The 6 Pieces That Are Taking Over London Right Now

There are certain items (often from Zara) that I see women wearing almost every day on my commute. There have even been Instagram accounts set up in order to showcase these cult pieces, such as that blue-and-white Zara coat. I did some thorough research to discover the most-spotted items this month (i.e., I asked the Who What Wear UK office and put the question into all my WhatsApp groups) to see which pieces were the most popular in London. It quickly became clear that there are some high-street hits you’re bound to see in any London office or Underground station. In fact, you might already own some of them. Keep scrolling to see the six items we’re seeing all over London.

Topshop’s satin slip skirts have been a phenomenal hit this season. I see one every single day in real life and on my Instagram, especially as the Who What Wear team together owns 11, and there are new colors and prints. Go, go, go!
When it comes to coats, classic camel wool overcoats and camel teddy-bear coats have been taking over.
Bright zebra-print dresses have become a London girl’s uniform. Fast fashion and designer labels are all stocking some of the punchy prints.
We can’t stop seeing oversize headbands on the streets of London. We all remember the velvety ones with our names on them, right? Well, they’re like this but chicer.
Veja sneakers have been popular for quite some time now, but we can’t stop seeing them more than ever. At every corner coffee shop, in every weekend hot spot, they’re the London girl’s go-to kicks.
Neon is a runway trend we didn’t think many people would adopt this year. However, every day, I see someone in a highlighter yellow, green, or pink top. They were also a favorite among the street stylers during fashion month, so they’re confirmed now.

The ’70s Are Back, and These Are the Outfits to Prove It

In case you missed it, the fashion world is in full-on nostalgia mode right now. All the wacky and wonderful essentials all of the ’90s started to re-emerge in 2018 (we’re talking bucket hats, chain belts, and chokers). In recent collections, designers drew inspiration from the ’80s, churning out power suit pieces with sharp shoulders. And last but certainly not least, one quick peek at the fashion scene (and Instagram accounts of every girl in the know), and you’ll see that it’s not only the ’80s and ’90s that are back and bigger than ever but also the ’70s (and all its groovy trends).

You’re probably well versed in both ’80s and ’90s dressing (these two decades have been infiltrating the fashion scene for quite a while), and as such, we decided to hone in on all the best ’70s outfits. We spent some time scrolling through Instagram to find the best ensembles that look like they were plucked straight from the average stylish woman’s wardrobe 40 years ago. From fun, flared jeans to sky-high platforms, these are the essentials fashion girls have been turning to piece together standout ’70s outfits.

It’s Suddenly Cool to Break This Style “Rule”

Remember those days when wearing jewelry to the beach was considered a faux pas? (You probably do because it wasn’t that long ago.) Since the beach and pool are relaxed environments, and water, sand, and the hot sun are present, jewelry isn’t exactly the most practical way to accessorize your swimsuit. But it’s an “extra” world we live in these days, and piling on jewelry pieces is a major trend this summer—and celebrities, models, and It girls aren’t holding back.

We’ve been finding tons of recent examples of the jewelry-at-the-beach “movement” while scrolling through Instagram and have noticed that gold hoop earrings, layered necklaces, and body chains are particularly prevalent this summer. So the question is when women as influential as Kim Kardashian West, Bella Hadid, and a slew of Victoria’s Secret Angels are wearing jewelry to the beach, will you? If the answer is yes and you love the look, our advice is to leave your precious metals and gemstones at home (although we’re pretty sure many of the women highlighted below didn’t…) and go with pieces that you wouldn’t have to contact your insurance provider about if you lost them at sea.

Below are some of the jewelry-at-the-beach examples we’re referring to, along with pieces to wear to the beach yourself if you’re so inclined.

Next up, some under-$20 swimsuits to wear with your “beach jewelry.”
