Shop 24 of This Week’s Best New Arrivals
Happy Wednesday! It’s time for our weekly installment of new arrivals. In case you’re unfamiliar, every week I search high and low to find the best in designer and fast-fashion pieces—all of which just hit stores—so that you can be the first of your friends to wear them. After all, if you’re going to buy something, why not beat everyone else to it?
As I write this in the middle of a quick break from NYFW madness, I can’t help but think how excited I am for fall fashion. While it’s still far from brisk in NYC, you can see the beginnings of fall trends trickling in by way of sweaters tied over the shoulders or a pair of thick-soled boots styled with a miniskirt or dress. Similarly, most of what you’ll find below is also a nod to the season ahead, some of which you wouldn’t be totally crazy to start wearing now—perhaps with the exception of the Mango faux-shearling coat. Now you just have to narrow down your favorites and make room in your closet—sorry! So what are you waiting for? Shop my picks of the week below, and don’t forget to check back next Wednesday for another batch of fresh fashion finds.
We’re Beauty Editors with Expensive Taste—Here’s What We Love At the Drugstore
As much as we’d like to say we love affordable drugstore beauty products more than spendier finds from Sephora, Violet Grey, and Dermstore, ehhhh that would definitely be a lie. Unfortunately (for our wallets, at least), my fellow WWW beauty editor Courtney Higgs and I have rather expensive taste in beauty products. (Remember that time I realized my makeup routine totaled a whopping $436?!)
But, there is a but. Since it’s part of the job, we’ve definitely tried our fair share of drugstore beauty products. Over the years, we’ve amassed a collection of budget-friendly finds we’re actually more obsessed with than their luxe, investment-worthy counterparts. Sure, I might have a drawer of lovely mascaras from Chanel, Dior, Too Faced, Lancôme, and more, but running short on my beloved neon-orange tube from Covergirl is what sends me into a cataclysmic panic. And there’s more where that came from!
Below, Courtney and I are sharing the best drugstore beauty products we use on a regular basis and mix with or sub for even the most spendy of beauty formulas. They’re not necessarily new or particularly exciting, but they’re the ones we truly can’t live without and haven’t felt the need to replace with higher-end options—even years later. Keep scrolling!
The 16 Best Celeb Beauty Looks of the Week
Welcome to Who What Wear’s weekly rundown of the best celebrity beauty looks. Each week, we’ll take you through our curated selection of the most enviable hair and makeup showings of the last seven days.
This week’s red carpets have been absolute fire. Between the Toronto International Film Festival premieres of Hustlers and Joker, the kickoff of New York Fashion Week, and Harpers Bazaar‘s annual Icons party, our favorite celebs had ample opportunities to pull out all the beauty stops for the entire world to see.
Smoky eyes, bold brows, and rosy hues ruled the week, and we were surprised to see Emily Ratajkowski revive the faux-freckle trend. But when push comes to shove, our favorite look has to be Jennifer Lopez‘s blunt lob and otherworldly golden glow. Seriously, does she ever not look absolutely stunning?
If you’re looking for some beauty ideas to inspire your aesthetic, then search no further. Keep scrolling to see the best celebrity beauty looks of the week.

The trend of snapping photos of beauty products held up to airplane windows started here, and the whole internet should be so thankful for that innovation. But it’s more than just pretty pictures that has grown the Gelcream audience to 120,000 followers–it’s authenticity. Sheptovetskaya gives honest, in-depth, and fair ratings of the buzziest products, and she doesn’t post any ads or spon-con. What a gift.

So, this is technically the Instagram account for a hilarious beauty podcast called Glowing Up, and not a blog. But, we’re giving it a mention here because hosts Esther Povitsky and Caroline Goldfarban take to the ‘gram to share their “Glow Guides” of all the beauty favorites they talk about on each episode of the pod. They also create these shopping posts for guests who’ve appeared on the show, like Kiernan Shipka, makeup artist Nam Vo, and Tavi Gevinson.
This Expensive-Looking Trend Will Make You Look Like You Got a Raise
This fall, there are so many ways to make your outfits look more expensive. From leather separates to croc-effect accessories, there’s no shortage of luxe-looking trends to choose from if you find yourself searching for ways to trick people into thinking you spent more on your outfit than you really did. And now we’re adding one more expensive-looking trend to that list: pleated clothing, or more specifically, plissé. It’s the material that’s defined by micro pleats which give it a crinkled or puckered effect.
Why is plissé so expensive-looking, you ask? For one, the crinkled effect obscures any and all wrinkles, so you always look fresh and put-together even if you’ve been wearing the garment all day long. Secondly, any article of clothing made from plissé is immediately more interesting than most other fabrics thanks to the pleated texture. As you’ll see up ahead, the material can be found rendered in dresses, tops, pants, and skirts this fall and even though Pleats Please by Issey Miyake made plissé so covetable in the first place, everyone from affordable retailers like H&M and Topshop to luxury designers like Khaite are getting in on it right now, so you can achieve the luxe look no matter how much you’re actually willing to spend.
Simply scroll down to see the pleated clothing trend IRL and then shop each of the items defining the look.
