French Women Are All Obsessed With This Denim Trend
If there’s one thing we know to be true about French women and fashion, it’s that they love to keep an unfussy wardrobe. Key pieces they always have on standby include a perfect white shirt, a well-tailored black blazer, and classic black heels. They also love their jeans. But we’re not talking about any old denim style. Who What Wear UK columnist Marissa Cox told us back in September last year that since she moved to Paris, she discovered the more popular style of jeans were of the straight-leg variety. And while we’re sure that no Parisian woman is going to ditch these, we’ve got new intel that says women in the French capital are loving one other particular style.
According to data from Lyst, the global fashion search platform, high-rise wide-leg jeans are the exact style French women—in particular, Parisian women—can’t get enough of right now. In fact, searches for these jeans are up by 68% year over year. And the most popular brand of all? Jacquemus, of course. There’s a good reason this silhouette is so popular. It’s super flattering on pretty much every body shape. The high rise will give any waist definition, and the wider cut will balance out the hips and can also elongate the legs. Ready to see how some of our favorite French women wear this style? Keep scrolling for some chic looks, and then shop our edit of the best high-rise wide-leg jeans.
Style Notes: One of our go-to French influencers is Jeanne Damas. Here she’s wearing high-rise wide-leg jeans with black boots and a beige jacket. Some might say this is the perfect autumn outfit.
Style Notes: Let’s focus on the high-rise aspect for a moment. See how it gives your waist a fantastic definition? Add a belt to give it a final style flourish.
Style Notes: Marissa Cox opts for dark jeans with a white T-shirt, pink blazer, and bright strappy sandals.
Style Notes: A sleek, long trench coat is the perfect layer for transitioning your looks from summer to fall.
Style Notes: While the weather isn’t exactly cold or hot, try an outfit like this. A pretty blouse and black boots with jeans.

The Numbers Are In: These Are Officially the It Designers of Fall 2019
Instagram can seem like all fun and games when you’re sending memes back and forth between all your friends, but as far as brands are concerned, it’s a main source of business. While you’re scrolling, liking, and shopping on the app, Instagram is taking very detailed notes of how you engage with the content being presented in front of you, but it’s not the only one taking a close look. A company called Dash Hudson is also paying close attention as well.
According to a representative from the brand, Dash Hudson, a visual marketing platform, works with “the world’s raddest, most discerning brands and publishers to create, source, measure, and enhance the engagement of their photos and videos to distribute content that drives awareness and generates ROI so all interactions between brands and the people who care about them are meaningful.”
So how does this relate to you and the reason you clicked into this story? Well, Dash Hudson did some digging and used all of its resources to uncover the five most popular F/W 19 collections based on overall engagement rates on Instagram. Does this necessarily mean these are the most talked-about or purchased brands right now? No. Does it mean they have the most followers? Also, no. But it does mean that the fall campaigns rolled out by these powerhouse brands outperformed all the rest, and that’s worth talking about.
Since the numbers you’re about to read will probably mean nothing to you without context, below we have provided the industry average engagement rates for luxury brands:

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Tops Forbes 2019 List of World’s Highest-Paid Actors
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson really needs to write a book on how he does it. The former pro wrestler has had a long run at the top of the Hollywood heap that’s close to unprecedented. This year is no exception as he tops the Forbes 2019 list of the highest-paid actors in the world.
And The Rock wins by a good amount, too. The second highest-paid actor is Avengers star Chris “Thor” Hemsworth and he’s $13 million south of Johnson’s amazing number.
And Robert Downey Jr., who has always been seen as the top Avenger, is a mere number three.
Here’s the full list from Forbes:
1. Dwayne Johnson -$89.4 million
2. Chris Hemsworth – $76.4 million
3. Robert Downey Jr. – $66 million
4. Akshay Kumar – $65 million
5. Jackie Chan – $58 million
6. Bradley Cooper (tie) – $57 million
6. Adam Sandler (tie) – $57 million
8. Chris Evans -$43.5 million
9. Paul Rudd – $41 million
10. Will Smith – $35 million
Forbes helpfully details just how Johnson does it:
He’ll collect an upfront salary of up to $23.5 million—his highest quote yet—for the forthcoming Jumanji: The Next Level. He also commands up to 15% of the pool from high-grossing franchise movies, including Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which had a worldwide box office of $962.1 million.
And he is paid $700,000 per episode for HBO’s Ballers and seven figures in royalties for his line of clothing, shoes and headphones with Under Armour.
The thing about Johnson is there is no disputing that he is literally one of the hardest-working men in show business. So he brings home the bacon because he’s the first guy in the kitchen and the last guy cleaning up at night.
The Rock will always get paid. And with another Jumanji installment on the way, he’ll probably be at the top again next year.
Lagavulin 10-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Is a Smoky, Spicy Treat
Top Islay distiller Lagavulin has released an exclusive premium single-malt scotch that promises to tickle all of your taste buds.
The latest expression from the venerable Scottish distillery is a rich 10-year-old sipper finished in first-fill ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 43 percent alcohol by volume.
Initially, scotch fans can expect a “sweet and salty” flavor with an “intense spicy and smoky finish.”
Dr. Craig Wilson, “master of malts” at Lagavulin parent company Diageo, has more details about what this stuff actually tastes like.
“It is rich, intense and smoky, having spent time in American Oak casks, while a creamy smoothness and hint of spice shines through from its maturation in first-fill ex-bourbon casks,” he said in a press release.
“This is a whisky filled with surprising contrasts. On the palate, Lagavulin 10 Year Old is sweet and salty at first, before it builds to a fiery crescendo with a spicy and smoky finish that is both intense and warming.”
It’s best enjoyed neat or with water, which helps unlock some of the deeper layers of flavor,” Wilson added.
Getting your hands on a bottle will be the tricky part, as the Lagavulin 10 Year Old is available exclusively at Dufry Travel Retail Stores for about $61.
Fortunately, there are 88 locations scattered across the U.S. and Canada—try to remember to cop a bottle after passing through security.
