You’re probably already aware that Paige is one of the top premium denim brands—it has been since its inception in 2005—has a slew of celebrity fans, and is beloved by men and women around the world. For this, we have Paige Adams-Geller to thank.

To give you a little backstory, after modeling as a teen, she attended USC for broadcast journalism and communications. Post-college, Adams-Geller went on to work as a fit model while she pursued an acting career. Many of the brands she modeled for were L.A.-based premium denim brands, and she took her time immersed in that world as a crash course in the business aspect of running a fashion company, where she was privy to the inner workings of every aspect from merchandising to marketing to design. Adams-Geller was sexually assaulted and developed an eating disorder while modeling, and it was then that she knew she had to make a change in her life.

Upon deciding to take her learnings and start her own denim brand (which was initially self-funded), Adams-Geller’s vision for Paige Denim came to fruition surprisingly quickly, and now, 15 years after the launch of the brand, it’s become an industry leader, boasting both women’s and men’s lines of denim and apparel, a successful shoe collection that launched last year, and a presence in over 80 countries around the world.

Needless to say, Adams-Geller is the type of founder you’d want to take career advice from. As she put it Second Life when asked what advice she’d give women who are interested in changing lanes, “I’d say you have to go for it. If there is passion in that decision and wanting to switch gears and you’re connecting your head and your heart together at the same time, you have to go for it. Because really, you don’t want to live your life being a dreamer, just dreaming and not taking action and doing it, because you will have regrets.” She added, “And the minute my husband said to me, “You’ve got to do it or you’re going to regret it the rest of your life”, that I took to heart. And I’m like, “You’re right. What have I got to lose? If I fail, I fail.”

Ikea releases free ‘Soffa Sans’ font made of couches

Ikea has released a free font called Soffa Sans, inspired by all the memes born from its online ‘Design your own sofa’ planner. The tool allows for customers to design the layouts and configurations of Ikea’s couches, from the Vimle sectionals to the Vallentuna modular sofa series. Once it was discovered that the planner allowed for basically any configuration with no limit to the cost, it inspired some Sims-like creativity from users.

Acknowledging the planner’s full potential, Ikea worked with digital agency Proximity London to create the Soffa Sans font. Calling itself the “the world’s comfiest font”, Soffa Sans creates a typeface out of the Vallentuna couch in both isometric and birds-eye view versions.

Google’s pre-Prime Day sale discounts Home speakers and Nest smart products

Pretty much every company is finding a way to get involved in the lead-up to Prime Day 2019, which starts July 15th. Google is one of them, and it announced price cuts on most of its smart home devices. The deals will last through July 17th, the day after Prime Day concludes.

Bentley GT Convertible Continental ‘Number 1 Edition’ Celebrates 100 Years of Luxurious Power

Bentley is celebrating its centenary with 100 exclusive droptop Continental GTs that are oozing with supercar style.

Maxim recently test drove the “base” model—an aluminum-wrapped grand tourer with a whopping twin-turbo, 6.0-liter W12 under the hood that’s good for 626 horsepower and a 207 mph top speed.

The No. 1 Bentley Blower (R) and Bentley Continental GT Convertible “Number 1 Edition”

The Continental GT Convertible “Number 1 Edition” shares its face-melting performance and power plant while honoring the fabled 1929 No. 1 Bentley Blower race car.

A painted “Number 1” grille is complemented by an 18-carat gold fender badge, jeweled filler and oil cap. The brawny cruiser rides on 22-inch rims coated in either a “Gloss Black” or an extremely British “Cricket Ball” finish.

More alluringly luxe elements adorn the car’s cabin. At the center of the bespoke dark wood dashboard is British Jaeger clock featuring a Number 1 face and an “Engine Spin” rotating display—another nod to wheel spinners found on vintage rides like the No. 1 Bentley Blower.

An Alcantara-swathed steering wheel, “Beluga” black or “Cricket Ball” leather upholstery, machine-turned aluminum and more 18-carat gold accents top off the high-end interior.

If the “Dragon Red II” exterior pictured here isn’t your thing, the limited-edition luxury ride is also available in a murdered-out paint coat.

Bentley didn’t list a price, but expect to see a significant hike over the standard GT Convertible Continental’s $326,000 ask.

Samsung launches a Bixby app store to better compete with Alexa and Google Home

Samsung has opened a new app store for Bixby so Galaxy users can discover new shortcuts they can use with the assistant. Called Bixby marketplace, users can browse for “Bixby capsules.” Despite sounding like some kind of prescription drug, these tools are akin to Amazon’s Alexa skills that let you easily access certain functionalities of an app with a voice command.

Bixby already offers quick commands that integrate with third-party apps, but the marketplace makes it easier to browse through different categories of apps, like games, productivity, travel, and music. Users can also customize their capsule to a specific need. For example, if you prefer to use Uber or Lyft, you can select the transportation capsule to always request Uber…
