz and rising contender Jorge Masvidal is officially set to headline UFC 244 on Nov. 2 live on ESPN+ PPV from Madison Square Garden in New York City, per a new report by ESPN.

Looks like the so-called “Baddest Motherfucker” belt will finally be up for grabs Diaz and Masvidal throw down in a five-round main event. UFC boss Dana White explains how the fight came together below:

“This whole thing started to materialize last night,” explained White. “So last night, Diaz’s guys were going back and forth with us and we ended up getting it done. So, Masvidal is pumped for this fight, Diaz is pumped for this fight.

“I’m excited for it and I am sure the fans are very excited to see this. It will be the main event. Five rounds of Diaz vs. Masvidal at Madison Square Garden.”

“I’m going to put together a ‘BMF’ belt for these two,” added White. “They can fight for the ‘BMF’ belt.”

Meghan Markle and Anna Wintour Wore the Prettiest Dresses to See Serena Williams

The Big Apple is currently buzzing with excitement about another New York Fashion Week, but as much as I love runway shows, the U.S. Open always has my full attention this time of year. In case you aren’t familiar with my byline, I’ve been known to sneak in tennis-related stories at every opportunity I get, including interviewing the one and only Serena Williams. Oh, and outside of work, you can also catch me waxing poetic about Roger Federer on my Instagram every other day (seriously).

That said, I’m far from the only fashion person who loves tennis. Meghan Markle and Anna Wintour are both attending the women’s final match to support Serena Williams while sitting in her player’s box. Anna Wintour has made no secret of her love for the sport and hardly misses a match during the U.S. Open, and Meghan Markle is close friends with Williams. Scroll down to see what Meghan Markle and other celebrities wore to the 2019 U.S. Open.
