The producers of the 2016 film Arrival have picked up the rights to adapt another short science fiction story: The Message by Ken Liu, which has all the hallmarks that brought Denis Villeneuve’s film such considerable acclaim.
The story follows an archeologist who reunites with his estranged daughter during a mission to a distant planet to study a long-extinct alien civilization. The pair encounters some problems on the planet that relate to the demise of the aliens and their own relationship.
The Hollywood Reporter says that 21 Laps and FilmNation’s Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Aaron Ryder will produce the adaptation and that they’re currently working to find a director and screenwriter for the project.

BMW’s race towards an electrified future continues with an outrageous new e-bike that pays tribute to the brand’s iconic “boxer “engine.
It’s almost as if BMW Motorrad, the German automaker’s motorcycle branch, is trying to make the transition to gas-less power plants easier on stubborn gearheads with the Vision DC Roadster.
Yes, the concept bike is all-electric. But the batteries are vertically oriented and surrounded by cooling cooling elements that sit in the air stream. The design is meant to mimic the look of the 1923 BMW R32’s two-cylinder layout.
A cylindrical electric motor is positioned underneath the battery and directly connected to the universal shaft. All of these components are contained in aluminum-milled frame.
Nothing concrete is mentioned regarding performance, other than that other lightweight materials like carbon fiber are used to “emphasize driving dynamics.”
But it looks pretty rad. Red contrast accents adorn the battery, frame and cooling systems, the LED headlights are arranged in an innovative “U” Shape,” and the flanks of the tires engineered exclusively for the the Vision DC Roadster each have five fluorescent elements each that light up on nighttime rides.
BMW even came up with a concept for a futuristic riding suit equipped with magnets that attach to a strapless rucksack.
No word on when Vision DC Roadster might go into production. For now, we’ll just have to keep dreaming about seeing it in our garage alongside the Vision M Next hybrid supercar.
Following the death of popular YouTuber Desmond “Etika” Amofah on Tuesday, friends, fans, and other creators have opened up about the toll that being an online personality can take on a person’s mental health.
Balancing an intense upload schedule and coping with increasing pressures from being a public persona can worsen anxiety and depression, many creators have said in recent years. Amofah’s now-deleted final video, which has since reuploaded to YouTube by others, directly discusses the negative effects of social media on his health.
“It can fuck you up,” Amofah said. “It can give you an image of what you want your life to be and it can get blown completely out of proportion, dog. Unfortunately, it consumed me.”

Charlie’s Angels are back, and they aren’t playing around. At least, not as much as they once did.
That’s arguably the subtext in this first official trailer for the Elizabeth Banks-led total reboot of the TV series turned movie franchise, which stars Stewart, one-time Power Ranger Naomi Scott, and newcomer Ella Balinska. While there will always be some comedy in the inherently silly world of the Angels, it looks like Banks has decided to dial the action up even further than the previous films featuring Lucy Liu, Drew Barrymore, and Cameron Diaz.

The screenplay is by Elizabeth Banks from a story by Evan Spiliotopoulos and David Auburn.
Those multiple Bosleys include the likes Patrick Stewart, Djimon Honsou and Banks herself.
She’s actually wearing several hats: she wrote the screenplay and directed in addition to performing her role.
Keep an eye out for the exact premiere date–Charlie’s Angels will be in theaters sometime in November 2019.
