It’s pretty much a fact that nobody can resist a good affordable find—not even celebrities are immune. Celebrities do, on the other hand, have access to things we commoners could only dream of, so when they choose to wear an affordable find, it means it must be good. 

Recently I’ve noticed some of our favorite fashionable celebs wearing seriously cool under-$150 pieces—from Elsa Hosk’s chic swimsuit to Emily Ratajkowski’s pretty gold jewelry to Jasmine Tookes’s perfect summer dress. Each of these looks had me scouring the internet to shop these pieces, so I figured I’d share the wealth with you today. Below, I’ve outlined the 16 best under-$150 items celebrities are loving right now and shopped out each one if you feel so inclined to purchase. 

EmRata has been Instagramming this pendant necklace (bearing her husband’s initial) on repeat as of late, and it’s the perfect piece for layering. At just $65, even adding multiple letters to your neck won’t put too big of a dent in your wallet. 

It doesn’t get any chicer than a high-leg one-piece, and this $99 style Kourtney Kardashian is wearing is one of the most flattering I’ve come across. Investing in a timeless one-piece is a smart shopping move, as it never goes out of style, meaning you’ll wear it summer after summer. 

When I started writing this story, my intention was to focus on Elsa’s chic sweater, only to realize her pretty miniskirt is also under $150—win-win. This white cardigan is the perfect fall piece (one you can start wearing now if you leave it partially undone à la Hosk), while the printed skirt can also transition to next season seamlessly when paired with a chunky sweater. 

If you have a late-summer getaway or simply have a habit of collecting swimsuits (I’m guilty), then Elsa’s latest suit is something you need to have on your radar. The pretty white eyelet detail makes it stand out. 

Jasmine Tookes’s floral minidress can be worn immediately with sandals and then transitioned into fall effortlessly by adding an oversize denim jacket and ankle boots. The little keyhole tie at the neckline is too pretty to pass up. 

Kylie Jenner’s cool asymmetrical earrings look significantly more expensive than they are thanks to their unique shape. These are non-basic earrings that surprisingly go with everything.

Before we dive in, let me give you the deets on my dear mother, Nancy. She’s 59 years old, lives in the Midwest, and is into fashion. Yes, (don’t roll your eyes) she’s not just a regular mom; she’s a cool mom. Given her sartorial curiosity, she’s sharpened her stylish and functional personal wardrobe through decades of trial and error. As a result, her signature looks skew more classic and practical rather than forward and experimental. While she’s always interested in “what the cool girls are wearing,” she often finds herself sticking to the more uncomplicated looks that can easily work into the timeless wardrobe she’s been curating forever.

Oh, I should’ve mentioned earlier, but she’s also extremely opinionated. Therefore, she isn’t afraid of speaking up if she isn’t feeling the new fussy trends the fashion scene seems to be into.

While there’s a sampling of fresh fall 2019 trends she wouldn’t dare go near (sorry, crayon tights), there’s certainly an offering of looks she’d test out in her rotation. If there was one standout trend that ruled the fall 2019 runways, it was undoubtedly leather. The luxurious fabric made an appearance at practically every major designer’s show in the form of dresses, jumpsuits, trench coats, skirts, and head-to-toe pantsuits in a myriad of colors from merlot hues to deep purple and green. The fabric is being crafted in a refreshingly modern way for fall 2019—soft and malleable—making it way accessible, wearable, and seriously more fun than your average moto jacket.

Undoubtedly, the street style set has been quick to take on the trend—pairing the luxurious-looking fabric with everything from cool combat boots to soft knit sweaters, or wearing it as a stand-alone piece for a statement-making look.

Have you noticed when scrolling through Instagram or looking at street style photos from various fashion weeks around the globe there are certain clothing items that seem to stand out from the rest? They catch the camera flash or the sun just right and seem to shine a bit brighter than everything else in the photo? Maybe it’s because looking at fashion photos all day is part of my job, but I definitely have—and couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was that made certain pieces photograph so well. 

To dig deeper, I reached out to one of my favorite fashion photographers Vincent Elejorde (who regularly photographs some of the top influencers such as Camila Coelho, Jill Wallace, and Jenn Im) to hear his professional opinion on what pieces photograph best. “I’d have to say that a fashion item I love photographing is anything silk,” Vincent explains. “Whether that’s scarves, skirts, dresses—they all reflect light perfectly and bring depth and dimension to an image.”

Once I started researching Vincent’s tip, it became very clear to me how right he is. Below I’ve outlined some photo evidence of this phenomenon.
