If you need extra storage for games on your Switch or your Switch Lite preorder when it ships on September 20th, you should check out Amazon’s deal on popular SanDisk microSD cards. Notably, the 512GB microSD card is down to $79.99, which is its most affordable price yet.

Around this time last year, it was common for SanDisk’s 400GB model to sell for around $100. That card is now selling for just over $50, and that may be the better value for you if you don’t foresee needing a half-terabyte of storage. The 256GB model is also cheaper than we’ve seen before: it costs $29.99 at Amazon.

These cards will work in more than just the Switch, obviously. Whether you use it with your console, phone, tablet, laptop, or action camera is up to you….

Apple will let more independent repair shops buy ‘genuine’ iPhone parts

Broken cracked iphone stock

Apple will now allow more independent repair shops to buy “genuine” iPhone parts and tools, allowing them to complete repairs in roughly the same way that an Apple Store would. The change could be helpful to iPhone owners as Apple continues to lock down repairs, though it could also lead to higher prices for parts, as they’ll all pass through Apple.

Until now, independent repair shops had to become “authorized service providers” in order to get genuine parts from Apple. But there were major reasons repair shops may not have wanted to join: they’d have to pay Apple to be part of the program, and they’d be limited to only completing authorized repairs, as Motherboard previously detailed.

Hulu’s ad-supported plan is only $2.99 for six months for new and returning subscribers

Photo by Chris Welch / The Verge

Hulu is already pretty affordable, but the streaming service is teaming up with Chrissy Teigen, celebrity and co-host of Eater’s upcoming Hulu series Family Style, to promote an even better deal. The ad-supported plan is 50 percent off for six months, bringing it down to a mere $2.99 per month.

This offer is available for new and “eligible returning” Hulu users, but not people who are currently subscribed. Once your six months of Hulu at $2.99 are up, you’ll be charged $5.99 per month moving forward.

Hulu is the only streaming service where you can stream The Handmaid’s Tale, Veronica Mars (including the new fourth season), and it’s currently developing a Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series.

If you’re a student who subscribes to…

Samsung has quietly announced a new Bixby-powered smart speaker called the Galaxy Home Mini, and it’s inviting Galaxy smartphone owners in South Korea to sign up to beta-test the new device. Samsung says the new speaker can control IoT devices, it integrates with Samsung’s SmartThings platform, and it uses sound technology provided by Samsung’s AKG audio brand. SamMobile was first to spot the announcement.

This is the first time Samsung has officially admitted that its smaller smart speaker exists, although we had a decent idea it was coming, thanks to its appearance in a Federal Communications Commission filing earlier this year. Beyond the few details shared by Samsung in the beta announcement, we know next to nothing about this new…
