The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas is opening the doors to its lavish new party palace KAOS as part of the hotel’s $690 million renovation.
KAOS has a 73,000 square foot dayclub and 29,000 square foot nightclub, and boasts 30 brand-new pools–the highest number of pools at any resort in North America.
The multi-level dayclub was designed by Friedmutter Group Las Vegas and has two main pools, multiple side pools, and 39 cabanas that many of which have their own private pool.
The nightclub was designed by Rockwell Group — which also designed some of the remodels of the suites at the Palms, including the basketball-inspired Hardwood Suite.
The focal point of the venue is the massive 60-foot bronze sculpture in one of the main pools from artist Damien Hirst titled Demon with Bowl, and another 23-foot tall sculpture from Hirst titled The Warrior and the Bear, personalized champagne valet service, a Tesla coil ceiling, water cannons, and the largest retail displays of the Macallan Fine & Rare Collection all make this club just as extra as you’d expect.
The club is also offering an insane $1 million weekend package called KAOS Theory, which includes multiple rare large format bottles of Ace of Spades and Dom Perignon as well as a 3-night stay in the Empathy Suite — a.k.a. The most expensive suite in the world at $100,000 per night with a two-night minimum.
KAOS officially opens April 4th, and the opening weekend will feature performances from artists including Alicia Keys, Marshmello, Cardi B, and Travis Scott.
Anyone who has seen David Harbour in Stranger Things knows that he went through a huge dramatic body transformation to star in Hellboy.
Just look at him in the movie’s latest Red Band trailer:
How did the 41-year-old actor chisel a musclebound antihero out of the pudgy body of his cigarette-smoking, beer-swilling character from the Netflix series? Men’s Health spoke with Harbour’s trainer, David Saladino, to find out.
You may remember that Saladino is the same celebrity exercise expert who got Ryan Reynolds in superhero shape for Deadpool 2.
Given that Hellboy’s otherworldly muscles were achieved with the help of prosthetic enhancements, it wasn’t necessary for Harbour to actually attain the physique of a roided-out body builder from Hades over the nine-week program.
Good thing, because he’s admittedly not one for the gym.
“From about the time I was 26 years old, to about now, I haven’t really been training at the gym seriously at all,” Harbour wrote on Saladino’s blog at the start of training.
Instead, Saladino designed workouts that were focused on building Harbour’s functional strength.
“I wanted to mainly focus on power and strength,” he told Men’s Health, “so when I’m doing these movements and doing this role that you believe it, that this guy, when he hits you, hits you like a truck.”
“He had to feel like he was able to kick some ass, and walk on the set and feel like Hellboy,” he added.
Per Men’s Health, here’s the workout regimen that got Harbour in Hellboy shape:
You’ll start with 2 rounds of a warm up routine, followed by a full circuit of carries.
Forward Bound
1 set of 3 to 5 jumps
Bear Crawl
1 set of 5 crawls on each arm
Medicine Ball Slam
1 set of 5 reps
Lateral Bound
1 set of 3 to 5 jumps on each side
Lateral Bear Crawl
1 set of 5 crawls in each direction
Pivoting Medicine Ball Slam
1 set of 3 to 5 slams per side
This circuit is all carries, so you’ll need a set of kettlebells or dumbbells. The first few rounds are composed of overhead moves, so be careful with the weight—but once your arm position is lower, you can really get heavy. Walk for 25 yards for each position, and switch arms for each that has you holding the weights in offset positions.
Double Overhead Carry
Single Overhead Carry
Overhead Rack Carry
Overhead Down Carry
Double Rack Carry
Single Rack Carry
Rack Down Carry
Double Farmer’s Walk
Single Suitcase Carry
A new release from WhistlePig pays tribute to one of American whiskey’s straight-up legends.
The country’s “No. 1 distiller in the ultra-premium and luxury rye whiskey category” just announced the debut of PiggyBack, a tribute to whiskey wizard Dave Pickerell.
Pickerell, the WhistlePig master distiller who created Metallica’s “Blackened” whiskey before his passing in 2018, was “most passionate” about this new expression, which the brand says is a “culmination of his legacy.”
Pickerell crafted the spirit over several years alongside WhistlePig master blender Pete Lynch. It’s made from 100 percent rye, aged six years and corked at 96.56 proof.
Instead of a traditional top hat, the cartoon hog on the bottle’s logo sports a Stetson hat in honor of Pickerell’s favorite headwear.
Here are Piggyack’s official tasting notes:
On the nose, fresh cinnamon and black peppercorn mingle, with a hint of tangerine and grapefruit zest.
The palate is powerfully spicy, with cocoa, cardamom and cured leather flavors enhancing the grain forward character of this classic rye.
The finish is wonderfully lengthy, with baking spices, oak, and vanilla lingering, and hints of citrus throughout.
This stuff deserves to be enjoyed straight from the glass, but if you prefer a cocktail, WhistlePig has got you covered:
Ingredients:
1.5 oz WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye
.75 oz dry vermouth
.75 Campari
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe, and garnish with a lemon peel.
WhistlePig PiggyBack retails for $49.99 via Caskers. Initial launch markets for 2019 include Illinois, Tennessee, Florida, D.C. and Missouri.
